That argument wasn't even an agrument, it was just Ben showing all of his insecurities with that one line "how can you" and that hurt. the way Callum loves Ben is something that Ben's never had before because growing up Phil never loved him and the last person he loved died. So ben thinks he's unworthy of love and that he doesn't deserve it. I just want to hug him and protect him. Ben has never been loved unconditionally because of all the trauma in his life and the ways Phil treated him just breaks my heart. Also Phil can fuck off with all the "put on a front" and those girls laughing at Ben, made me angry. Like that was a cute moment and then Ben seeing those girls laughing.

This episode sums up Ben's insecurities. He cannot understand how Callum could possibly still love him. "I'm not the person you fell in love with," is Ben's complex talking. Silly boy is really underestimating the depth of Callum's love for him. And I really wanted to jump into the screen and give a tight slap to those nasty cows laughing at Ben! @@MonsieurMcRib well, and that too. But everybody is insecure to a certain degree. In this case, Ben's insecurities were just a bit easier to trigger especially with his handicap. People should be mindful about how they act (i know, this is too idealistic but well, i can't help but wish ) around people who are a bit physically and mentally challeged. Because for some, their handicap could amplify their insecurities. And who knows what goes around their head once these insecurities kick in. Also, I don't think those girls were just randomly laughing. They were laughing at Ben and they made it worse with those ugly smirk plastered on their face. Those smirks they threw were really unnecessary and quite frankly, bullyish.
My heart melted when Ben was smiling with his ear pressed on the speaker. So cute. And the angst wasn’t too bad tonight, it’s the kinda angst I expect from this sort of storyline. Not gangster crap! Loved it :)

They are really doing a good job of showing how this affects the person and their partner. Both of my grandparents were almost completely deaf. People who are blaming Phil really don't understand that a lot of this is how Ben feels about himself, he doesn't feel like himself. Phil could die tomorrow and that wouldn't change. A major disability will do that to anyone when they first endure it.
I read on a scoop somewhere that Phil kicks Ben off the job because he’s frustrated he can’t hear and apparently Ben manages to get hold of a gun. But Ben sees a mysterious van follow Phil and the other guy doing the job and gets worried so follows them to check what’s going on and ends up in serious trouble.
Ben just doesn't understand(can't let himself believe) that a person can love him no matter what...that he is enough. I think this was even before he got deaf, now it's just built that pain up even more. He has doubts and he doesn't know how to handle it. Just heartbreaking. The music scene was something beyond beautiful...ofc, some stupid bitches had to ruin the moment!

Why those girls laughed I will never understand. Still, I feel like Ben is falling out of love with Callum. When the boat accident took place he stopped at nothing to get Callum back and then there was that time where he though Callum was leaving and begged him. Not he’s going back to his criminal ways to prove a point by Phil. He’s not exactly lovely gushy with Callum anymore and it doesn’t look like there’s a spark anymore when he looks at Callum. Nuh. It’s as painful scene- but they’re hardly even giving Ben and Callum a glance. They might not even have noticed them, just laughing about something else. I read the situation and the camera angles as being much more about Ben’s own insecurities and vulnerability in the crisis he’s going through, not that much about random people’s reactions. It’s sad and painful for sure, because we see it from Ben’s perspective, he’s sad and hurting. But the people at the bar might not even have noticed anything.

Ben suffered a lot during his childhood. It left a big scar. I know how it feels to be unloved and considering that he is also gay just adds to the complexity of his relationship towards his father. All he wants is to be loved and accepted.
Ben breaks my heart, he's been through so much, you can see how much he's suffering but he's trying to put on a brave front and hide it but he doesn't need to but Phil has taught him too as he's made him feel like its weak to feel/show his emotions and open up and he's still struggling with losing Paul. It's so upsetting how he feels that he can't be loved and can't see why someone would love him because he's never really been loved by anyone except Paul (who was probably the first one who truly loved him) and now Callum, not even his own father loves him because he doesn't fulfil this idea he's got of a perfect son, well he doesn't need to be a "hard man" who can hear and be strong all the time and who loves women, Ben is amazing the way he is and should be loved for who he is, if I was his family I'd love him even more and would be the proudest family member you could meet, I hope one day Phil realises how amazing his son is and finally loves him for who he is. There's so much stuff he hasn't faced and dealt with. He's so worthy of love and he is an amazing person but he doesn't show it or see it, breaks my heart how much he hates himself and I reckon he's also afraid to be in a relationship after everything with Paul in case it repeats itself. I really hope he gets through all this because he deserves to be happy and he's so worthy of love, he needs to see that he doesn't always have to be this "hard man" who's always "strong" because sometimes the bravest thing to do is face your issues and open up and show your emotions and he needs to see that he's worthy of love and he should allow Callum to love him back instead of pushing him away, and realise it's okay to need help sometimes/ask for help. They are really doing a good job of showing how this affects the person and their partner. Both of my grandparents were almost completely deaf. People who are blaming Phil really don't understand that a lot of this is how Ben feels about himself, he doesn't feel like himself. Phil could die tomorrow and that wouldn't change. A major disability will do that to anyone when they first endure it.

Why those girls laughed I will never understand. Still, I feel like Ben is falling out of love with Callum. When the boat accident took place he stopped at nothing to get Callum back and then there was that time where he though Callum was leaving and begged him. Not he’s going back to his criminal ways to prove a point by Phil. He’s not exactly lovely gushy with Callum anymore and it doesn’t look like there’s a spark anymore when he looks at Callum.
Bottom line is a few months ago “for Callum I would” and not it’s “Phil this and dad that” he’s clearly going back to his old ways and not being able to hear is no excuse. He’s taking Callum for a ride. I don’t think there will be wedding bells and I can’t see their relationship surviving... not unless I’m proven otherwise (by future EE episodes)

Nuh. It’s as painful scene- but they’re hardly even giving Ben and Callum a glance. They might not even have noticed them, just laughing about something else. I read the situation and the camera angles as being much more about Ben’s own insecurities and vulnerability in the crisis he’s going through, not that much about random people’s reactions. It’s sad and painful for sure, because we see it from Ben’s perspective, he’s sad and hurting. But the people at the bar might not even have noticed anything.

Ben suffered a lot during his childhood. It left a big scar. I know how it feels to be unloved and considering that he is also gay just adds to the complexity of his relationship towards his father. All he wants is to be loved and accepted.
Ben breaks my heart, he's been through so much, you can see how much he's suffering but he's trying to put on a brave front and hide it but he doesn't need to but Phil has taught him too as he's made him feel like its weak to feel/show his emotions and open up and he's still struggling with losing Paul. It's so upsetting how he feels that he can't be loved and can't see why someone would love him because he's never really been loved by anyone except Paul (who was probably the first one who truly loved him) and now Callum, not even his own father loves him because he doesn't fulfil this idea he's got of a perfect son, well he doesn't need to be a "hard man" who can hear and be strong all the time and who loves women, Ben is amazing the way he is and should be loved for who he is, if I was his family I'd love him even more and would be the proudest family member you could meet, I hope one day Phil realises how amazing his son is and finally loves him for who he is. There's so much stuff he hasn't faced and dealt with. He's so worthy of love and he is an amazing person but he doesn't show it or see it, breaks my heart how much he hates himself and I reckon he's also afraid to be in a relationship after everything with Paul in case it repeats itself. I really hope he gets through all this because he deserves to be happy and he's so worthy of love, he needs to see that he doesn't always have to be this "hard man" who's always "strong" because sometimes the bravest thing to do is face your issues and open up and show your emotions and he needs to see that he's worthy of love and he should allow Callum to love him back instead of pushing him away, and realise it's okay to need help sometimes/ask for help. I hope one day Ben can be happy and overcome his insecurities because he's so insecure and realise all these things, he deserves it. Also words can't begin to say how amazing Max Bowden is, you can see how hard he works and his emotions are so convincing, it's not easy doing the things he does in the show but he has been absolutely phenomenal!
