Unpolluted by no damn commercials! Big thumbs up for that!!!!@
"we haven't played together in the past 6 weeks... I hope you don't mind..."
Jimi was sometimes very cynical about his audience...he would flip off people, turn his back to the audience, etc. This happened frequently as his final two years progressed.
He was such a sweet man ❤
3 guys and their instruments! So awesome. A lost art for most of the music out there right now.
The jam band & guitar world is filling more seats than most any other genre. I am, gladly, not sure what you are talking about at all here. Get searching, there's some genius stuff still being made. ..and much of it is even in production styles that old rock dads & gramps like us appreciate. GL.
These guys didn't need fancy pyrotechnics or elaborate stage design and effects. The magic was all in the incredible music
I certainly can not argue with the magic being in the music, but, LOL, Jimi lighting his guitar on fire, while on stage, to close out a performance may very well be the origin of Pyrotechnics. 😜

“We were requested to play All Along the Watch Tower but I forgot the words so we will play Voodoo Child for you”. Then Jimi proceeds to play a 14minute rendition of the song, what a fucking legend!! 😎
Fucking legend
if he didn't wear earplugs his brainal matter would've bled out
Fuck man saw him live in 1970 at the Isle of White - we had just come from our first tour of NI (Aden 2 years before) me and my mates from 1 Para - the fucking hippies had long hair and ours was crew cut - but did we give a fuck ?
And I am 75 now - but still rocking man
Love him ,but God Dam he killed himself waaaay to quick!
I was in Europe 73-4 and missed him
even the camera was on acid.
Luckily I've seen this concert elsewhere, this is difficult to watch because it was, as you eluded to, almost certainly recorded with a cell phone off another viewer. Definitely psychedelic....as unintended as it may have been.
And the musician
Purple Haze LSD orange double dimple LSD orange Sunshine LSD white heart LST
The roadies just soaked everything in liquid LSD about 45 minutes before showtime.

He Doesn't. Sad.
I'm here for the band
I’m just going to do the drug testing for the best sound effects ☮️💜🇺🇸🎸🐂
El Dios de la guitarra eléctrica por siempre Inmortal
Solo verlo oír su voz y como tocaba es siempre super emocionante ayer hoy mañana y siempre
Great Jazz/Rock Drummer..... Love his style
And to think Mitch hated rock music
@@user-kr3wx7hw5u I agree with him!! I'm glad he didn't play any! One of my favorites since '68 (Love Jazz, blues, real R&B, Classical...) I don't consider JHE as rock- just a mixture of music's not limited.😊
Yeah Mitch is an octopus God
Influenced by Elvin Jones, who was John Coltrane's amazing drummer. Cool to think of those parallel worlds.
Mitch Mitchell grooving and keeping the pace of the band!!! Superb drummer that influenced great drummers of 70'!
One of the best I ever heard
my favorite drummer of all time.
You are so stupid. Jimi Hendrix are the greatest guitarplayer that have ever lived.
@@tarjapuolakka7263 No faltes al respeto man.
Alex Van Halen and Mitch Mitchell two of the best wingmen ever - so important to the sound
I'm so glad that my driver's license says I'm an 'Old Dude.' Had that not been true, I wouldn't have been able to see Jimi perform live
Me too! I'm an old saw him live in '68 great seats at Woodstock '69 not such great seats 😅 all you need is to hear him playing
Red House. Every time gets me at how great he was. He couldn't read music, but he can Play. That's all right, I still got my guitar...
Do you play left handed and upside down like Jimi? Just playin'. Jimi was special.
For guitar and bass it's largely pattern based on the asymmetry of the where the notes are located on the fretboard as they relate to how the strings are tuned. It's these imperfections that make it more 'memorable' to learn a guitar compared to that of a piano for example with a purely linear note layout. Of course playing a piano is also pattern based in terms of chord shapes and which fingers do what but what but where are the right notes? They all seem to look the same alternating between black ard white keys so you have no choice really in learning how to read sheet music. Getting to that point can takes months or years possibly whereas on a guitar I could teach you to play a song or two in afternoon without any sheet music required.
Srv couldn't read music either
It’s hard to believe it’s been over 50 years since Jimi left us. He was gone before I was even born. I was born in 1974. I never actually knew a world with Jimi in it. Strange how someone who was gone before you were born can have such a profound effect on your life. The day I heard Jimi play the Star Spangled Banner on a flat tape deck in my friends room, when I was 13, my life changed forever. I’ve been playing guitar since that day.
He was alive when I was born but not for long, he died when I was about 9 months old. So, I never got to see him play while he was alive. Had to learn about him as I grew into a child.
You morphed into a child🤣😂😅😆😉@@ChildOfThe1970s
I got to spend a few years with Mr. Hendrix. Was born in 60. Remember seeing him at Woodstock and on the Dick Cavette show and various other shows and concerts. No I wasn't at Woodstock but my brother in law was. All my memories are from seeing him on TV.
I saw him play twice...in a weird way, he re-arranged some of my ways of thinking...for the rest of my life! Unique is the word for Hendrix.
It’s so funny and cool seeing Noel and Mitch hurry to their instruments when Jimi starts killing floor.
Killing the fucking floor
Lol he starts and Mitch is still setting up a cymbal lol. Hes also out of tune but its only slight. He would bend and use that whammy bar to keep best in tune
2:11 - '... You wouldn't know the difference anyway' ... HAHA! Jimi was a born comedian. As well as one of the best guitarists that ever lived. This is a stellar concert.
So honest, he played his heart out🙌🏼 love u Jimi
Remember also Jimmy was a veteran and jumped from helicopters and war planes
Actually, Hendrix was making fun of his audience, not respecting them much!
@@rroulette2660 Helicopters?...no...but airplanes, yes--26 times. But he purposely goofed off so much, that the Army dismissed him, after 13 months. That is what Jimi wanted.
‘On the whole, I can’t understand why anyone on this tour who saw us could have liked us. There was a lot of filming for Swedish TV and compared to similar films in 1967, we were a different group. Jimi was sullen and removed and actually slagged off the audience during the first set. He rarely bothered to sing. I paced grimly in my corner and turned my back on him. The sparkle was gone, very gone, replaced by exhaustion and boredom which showed in the sloppy repeats of the hits as we stared at the crowd with dead eyes. We hated playing Sweden. Always the same problem- no drugs. We were forced to drink the killer Schnapps and it brought on Jimi’s mood for the first set. In desperation I went out between shows and with much persistence managed to score a leaper. We huddled anxiously over the dressing room table, crushed the pill into a powder, shared it out, and snorted it. The second show was much more together and enthusiastic. But no wonder Chas was leary when Jimi approached him about management during our Swedish tour. Besides, Jeffrey owned Jimi. And even Jimi didn’t want the Experience to break up. It was his only sure earner.’

Noel Redding &Carol Appleby,
1990, @pp.113&114.
Thank you for your consideration and where can I purchase this book? Please advise me Lone Eagle.
Jimi is definitely not feeling it but Noel's bass playing is pretty awful during this period to be honest. Pretty much playing all of Jimi's parts and not even changing keys with Jimi anymore 😕
Interesting view. I think it's a great performance
I remember in 1967 when he brought the first record home... I actually thought Hendrix was a space alien 👽 what did I know? I was 13... Anyway life long Hendrix fanatic here!! 56 years. Uhh .. I think you're observation on this show and the original lineup and everything else you said is totally fucked up! with a fine layer of cow shit on top!! Sorry your take is wrong, wrong,wrong.... No hate intended. This show is up there with any live stuff in the history of sound in general, crossing all dimensions at life forming cerebral molecular consciousness and spectral color circuits.😑🔥💥🤯👋
Noel Redding was a whining prick , every interview I've ever seen of him he's ACTUALLY complaining about being in a band with the greatest guitarist to ever live .
Brilliant Hendrix Experience jam. A great watch.
Not brilliant...just good.
QUÉ MÚSICO TAN REVOLUCIONADO!!! FUERA DE LO COMÚN
“Spanish castle magic”..is my favorite song by Jimi Hendrix.
Under-valued.
Same here.
From a good soul I haven't met: "I didn't know I could miss someone so heavily who died before I was born, until I met Hendrix on his guitar, playing on my parents' 8 track"
No words can do this man band justice it's just what it was and will forever be❤
It’s incredible to get to witness this genius at work in his prime. God bless the internet. Thank you to whomever had the foresight to record the entire show in 1969. History on film.
For all those humans that did not get to see these masters in the 1960’s this is hands down the best recorded set of Jimmy Hendrix and the band were all generations can witness musical greatness at its finest.
Life changer for me

Hard to imagine that these fantastic musicians are no longer with us.
Fabulous playing and legends now and what sounds they have left us, thanks guys, still listening, RIP Jimi and Noel and Mitch.
Well said. Always listening. X
Jimi is the Greatest guitarist of All Time..
Hands down
Buckethead
Right before Jimi goes into the solo in Hey Joe you see him turn on his Fuzz Face and quickly reach down and turn UP the Volume control and turn DOWN the Fuzz control... I bring this up because in the guitar world many insist Jimi usually kept both controls dimed (on 10). Dave Wayer (a tech that worked on and sometimes modified Jimi's gear in '68-'69) insisted Jimi's Fuzz Faces came in with the Vol on 10 and the Fuzz on 2'ish. This footage here actually aligns with what Dave said, that Jimi was using the Fuzz Face as a "boost" to further drive the front of the overdriven amps.
Of course there is evidence that Jimi dimed the Fuzz Faces too (squealing silicon FF when Wah engaged) but this footage shows Jimi definitely adjusted his fuzz levels and probably more often than people think. I believe I recall him adjusting the fuzz a few times throughout the BOG footage too.
Anyways, just a Hendrix/guitar nerd pointing out something I thought interesting.
It's sad concert like this to have only 500k views hey Jimi sing something good to me this world goes crazy it's a emergency...
37:07 jimi calls for red house to be played in B.
noel plays an A on his bass.
jimi starts red house in B, ending on a B chord, noel plays an A.
hendrix changes the song to A, slowly walking down the A minor blues scale before the band comes in playing red house in A.
such an awesome moment, such an interesting band dynamic-
whether noel genuinely mistook the song key for A, or whether he refused to play what hendrix wanted; the fact that we get to see that jimi was willing/able to make changes on the fly when his bandmate isn’t doing their job is amazing.
Back then a lot of people probably didn't notice that and those that did appreciate it just like you Bravo
👏🏼 what a beautiful vibe these guys shared 🤧
that’s so crazy, even knowing how he doesn’t know anything about music theory. he just knows how to transcribe anything
not sure, Im tuned to Eb here and they play Red House at the 6th not 7th fret (Bb). The Experience tuned to Eb. Buggered if I know whats happening here though. We lent Noel a bass when he toured here to new zealand in about 1994
@@LONEEAGLE_space_rock For most of the set Hendrix seems to be tuned to D standard, u can hear it in Hey Joe, but I might be wrong
You are the best ever
Being in tune in those days was hell
No modern sound technology no modern lights only his insane skills in guitar
He was a godlike talent, too bad he can't make music anymore
He died when he was only 27
He created all this music when he was very young
No shit sherlock.
First time I heard him play voodoo Chile at record tempo. He usually plays at like %110 tempo speed and it sounds a little rushed but this was just right
The drums back then had so much feeling!
Yep.
Uno delos qetrasmite buenas rolas son historia
All the great bands those days. Hendrix, the Doors, Santana, Led Zeppelin, Allman brothers to name a few. We are just stuck with crap nowadays
what a bs - so much great music around - just have to look out for it
This is so original. Legendary
That solo on spanish castle magic blows me away everytime jimi was on form on this gig i saw him twice best electric guitarist ever
Hendrix is incredible his control on the guitar is perfect for a young man his blues on red House is from another planet
I saw Jimi 3 times!! amazing.....
With this unique jazz of Jimmy and Experience, enjoyment always and forever
J.I.M.I.
Jimi Hendrix, guitar, Noel Redding bass y Mitch Mitchell. drums , saludos desde Colombia
We have to play good for them so cute he was an angelic person❤
❤sweeeeeeet
The best live concert of all time raw brilliance can you imagine being there wow.!!!!
I’d love to see Zeppelin live in 72
I was there!! 13 years old :) I don't think we were aware of what we were witnessing!
I’m sure the sound in person would have been all-consuming
Concordo
@@tottelager2250awesome, lucky! Who could ever have comprehended what they were hearing. I still can't.
Thank God this video exists. Hendrix is one out of infinity
He clearly wasn’t happy with his sound. But always amazing
Still sounds better than me when happy with my sound lol

It may b the recording
Lots of hissing in the background but could be from the mics feed backing
Hendrix es la luuuuuuuuuuuuz
I remember the first time I heard this man playing guitar; I still think the same "is there only one guitar in there?"
Timeless always be amazing
Jimi Hendrix è stato il più grande chitarrista di tutti i tempi 😊❤
When Jimi's out of tune and knows it. His attitude is F' it , just step on the Fuzz pedal , and let it rip 💥 Now it's in tune "
Le meilleur set, quelle chance d'avoir vécu ces années magnifiques.
Нет слов, очень круто!
So nice to hear the bass
Problem though...Redding was not a good bassist...just adequate...and by this time, he and Hendrix were totally pissed off with each other. A few months after this, Redding was no longer playing bass for Hendrix.
Love how Jimi played on the edge of continual feedback… it was so out of control - total mayhem - controlled chaos
-
No one has done it since
Agree
Noone will ever compare. Jimi is the absolute best of us, and he had the best rhythm section the world.
"I dedicate this show to the American Deserters Society"
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
George Orwell.
If this is as close as I’ll get to seeing Hendrix, I am ok with that. I find comfort and excitement in the unknown of what seeing a concert would’ve been like.
The one and only. His musicianship is otherworldly and it’s no wonder I refer to him as “the big bang of electric guitar”
Oldies but baddies. 🤣🤣. He's genuinely modest for being one of the all time greatest guitarists ever. If that performance was bad then his good performances must be so good they open a rift in the fabric of the universe.
They do!...look for them!
Thanks to the camera man and good recorder
Saw him at a venue in Boston shortly after I got out of the military in 70. The back of the stage was a wall of amps stacked about 6 high.
He is one of the Club 27. One of the amazing heroes who is born in the false century ... in the century of industrie and captilasim ... in our century of plastic, digitalism and capitalism is no place for emotions and REAL guitar music
Dont delete this please. This versión it's great
I watch this 3 times a month, since I found it
What a fenominal recording! Performance is stellar. That bass in the Marshall stack. That sound is never surpassed ever!!
Probably the best vide I ahe seen of Jimi, showing his playing so clearly. Thanks
He looked so bummed out. Wonder what was up that night. Still cool to see the entire show
They couldn't find drugs in Sweden... That's what Noel Redding said... 😅
Well...there was something UP later that night, with Eva!
Hendrix forever!!
At just shy of 14 minutes in this video Jimi begins a Voodoo Child type of strumming and then proceeds to make sure that Noel Redding knows what bass notes to play for the remainder of Spanish Castle Magic.
Thank you for posting. Jimi appears to be a bit 'under the weather' here. I saw him in Atlanta in 1970 & he was dead on.
he was so tired bless his heart he was so fucking tired
I found the right thing to listen to :)
Dude omg like him playing that guitar like that gave me chills..it’s crazy
Awesome 💯
Thank you for sharing! Which famous guitarist today would touch the knobs of the amps on stage by himself.
Fan de Jimi depuis ma tendre enfance... La rencontre avec Miles m'aurais fait plaisir. Merci pour ce partage....
One of the best 3 piece bands ever, grew up spinning these songs on vinyl 😎
He was left handed but left handed guitars were hard to find. So he learned to play a right handed guitar upside down which means he was ambidextrous but to use a right handed guitar he had to visualize how to play his chords upside down which means he was a genius, like Amadeus, and probably dyslexic too
Upside down & inside out. He was a savant with a Stratocaster but before he was famous he got experienced playing 2nd fiddle back up rhythm
1964 for the Isley Brothers at 15
1965 and Good Gawd Almighty Little Richard too ... but by
1966 he WAS the Experience all over London
1967 Hells Angels & lighting FIRE all over Monterey
1968 Orange 'Sunshine' that was fun
1969 at Woodstock he was the one
1970 and Jimi rocked our world until Jimi was done
This has always been a bit of a misconception. He actually never played his guitar strings as if they were upside down. he simply took a right handed guitar, positioned it with the neck in left hand instead of right, then re-strung it accordingly... ..exactly as he would if it were a left handed guitar. the only things that changed a bit were the volume/tone controls, pickup switch, and tuning keys were on the upper side instead of lower... as they would have been if it were a lefty. His playing of chords and single notes were no different than if it were a left handed guitar. A right handed guitarist could easily do the same thing if given a left handed guitar. If a righty guitarist re-strung the same way Jimi did it, his actual playing on a lefty guitar would be the exact same as learned on right handed. No change in technique would be needed. The only difference would be in turning the volume and tone up and down, those controls would be on the upper side of the guitar instaed of the lower. Not any big deal for any guitarist to do so and once strings are restrung, there is no change ion playing technique necessary. Quite a few right handed guitarists have done the same thing by taking a lefty, re-stringing right and playing normally which gives the same look of Hendrix... appearing to play with guitar "upside down"....but by re-stringing, the actually playing mechanics are the same and no change in technique is necessary.
Not to take away from Hendrix's brilliance as an artist, just saying that the guitar being right handed was a non-issue because the way he strung it (upside down), essentially made his playing exactly the same as if it was a proper left handed guitar.
My mother always tells me when we talk about hendrix that she never went to this perticualar concert because, in her own words, "Hendrix was just alot noise". In my opinion that is what makes hendrix so great, the fact that he can create such controlled chaos. Also my mom never took acid and listened to voodoo child, so yea xD
Гитара на выворот под левую руку это что то с чемто невообразимое!!!
SALUDOS DESDE LIMA PERÚ
Yes. Simply one of the best musical takes in history
Я и не знал что так можно!!! Великолепный!!!
Notice his mood kinda fell when he’d get into Fire and the other hits. When that Fuzz is engaged he goes to a whole other place, which obviously was where he felt comfortable and connected.
43:00+ Mitch even knew how to incorporate his syncopated style even on slow jams. Brilliant drummer.
That intro of Killing Floor at 2:15 properly aligned some planets on a subatomic level.
Love this
Most definitely 🔁
I saw a alien when he played that.😂🎸
I love how Jimi reaching for those right notes with feeling and heart!!!and who plays like Jimi?? NOBODY!!
I could not agree more. His mistakes were most people's brightest moments on the guitar. A natural and gifted like no other. He understood not just sound, but noise and the things that could happen when you played without rules. Thank the good Lord there was a Jimi. The two greatest moments in the history of electric rock and blues music was the entire Monterey set and his performance of "Machine Gun" at The Fillmore on December 31, 1969. That was not a song, but a perfect interpretation in words, music, and sound; a painting of the ugliness of war... Just ridiculous...
I Love how Jimi Always had sarcastic comments against the war. Mitches Drums here sound Big, Full, Fat and Amazing BC He was behind them. I Adore Mitch. I Love both eras of Hendrix Oh Man.
WOW!!!! I wish i was born in that time. Real music played from the soul. What a gift to the world.
Grande por siempre.
Imagine the smartphone used to record this

so he passed away 27 is not the age
rest in peace genius
We have really gotten away from brilliant musicianship like this in pop culture today 😕
I agree
Yeah like 5 mins in I told my wife "We need more musicians these days playing music THEY like."
We have some great ones now like Gary Clark Jr. so all hope is not lost.
Barek you are right brother there is no soul in rock and roll anymore instead of searching for all these corny hits they should be searching like jimi for an experience something influential something classic instead of stolen riffs poured thru speakers not even performed by the artists themselves .
Legendary musicians still exist. You just have to know where to look.
Thank you so much for this incredible video. Jimi was a legend. Often imitated, never duplicated.
Meu parceiro preto é Deus mais talento não tem cor sou seu fã para tamo junto irmão eu vi e vivi eu tá vá lá em 69
I just don't understand how anyone can play like that. Definitely not something you learn but are born with
Jimi actually studied and practiced guitar very hard, to achieve what he did.
What a Desire to Play Great music!!
Beautifully attached to the hip, band!
