  • The Slave Narratives consists of iconic excerpts from literature that preserve the life and legacy of many unknown African-American slaves. Columbia State faculty, staff, students and retirees will bring the lives of these brave men and women to stage through live narration - they will highlight the perseverance of a race of people that were bound, dehumanized, abused and treated as property.

Thank God for the people who had the foresight to record these stories for all generations to come.

When we allow evil to grow evil is what we will come to know.

While it was a good idea to record the histories of those people, the best way to appreciate their stories is to review them in person.
In this day and age, the stories in this video were more likely than not chosen to fit a 2022 narrative of history.
We need the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Real facts matter, and nothing less should be settled for.

Seems as if you're looking for "happy" or balanced accounts of slavery. There was no happy slavery and no balance in slavery. Slavery is the history of the violence and brutality of white people against black people and sometimes Native Americans. You want the real truth of slavery? Read a book. There are several very good ones that you should put your eyes on.

@@bernadettemamaker8209 Apparently you have no knowledge about slavery beyond what Leftists have told you (clearly you don't take your own advice and "READ.")
The story of man is repleat with men and women enslaving their neighbors and "the others."
Your handlers want you fixated on the narrative they provide. You are being deceived and enslaved to their lies.
When it comes to enslavement, every race and creed on the planet has blood on their hands.
Are you aware that the largest and most brutal slave owner in the old American South was a black man? I'll bet not.
Do you know that slavery continues to this day in larger numbers than ever?
Likely not. Because learning the truth will destroy that carefully constructed narrative feed to you by your political masters. That narrative that you rely on to prove either your victim hood or compassion. That narrative that gives you, and others like you, permission to hate, yet do nothing.
It's up to you if you stay ignorant. The truth can be found wthout a ton of effort.
Nothing is ever as it seems, and there is always two sides to every story.
Fact: Life is not simply black or white. It's various shades of gray.
The authoritarians among us want group think. And they want groups suspicious of and fighting each other so that they can go about their plans unimpeded. Do yourself a favor, and stop drinking their kool-aid.

What are you talking about? These stories came directly from formerly enslaved people.
