young white elites, clueless about anything before their 20 some years on the planet. Here we watch Morris Day and the Time schooling 'EVERYON'E' about what the real FUNK sounds like. Their loss, notice you don't hear much from Bruno Mars these days, he's a talented kid with a love of the funk, but much of his work is sampling, , not that anyone in THIS audience would know what that means. I’ve been watching Bruno since he was just a little kid, when he was about 5 years old. I’ve seen him in concert and hosted his after party in Hawaii. So, if anyone could pull off a tribute to such an iconic performer such as Prince, it would be Bruno Mars. I got choked up watching this video from the beginning!
Have you seen Freddie Mercury live? He makes all these modern artists look like losers. Freddie did Pushups on stage and ran around like someone on steroids. No one matches his stage presence or energy. Not even Michael Jackson came close to the stage presence of Freddie Mercury.
not crapping on Bruno, but there are TONS of artists that play and sing. I have the feeling you only listen to pop or R&B, because the rock and country genres are literally FLOODED with extremely talented artists that both sing and play. And again, not crapping on Bruno, but there are many in both the genres I mentioned that either equal or surpass Bruno's singing and playing talents. Now, they dont dance as well, at least not to Bruno's level, but they definitely sing/play though
I love Bruno so much because he's one of the few actually talented artists today. He's the total package. Voice, look, musician, dance, etc and he's respectful of music and the greats like Prince, MJ, James Brown, etc.

The Time did an amazing job...too bad so many people in the audience were too young to appreciate what that really meant. Prince grew up with them. They really knew him. Of course, Bruno did a great job.

I think he was just trying to tell everyone to stop saying that "Bruno was no Prince, but..... " lol. Not saying that bruno was mistaken for Morris Day.
He is one of the few artists of this generation that my ears are inclined to hear. Bruno has wide range (musically and vocally) and you can tell each song is of high quality-they can each stand the test of time on their own. Bruno's workmanship is palpable.
How much confidence does it take to get up on stage at the Grammys and try to cover Prince. Gotta give Bruno credit for even having the stones to do it. In the end, he did it justice. He's a great entertainer himself. Maruice Day and the Time, man it was great to see them again. They looked great.
How right you are! Incredible that Bruno had the “sheer guts” to get up on that stage, knowing full well the criticism he would undoubtedly receive to try to “cover the extraordinary Prince, but he did it anyway!” Real courage! Bruno knew full well there is only one “PRINCE!”Thank-you to Bruno for not caring what anyone thinks or says or “texts”🤣 & deciding to do this tribute ...,,,” ANYWAY!” The reality is... sadly, PRINCE IS GONE FOREVER 😢, NEVER TO RETURN! Thank-you to the amazing Bruno for bringing the “music of “PRINCE”back”, even if it is so very briefly!” Loved this tribute!!!! Congratulations to everyone participating in this tribute!❤️
Morris Day and The time sounded amazing! Now when it comes to Bruno and the hooligans, I always rewind to this particular part 6:50 - 6:57 . Such a well organized band and the fact that you see Bruno actually enjoying himself while performing, is what makes this so great!
I could be wrong but prince wasn't a fan of artists covering his music let alone his outfit, guitar, and entire style. I just imagine Prince with that severely unimpressed look on his face and then just leaving to do better things 😆
Jordan Turner I think you are right Jordan & believe I read the same thing but, under the circumstances, with him no longer here, maybe he would appreciate that everyone was thinking of him, missed him & this tribute was being done in “his memory”because we all loved & missed him so very much!” Still hard to believe he is gone at such a young age! No one had “the dance moves or musical ability that he did” admittedly but... seeing he is no longer alive, it is great to see this incredible performance that was done to honor his memory, keeping his music & memory alive for us all! You take care Jordan!😄
Just saw Purple Rain again night before last. Saw it in the movies as a teen in 85. One thing Prince did was always encourage other artists. He’d be proud Bruno paying tribute. People need to lighten up.

but everyone knows (and says) performers today suck so........
Bruno was more inFluence by Michael Jackson
@@emmetttill7674 not Bruno but yes I agree all other male performers do
@@ebonix33 he actually has a few influencers around him yes one being MJ and another major one being Elvis Presley but clearly he had some influence by prince just based of this performance alone but yes he said previously in his career he was influenced by price as well he’s said this before his halftime show
Anyone but Bruno would have done Prince wrong
I think Prince would approve of Bruno's rendition of one of his best loved songs of all time! It's not a competition; it's a tribute!
Everything was a competition with Prince. He was a legend, but in his own mind first.
@@bearhall4919 I think she means Bruno is not trying compete with Price. He is doing a respectful tribute.
@Victoria I Agree I think Bruno did a great job 👏🏽 👍🏽👍🏽
Yes yes yes my dear!!!
No, he sounds terrible... he can't play guitar so save his life. If you think he is good then go and stand in the corner in shame lol
How the actual f**k did I miss this performance until now?!?! Mars KILLED it. Vocally, showmanship and he can play guitar like that? A phenom saluting a phenom.
Bruno is literally the Frank Sinatra of this Century, doode can perform like very few, that was good
His better than Frank Sinatra bro and a complete performer
Frank Sinatra was an incredible singer, but not much else. Bruno is an exceptional singer, dancer, multi-instrimentalist, really good songwriter and music producer. He's a very complete package, just like Prince was.
Bruno Mars. He does NOT disappoint. That's why I love this guy. He is nothing but pure talent. Probably the hardest working artist in the business today.
Nah, I don't think he is the hardest working, but he is really good
@Jose Gabriel Villanueva Duabe I totally agree with this, I only said he wasn't the hardest working, because he is so naturally talented
@Jose Gabriel Villanueva Duabe I think he got a lot of inspiration from Michael Jackson, and that may be why i like him so much
Bruno can emulate that 80's sound. I guess it leaves me to believe that he was inspired, not just Michael; but El and Prince, too! I'm 42 years of age and I love me some Bruno Mars.
Prince is LITERALLY my all time favorite artist and I 100% give Bruno props as a real musical talent, he's the real deal. He's not a fabricated "thing" produced by the machine. He's the real deal imo.
You right my man...I love Bruno...I saw his CD in Best Buy the last one...been at least 3 yrs ago...I could not remove it from my players inside and in my car...I am crazy about Bruno...He did Prince justice...Like I was crazy about my Prince Na!!! Everybody was Na!!!
I saw this Trubute on TV a year ago...I could not believe my eyes and ears Wow!!! Be blessed

To see one of my new Favorites… play my ALL TIME FAVORITE…. DID IT FOR ME. BIG UPS BRUNO
Prince himself admired Bruno. Prince sent a Bruno a hand written letter to say that
@@abdulrhmanw8297 That is So cool to know.
He did Prince proud with this tribute
Bruno's Prince tribute, gave me chills. I loved me some PRINCE😘
I love how bored the young Generation of artists look when Morris Day and the Time are performing. They don’t realize they’re watching legends.
Bruno is on another level.
disrespectful, in my opinion. its their loss except for ppl who actually know abt prince and his era of musicians
I was just thinking that 93% of those celebrities have no idea who The Time is and have no clue at all as to what they have to do with Prince. Morris Day and the Time FTMFW!
They're are only famous because of prince and a song prince wrote nothing special about them
@@paulcosta5854 Yes that’s very true. Bruno’s music is definitely a mix’n’match of old music but there’s no denying he’s a great performer.
Iv seen Prince live 3 times and Bruno once.
Prince was on a level Bruno would only dream of.
young white elites, clueless about anything before their 20 some years on the planet. Funk ruled the 80s. 😉👍 Morris Day band is live tight, and funky
Eric Clapton was once asked: “How does it feel being the greatest guitarist of all time?”
He answered: “When I see Prince I’ll ask him!”
Jimi Hendrix...
@@dickhardpicard Surpassed Hendrix imo and was a musical genius of several genres
umm how about Jimmy Page or Stevie Ray Vaughn
@@alexlopez8613 Did they have several groups they produced?..Did they write for countless artists?..Are they known by every racial group?..Do they have a musical building?..That's just tip of Iceberg..Go to their page if u think they rival his talent..You'll be sorely disappointed.

Bruno looks so freaking hot channelling Prince!!! Shee-it, he can make that guitar sing!!!
Not many artists can both sing AND perform, Bruno Mars is top tier at BOTH. Prince would be proud
Have you seen Freddie Mercury live? He makes all these modern artists look like losers. Freddie did Pushups on stage and ran around like someone on steroids. No one matches his stage presence or energy. Not even Michael Jackson came close to the stage presence of Freddie Mercury.
@@hugomarx6479 "Not many artist" you don't need to put Freddie in this conversation
Wrong!!!!!
Disgusting!!! Bruno looks stupid trying to dress like Prince!! lol!!
not crapping on Bruno, but there are TONS of artists that play and sing.
Say what you will, Mars held His own on this.
ok, but I just got done seeing Prince doing this.
BRUNO may be the closest thing at this point. Prince has been gone over a year
How could you have just seen him doing this?
This the new normal Bruh
False!

I LOVED this. No, its not Prince but it sure was a worthy tribute. Bruno Mars is awesome!
I get goosebumps everytime I watch this.Brunos tribute to Prince is one of the best performances of the Grammys ever.
Bruno is a gift to those of us that grew up on Soul music and Motown hits. I love him!
awesome tribute to prince 🤴
He's what u call talent!!!!!
He is very cool. Love his music. Motown is how i think of Bruno!
AMEN!
Me too. I'm 59, living in the Netherlands and never seen him life.
And that's number one, on my bucketlist.
Love Silk Sonic and Bruno Mars.
I love Bruno so much because he's one of the few actually talented artists today. He's the total package. Voice, look, musician, dance, etc and he's respectful of music and the greats like Prince, MJ, James Brown, etc.
The Times&Bruno are fantastic!!Bruno has become a legend in his own time.Much respect goes out to him and the musicians that plays with him. Morris Day&The Time haven't lost a thing!!They still kick ads too!!I enjoyed the hell outta that concert!!Bless you Guys!!
True. Can't believe how my sister's grandson could be Bruno's twin 😄

Wow he did his thing..if you closed your eyes you could almost feel and think it was prince playing and making that guitar sing..Awesome job Bruno loved it
Completely different voice. But respectable performance.
Could not have picked anyone better to pay tribute to Prince than Morris Day and Bruno! I'm sure Prince is smiling down on them ❤🔥
The Time did an amazing job...too bad so many people in the audience were too young to appreciate what that really meant. Prince grew up with them. They really knew him. Of course, Bruno did a great job.
Yes all their life, and morris should also be recognized for all the beautiful ideas he gave prince@ vice versa that's why no matter how big prince got in his heart he never forgot about morris!!
Dazed and Confused 😘
Jay and Silent Bob would agree!!
Noooo, the audience was very much down with The Time!!!

That Bruno embodied Prince.😢 incredible ❤️🔥 ❤️🔥 ❤️🔥 ❤️🔥
Dang Bruno! That was genius. That was truly an awesome tribute.
I didn't know Bruno could play the guitar like that! INCREDDDD!
Prince wud of stood up for this performance himself, off da chain. Real music rite here folks and I'm watching it on CZcams.
this guy just rips off artist. prince wouldn't go for this.
@PunchQuote it's a tribute dumbarse, how is it ripping him off??
As an old-school Prince/Revolution Head, I am 100%, totally feeling Bruno's interpretation. Don't think anyone else could do it better.
The right man to play/sing that song. Prince was smiling down on him.
I totally agree!
Young humans, that's Morris Day and the Time
Morris wasnt on that stage. It was The Time backing Bruno Mars
Take that back. Morris did his own song in the same performance. But it was Bruno in the Purple suit. Why they let Morris take that moment away from Prince idk but go figure
Why is JC look like a whole Grandpa dancing]😅🤣😆😂😄😃
I think he was just trying to tell everyone to stop saying that "Bruno was no Prince, but..... " lol. Not saying that bruno was mistaken for Morris Day.
@@cinnamondavidson770 morris day was produced by prince and the arrangement s as well
Bruno really played a great tribute
Indeed it was great to see Morris Day & The Time!
The Purple one was pleased.
We know you're not a fan you spelled Morris Day name wrong
@Shock lies
Prince would be proud at that guitar solo at the end. Well done Bruno
Morris Day even had Jay-Z movin. That says a lot about his and The Time’s legendary impact. Respect.
Morris Day and The time sounded amazing! Now when it comes to Bruno and the hooligans, I always rewind to this particular part 6:50 - 6:57 . Such a well organized band and the fact that you see Bruno actually enjoying himself while performing, is what makes this so great!
They are a tight band
Hey That was cool but did you see this young Bruno clip? czcams.com/video/9eFpq2CwC7Q/video.html
Now that, that is how you do a tribute.
Damn good job, Bruno.
You did Prince justice Bruno. He would be proud!!
OMG I'm speechless when Jay Z claps dang you know your music Bruno...
How right you are! Incredible performances!❤️
Dafinatelayyy!!!
Just saw Purple Rain again night before last. Saw it in the movies as a teen in 85. One thing Prince did was always encourage other artists. He’d be proud Bruno paying tribute. People need to lighten up.
bruno mars hit it out the park.

Bruno Mars is so versatile
Most fans of the late great Prince know he wasn't a big fan of people covering his music. But I think he would have been alright with this one. Bruno Mars is just as talented and if anyone would do a cover of Prince respectfully and with so much feeling it's Bruno❤
This was one of those performances he would have visibly enjoyed and then said he hated it. 😂

Bruno Mars is so very talented singing playing the guitar and he has the moves.
