No, the superlaser was the whole point of the station.
The Geonosians always planned for the superlaser, and in legends I'm pretty sure they got the idea from ancient sith weapons made from massive kyber crystals to create huge lasers. So they always had the plans to build the planet destroying weapon properly and most likely even better than the empire by themselves. The empire just took credit for all the work done on the death star, and completely covered up the massacre of the geonosian people and everyone else who had involvement in the plans.
The Geonosians 100% knew about the kyber crystals needed, and with enough time I have no doubt that they would've been able to find a way to harness the power efficiently. If the Geonosians weren't certain of this then they wouldn't have continued with the plans.

I’m a soldier, an infantryman. The thing I appreciate about the clone wars is how they get combat right. The scene where the clones all continued to man the machine gun after each one goes down is remarkably accurate. Someone must always be on a gun at all times, they take priority over everything else including casualties. The way they take up defensive positions, how they move, their jargon, it’s all very accurate and I always enjoy the fact that the creators of the show did such a good job. They must’ve spent time around the military. Not everything they do is right, their command structure and unit structure confuses me, but everything else is borderline immaculate

Here they just took everything in with them into enemy aa which lead to what we saw here, very cool scenes but this showcases just how the Jedi were at handling warfare early on into the war, they got better though

Consequences of campaigns like Umbara and Kamino make them more memorable, but there's something about the tenacity in the face of sheer exhaustion and hopelessness on the part of the Republic that isn't replicated in any other campaign in TCW show. Wish we could get a Dedicated Game with only the Battle of Geonsosis 1st and 2nd battle, a squad system similar to Republic Commando but you are just an average Clone Trooper or sergeant or captain (which ever) and just be like a grim and gritty tactical Squad Type of Shooter, if I mean dedicated game I mean Literally the Whole Game is about the battle of Geonosis you literally play Different clones from different generals and units etc so we could also experience those damn Caves the clones got lost and killed in imagine the game being gritty and Dark and you actually get to see the horrors of those damn Bugs…. Holy Shit that would be an Amazing Game…. 🥲

This is gonna sound so random and fuck I’ll admit it definitely is. I watch landing at Point Rain every night falling asleep. I have a lot of trouble falling asleep to quiet, i always have something on in the background but I find if it’s people talking I get to focused on what’s being said. I rather loud noises over speaking. So battles are perfect to fall asleep too. I used to fall asleep to lord of the rings battle of helms deep but recently for the past like year whenever my gf doesn’t sleep over, I fall asleep to landing at point rain. It’s basically a full episode of a battle. It’s like a lullaby to me. I’m willing to bet if you could track how many times you’ve watched something on Disney plus, I have watched it well over 300 times. I’m gonna fall asleep to it again tonight. I can probably recite the first 10 minutes of the episode word for word. Weird and random flex lmao
