OMG! This video is one of the best examples of what a Lotus does best.., and that's DESTROY the competition in the turns. The driver is nailing those corners too!
I just bought an Elise and yes I was getting bored with cars, I started becoming one of those people started seeing cars as practical modes of transportation and this car has made me enjoy cars again. It is the funnest car I have ever drove and I am hooked.
Very skilled driver and a very balanced hp / weight car, ideal for track days. It is going on "rails" and yes, it can break later and accelerate much sooner at the curves, than the very beautiful Lambos..
Both Johnny and Mizell made good points. There are very few cars that handle like a Lotus and can match its power-to-weight ratio. Notice how the driver could get on the power much earlier than the competition. Great driving too, that has to be said.
This guy is a boss. With that many straights and cars with hundreds more horsepower he still took it to them in the corners with that superglue monster car.
great car and more than great driving... this is a perfect example of lightness + capable driver > power... i used to hav an elise... crashed it and swapped it for a mx-5... just love these light cars...
He utilized those turns better than any of the big boys there. On the straight away he was getting burned. That yellow Lambo did what he could until that twisty turn came up.
@psgammer no... it's a Series 1 Exige, the Toyota engine doesn't come in this model. The Toyota engine is only available in the later S2 Exige, which had a completely different rear end under the skin to handle the larger Toyota engine. This car is powered by a Rover K-VHPD.
well said and spot on in your analysis. Lotus are small and light. You could see the lambos and ferraris pull away easily on the straight but because they are heavier the lotus catches the,
@supra1722 The Mk1 Exige uses a tuned version of the Rover K-Series engine Lotus originally fitted to the Elise. Toyota engines started to be used part way through Mk2 production after MG Rover went down the pan (i.e. moved to China) which also had the advantage of making the Elise a more practical proposition for the US market.
I notice this lotus also cleaned up quite a few other lotuses. I notice that several galardos moved over and let him through. This is less a demonstration of giant killing performance and superior car speed, and more a demonstration of superior driving and track knowledge and track craft. Most of the punters are road drivers with little or no track experience. The limit they are up against, is their own confidence.
@OGFISHERMAN777 Wrong, this is a Lotus Exige S1. The original Exige. It's got a normally aspirated Rover engine in the back making either 177bhp or 192bhp depending on factory tune.
The raw power of the ferraris and lambos overtakes the lotus on the straightaways, but becuz the lotus weighs like 10 pounds and has amazing handling, it makes up for it on the tight corners.
Awesome job, but one question, is it really that hard to see out of the rear window, I heard the rear view in the exige is horrendous ? I noticed you're missing your rear view mirror so I wanted to ask.
@Mirron1 yep bro, power isnt everything and that's what lotus is.. their motto is less is more, and they have lightweight cars that have mid-blowingly fast cornering speeds and high g-forces and are such a blast to drive.. and it is a perfect marriage with the buzzy high-strung 2zzge engine :)
@soupdragon151 Yes that's true because a car has more grip, but you're missing the point. I was simply trying to illustrate that power is not the only ingredient required to perform.
lotus really know how to make great little racing cars British engineering at its best!
overtaking on the outside like a boss

Wow, I found myself leaning into the corners on his behalf. Great vid!
Great driving, great Lotus. Amazing to see you overtake so many "super" cars.
finally someone on a track day who actually drives properly!
Turns are the great equalizer. The lotus can't hang in the straights, but more than makes up for it on the curves. Awesome.
im new to the lotus family and hands down ur a god at driving.. this was so entertaining to watch. it nust of been amazing to drive.
Excellent driving, you showed the ability of these great cars. Loving my Elise R.
I'm guessing that's no ordinary Exige, the drivers' track knowledge looks top notch too. He's the boss on that track in that company.
how the lotus closes in just before a corner is incredible. I WANT A LOTUS.
unbelievably good driving, out of this world car
The Exige owns that track. It can break later, accelerate sooner, and owns every curve.
I love how this guy overtakes that first Ferrari on the outside :D

Driver's driving skill is priceless. Thanks for a very interesting video
Really good driving, that thing corners like a house fly!!! :)
very good skills indeed! many corners helps the Lotus!!
Excellent driving !! Cool sound from K Series engine as well !!
Excellent driving. The Lotus Elise is a giant killer.
It sounded almost like the Lamborghini missed a gear at 4:11. Excellent video. Exciting run!
Class A driving!
You have shown the world it's not all about fancy badge and power
It's extremely light and small, It handles like a dream. I would have been surprised if he didn't overtake them.
That is quite the professional driver. The car has to be perfect too but the driving was just superb.
Great Driving Skills! 5/5 !
Magny-Cours, in France !! :-) Awesome driving !! Bravo au pilote, respect !! ;-)
What a fantastic little car :)
Amazing lines..Superb driving! Driver reall pushed the lotus quite far during cornering
Excellent driving, thumbs up for Exige, too!...
Wish F1 still came to this track. Great driving.
great car and more than great driving... this is a perfect example of lightness + capable driver > power... i used to hav an elise... crashed it and swapped it for a mx-5... just love these light cars...
I fairly enjoyed watching this, great. This is where a big heart and proper handling and controls can overpower horsepower :-)
Wow. Exige likes eating Italian V8s, V10s and V12s for breakfast.
Great driving. With such fine handling, 4cyl is really all you need.
Ecxellent driving! Thumbs up for Exige, too...
Screw exercise, this is the best 7 minute abs workout video I've seen in a while... Had me clinched up the whole time... :-)
Obviously some pretty professional driving, and a well behaved lotus!
awesome video thanks for it!
ferraris and lamborghinis have never been more exciting
i had to keep reminding myself to lean back in my chair
He utilized those turns better than any of the big boys there. On the straight away he was getting burned. That yellow Lambo did what he could until that twisty turn came up.
that was insane mate! nicely won!
Great car, great driver, great track...
awesome cornering speeds and late breaking to close the gaps
Simple geometry cutting the corners at a steep angle he's catching up on time that's the way to drive
What a car! what driving! God i love the exige! The driving is amazing.
Sounds like a stage 2 exhaust.... great driving
Haha so true :) I knew someone with a tuned k20 conversion... was only doing like 250bhp but dear lord it was brutal!

damn u had breakfast lunch dinner & a snack. great driving man i cant tell you have years of experience.
Great skills ! Power doesn't mean anything...

Nice and exciting video, -Super driving skills. Nice to see the Lambos and Ferraris getting their ass kicked -Lotus Elise rules!
great driving!
this reminds me of the typical Gran Turismo races you do lol

Just amazing !!
@4:55, the Exige is so fast that it even overtakes... an Exige!
honda K20A engine in a lotus ^^ that is perfect performance in a track... love that Vtec noise
That's no vtec
2:09 the exhaust of the Lambo sings.." she's on fireeee!!! " XD
Amazing!
@OGFISHERMAN777 Wrong, this is a Lotus Exige S1. The original Exige. It's got a normally aspirated Rover engine in the back making either 177bhp or 192bhp depending on factory tune.
Impressive! :)
Just eats the corners. Impressive stuff
wow nice i like it very much
it's the driver+ a perfectly balanced ride :)
To think that these guys are powered by a tuned up celica GT-s motor! Great cars :)
On sent lexpérience du pilote, bravo!
this guys amazing i've been in them lotus in the hands of the right driver its rapid
man this is exactly what shift 2 unleashed looks like!
The raw power of the ferraris and lambos overtakes the lotus on the straightaways, but becuz the lotus weighs like 10 pounds and has amazing handling, it makes up for it on the tight corners.
Great driving but a clearly well modified car. In the corners its grip and braking were way greater than anything out there.
1/2 the weight, 1/2 the beaking, 10x the fun!
5 Stars. I love it
Amazing driver
nice run
I think its mostly this driver being a lot better than all these other cautious drivers but still amazing car.
sick race! Really SICK!! ... Hello Ferrari, Lambo... Excuse me, thanks!
at 2:26 the Lotus knockz the Lambo off hiz line, and he (Lambo) goez into the S-turn at an ugly angle... lol GREAT driving...
Damn...he drives like the devil is on his tail...GO LOTUS!
@archon808 How do you mean? Seemed like a good overtake to me.
the lotus came, it saw, it overtook every damn car at the track, and it conquered.
he has a 2zz-ge engine with a supercharger making 250 on that plus a 2100 pound car means world class handling and corners. PERFECT for track use.
MK1 Exige 190 BHP Rover K series Engine 1.8 naturally aspirated.
with a better engine or some modification in that already, you will pass them even in the straight lines! nice driving and fantastic car.............
That is Magny-Cours in France... it's a cool circuit
this guy is my hero
Anyone know if this exige has the rover lump or the Honda lump inside it?
lotuses are good at turns. but are left behind in a straight stretch!
amazing
Awesome job, but one question, is it really that hard to see out of the rear window, I heard the rear view in the exige is horrendous ? I noticed you're missing your rear view mirror so I wanted to ask.
@Mirron1 yep bro, power isnt everything and that's what lotus is.. their motto is less is more, and they have lightweight cars that have mid-blowingly fast cornering speeds and high g-forces and are such a blast to drive.. and it is a perfect marriage with the buzzy high-strung 2zzge engine :)
Damn ! The title was not lying !
@nagmashot he may be good but that lotus is capable of cornering at break neck speeds it quite simply has a much higher limit than the other cars
this track reminds me of need for speed underground 2 and how much i missed it
It's a normally-aspirated Rover K-series VHPD engine
good!!
@soupdragon151 Yes that's true because a car has more grip, but you're missing the point. I was simply trying to illustrate that power is not the only ingredient required to perform.
This guy is a REALLY good driver. Thinking that maaay have something to do with it lol.
It is light and handles extremely well. What did you expect?
