  • Back in 1992, Boz toured with Donald Fagen's New York Rock & Soul Revue. Here he covers a soulful old tune written by Gamble and Huff and recorded by Joe Simon. Video quality is not too good but a great song and performance.

    Thanks for the download. This is a fantastic! I do believe Boz Scaggs could sing the phone book and he would sound great! This man cannot give a bad performance. He has the most prolific voice in the world. I love this man sooooo much! Boz RULES!!!

    The Boz and Steely Dan were just 2 of the artists that gave me a deeper appreciation of how good some soulful 70s music became a part of my life...Since then, we haven't really seen some decent blues/soul music come around-oh well...

    In case you aren't aware, there is a live cd of this band 'The New York Rock 'n' Soul Review', with Michael McDonald, Phoebe Snow, and Eddie Brigatti (Rascals) also guesting. This track is on there, too. Also, Scaggs and McDonald tour with Fagan as The Dukes of September. A show has been/will be filmed for DVD. In the meantime I recommend (highly) Fagan's new CD, 'Sunken Condos'.

    That was great! I had never seen this before. Being both a Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs fan, this was a great "meeting of the minds" or "playing of the minds" I guess. Two fantastic musicians that you can tell from this performance have a long history of "off stage" friendships it seems. It seems that Boz Scaggs working as a member of Steely Dan or visa-versa would have definitely worked in the late 70's or early 80's. That could have been a SUPER GROUP for sure!

    Boz can sing pretty much anything! This is the blues and he does that as good as any of them.
    He can also sing ballads and songs like Fly L:ike A Bird (don't know what genre that is) but he does it really well. Talented is Boz..

    Saw this band that summer tour in Mansfield,MA.
    Maybe the coolest concert of all time.Mushrooms. When Pheobe Snow sang "Poetry Man" I near floated into the purple air. They did a few encores, I remember they did the Beach Boys "Don't Worry Baby" at the end. Awesome night.

    Every time I listen to this great musician he grews on me, no doubt! What a rythm and blues!!!
    Unfortunately for those of us that are no native speakers, the lyrics are not so clearly and detailedly understood owing to the volume of the band's sound!
    Nevertheless, great as usual!
    Thanks for posting!!
    Cheers from Mexico!

  • @ericjumpelfeaturingjohnnyj4135

    Very nice performance! Nice guitar solo too! Video is is so bad that my eyes can't tell me what my ears are telling me about who's playing it. On top of that, I think he's wearing shades or something, but it sure sounds to me like Robben Ford. 2:16 in the timeline. It almost absolutely has to be him! Anyone confirm this to be true?

    • @mikey_suzefour
      @mikey_suzefour Před 5 lety +1

      It's actually after 2:20 in the video that a backup guitarist plays his solo (Is it Robben Ford? I'm not that familiar with his guitar play--Sorry Eric!)
