  • This is a dive sites guide of Gran Canaria. If you plan to go there and do some scuba diving, this video may help you to decide where to dive and if that is worth it.
Here can you find some description of the dive sites:
PASITO BLANCO - in my opinion the absolute best dive site in Gran Canaria. Beautiful reef on white sand with huge school of pelagic fish - usually the Bastard Grunt. You will probably encounter lot of rays, moray eels. Do not miss the angel shark, like the guy in the video and you also may spot a huge butterfly ray.
ARGUINEGUIN REEF is in my opinion the second-best dive site there. I have never seen so many, so big and so fat trumpetfish before. You often will see huge school of Grunts, lot of rays, moray eels, barracudas, sometimes turtles, octopus, cuttlefish. The visibility is often affected with floating seaweed, but it creates an incredibly special atmosphere.
METEOR III - there are many stories about this wreck. One of them - certainly the true one - is, that the Russian hydrofoil left the harbour day after a big party on the boat, where a small damage was caused. But the Russian captain was sure it is not that big deal. Oops! The new wreck became one of the best dive site in Gran Canaria and you even could penetrate it. There were massive school of fish and marine life. It became a favourite divers place, and this was the problem, because it hindered the big supply boats traffic to the local cement factory. It was such a huge problem that the police detonated the boat. It fell apart and the marine life disappeared. But it is still quite good dive site. You will encounter beautiful nudibranch, rays, cuttlefish and close to the wreck, you may spot seahorse in the seaweed.
COMO TU - a wreck of small fisher boat on sand bottom. 30 metre may be a little bit too dep for someone a that is why we had very often quite short dive there. It is quite fine, but it should be a sunny day, otherwise there is quite dark.
PUERTO MOGAN - They put a lot of stuff on the bottom to make it a little bit interesting. But the funniest thing is the yellow submarine, that you will probably encounter there.
MOGAN WRECKS - two wrecks and sometime the yellow submarine again. Honestly, I really do not like it too much. It is quite grey or dark there and not that many marine lives like on the other places.
ARTIFICIAL REEF - it is quite big place for one dive. The university of Las Palmas created this place in 1991. They put a lot of structures on the bottom to study the development of the aquatic life. I like it, it is bright and interesting. There are school of fish again and huge but huge rays. Shore dives - lot of places for diving there and it is ok, not amazing, but ok. BUT - one amazing shore dive is
EL CABRON - but I do not have any shots from there. It is in northeast of the island and in the middle of nowhere. So, you must go there by car and be careful, the water access is not very easy, but it is definitely worth it. Scuba diving in Gran Canaria may be really fascinating, but just if you decide for the right diving spot. Look at this video and you will know how it looks like and what all you can see there. If you have any questions, write us in the comment bellow the video.
