notice how much better nick sounds when he sings the high notes in the chorus. he really, im sorry to say, sounded terrible on the verse. i know he's a great singer, obviously he is, but there's somethin about that setting that makes certain kinds of singing difficult. ive experienced it myself singing live in different places, not that ive ever played any shows for huge crowds like this lol. i think it comes down to not being able to hear yourself well. i hope he watches these videos and sees what he needs to improve. if he makes a conscious effort to sing this better live, he can do it. the overall sound of this video is also bad, but that's just due to poor mixing, probably sounded better if u were actually there
You should watch the KEXP perfomances (especially the later ones). They are all "live" in a studio and sound absolutely amazing, better than on the albums.
