I'm not sure when or where they will be sold, but they are coming out with the adult size soon and you can bet your fins I will be buying one and doing a full review!
Courtney Mermaid have you ever swam in the river with your mermaid tail because the main place that I go swimming ever is at the river I have a mermaid tail but I don't use it very often due to the fact that it's cheap it's off brand and it ripped within the first week even though all I would do with it is put it on and sit on my bed it also did not come with a monofin.
Bass On The Faith I do that, too. Since taking care of hair and skin is also an issue, it’s a good way to save some time, and I’m never going to let chlorine sit in my hair for too long.
The pool i used to go to before they decided mermaids cannot exist had a dryer that you put your swimsuit in and it would spin all the water out crazy fast. So i would wash it my tail, squeeze the water out carefully, and put it in and like 10 seconds later boom dry tail. All pools need those things lol i miss it! You got funny looks from people too which was hilarious!
Right on! I don't recommend using washing machines or dryers for most tails but if it worked for you then that's good. I'm sorry to hear they no longer let mermaids swim there!
Courtney Mermaid yeah not doing full washer or dryers lol! Its sort of a weird tube that just spins really quick but theyre super loud. Also thankfully there was another pool closer to home that actually encourages use of monofins and flippers so they were all for it!
I found that taking the monofin out while the tail is wet can be tricky, especially my Mahina with the style I did for the skin. Do not rush taking it out. Go very slowly, carefully work the fabric around, & bend the fin if you can to get it out. I was terrified my stitches were gonna rip, but by the gods they held strong.
An idea I had for drying my newly made tail is an ironing board. I set it up in the bath with a clean dry towel and it’s the perfect length for the full body and most of the fluke.
This is great! you can't be my mermaid mom, I am old enough to be your gramma... but for those of us who can't ever even imagine affording one of those cool silicone tails, THIS IS AWESOME!!! Yeah, I figured out the "put the monofin IN the tail first then put the tail on", but good to reiterate that. Also I am VERY aware of smacking my tail against concrete pool walls... ergh, already have some slight scuffing on the FinFun tail tips (reinforced). I can just afford my fabulous inexpensive FinFUn tails, so THERE WILL BE NO HOPPING! Also I can't hop, or run, or jump... swimming good, mermaiding better, gravity is stupid for knees wrecked in multiple colorful ways. We learned to rinse our scuba gear... mermaid gear is no exception. Don't forget to rinse your masks and goggles too. Good tips about drying racks! (I have pool noodles, they're good for everything). I have noted the Fin Fun tails with the reinforcements hold water... so that's NOT GOOD if you are hanging on a hanger! Remember to dump that a few times. A pool noodle hanger horizontal through the tail would not put enough pressure on it to stretch it (you're hanging it sideways on a round fat surface).
I am a fabric tail user, and I own the Tiger Lily Fin Fun tail. I’ve had it for a little bit over a year and I love it! I also found these tips really, really, helpful because I’m going to purchase a new Fin Fun tail soon. I’m going to get a tail from the Atlantis collection, since it has the extra fins and such ( which I really like. ) I will try to take good care of it! Thanks!
Thank you I just got a fabric tail and I’m waiting for my mono fin to come 😊 I love how my tail looks 👀 but to be “real” mermaid they say you have to have a silicone tail but those are to expensive😭
I know tails and fursuits are very different materials but could you speed up drying by putting it on a dry towel and gently rolling it up in the towel applying light pressure then unrolling it on a drying rack without the towel to dry the rest of the way.
Thanks! Im from Costa Rica and l have never seen a mermaid from here and I don't know if there are any 😅 (there must be, right?). Well, I'm 30 years old, I've been taking swimming classes for 1 year and I just remembered how much I loved the water and I've been always fascinated by fantasy and mostly mermaids. I came across your channel so I've watched so many of your videos, you are a great guide and your videos are super helpful. Today I decided that I WILL be a mermaid and after some research and taking your advise, I went to Fin Fun and ordered my first monofin and first mermaid tail!!! 💞 Just wanted to thank you for all the information you provide and being an influence for me to make this jump! 🔱 I am still pending and looking forward to watch more of your content ☺️ I'm sending you a big hug from here, Costa Rica 🤗🧜
I’m glad I found this channel. As a new merman (granted my representation is a ink water elemental to begin with😅) these videos have been very insightful.
hey courtney, i came back to this video since i just got my first tail a few days ago and took it for my first swim. you're wonderful as always and so helpful! sadly, my local pools have rough bottoms and are mostly shallow so what can i do to avoid scuffing and scratching my fabric tail? especially if i need to pause a second to breathe or get water?
For christmas yeRs ago, i got this kind of holographic mermaid tail (frabric kind but not really like those i guess?) its open at the bottom of the feet and i dont like it. I dont have a mono fin either and i want a closed fin like you have. Is there something i can do about the bottom fin being open or can i make a monofin somehow ?? I hate how it keeps opening when im in water :/ like my feet just get exposed and it doesnt feel like a real thing or when i sit, the water pulls it away and then still shows my feet 🙄
I would need to see a picture of it to give you my thoughts. My initial idea is that you would need to find a monofin to fit the tail skin (I don't recommend people making their own for safety reasons) and then sew it in. All of my tails are actually open at the bottom as well because that is how I get my monofin in and out. I'm sure there is a solution for your current tail too! ♥
to answer why wet fabric can be stretch is the molecules are knitted so just like tissue that got wet its just gonna expanded and when dry its hold its shape, that why when you wan to dye a fabric its always done wet and the warm water cuz the temperature also play the more hot the water the more it easy to stretch and to dye and even get molded
I have the Aquarius Monofin you mentioned in the video, but the edges were rounded off so they wouldn’t poke through the tails. I thought that was pretty smart.
What type of fabric do you use for your tails? Also, I was reading on MerNetwork and they did recommend using a drying rig with the fluke on top so that the waist is at the bottom and the tail is propped open to dry. Is that good for only, like, neoprene/neoprin and silicone?
Did you glue the gems on Wanda yourself? I'm planning to get my first fabric tail soon and I can only afford a plain one, and I love the sparkles on Wanda!
I know that this is probably not good... But after a swim I leave my tail out in a shared area outside so that the will dry quicker, but I only leave it out for about an hour. Does that damage it?
RaChEl tOrReS I just pat mine dry with a towel, use two clothing hangers putting the top of the tail through the first hanger and put the fluke around the pointed ends of the second hanger
Courtney Mermaid oh okay! I’ve seen people say they’re bad and cheap but I really like mine and I think they’re well made so I wanted a professionals opinion.
Thank you for watching! Because I make my own tails I don't typically do reviews on other companies tails. Maybe in the future when I can afford to, I will!
I have a question for you @courtneymermaid I got a fabric tail from finfolk production and its a little loose. Can a fabric tail be resized with a seamstress at all ?
would scrunching a tail have the same effect as squeezing? and since i have an able ground pool, and the sides and bottom are soft, would my tail take less damage when standing in my pool ?
Maybe u can answer a question for Me. I just got my first fabric tail (custome made on etsy) and when I swam in it the tail part (where the mahina monofin is) and there seems to be bouancy In it that is bringing me up to the surface and not letting me swim down beneath. The monofin is zippered in.. Air bubbles? Help?
Can you leave your mertailor monofin in the fabric tail while it's drying? It was really hard for me to get the monofin in the tail so I don't want to stretch it out trying to get the monofin out while it's drying.
If you are still looking for a stiffer blade option my vote would be for the Linden monofin. It’s an exceptionally comfortable, durable monofin that doesn’t inflict the same damage to tails thanks to its rubber/rounded tips.
I love fabric tails because they are so light weight, and you can still get BEAUTIFUL designs (for example mertailor) but apparently you aren't an "official Mermaid" if you don't own a silicone 🙄
The tips you give us kinda make u look like a mom, *gasp* will you be my mermaid mom?!
Epic comment lol! Yep, that's me! The mermaid mom! HAHA!
If I had a kid she would be like Courtney!
*Mermom!
Mermum!!!!
I love how ur so down to earth and realistic
Aww thanks!
Ur welcome
If you need to walk on the poolside, I’d recommend rolling. Roll just like a log. It’s very effective.
I use the mermaid linden monofin, I love it because it is hard plastic but surrounded by silicone, and the tips are silicone, I highly recommend it
I love that fin! I cannot wait for the adult size to come out!
Courtney Mermaid they're coming out with an adult size??? Are they also going to sell this one at Wal-Mart too?
I'm not sure when or where they will be sold, but they are coming out with the adult size soon and you can bet your fins I will be buying one and doing a full review!
Courtney Mermaid
I'll be looking out for the review so I knkw if I should get one! 😊
If they are as good as the kids I will definitely be getting one
Courtney Mermaid have you ever swam in the river with your mermaid tail because the main place that I go swimming ever is at the river I have a mermaid tail but I don't use it very often due to the fact that it's cheap it's off brand and it ripped within the first week even though all I would do with it is put it on and sit on my bed it also did not come with a monofin.
I literally shower with my tails, and then rinse them again at home!
Nice! That's the way to do it!
Bass On The Faith I do that, too. Since taking care of hair and skin is also an issue, it’s a good way to save some time, and I’m never going to let chlorine sit in my hair for too long.
Bass On The Faith Courtney Mermaid swimming in the river makes your hair soft
That's cool
The pool i used to go to before they decided mermaids cannot exist had a dryer that you put your swimsuit in and it would spin all the water out crazy fast. Oh good! Glad to hear that!
We have that in my university pool
Mango Rainbow my pool at YMCA has that! It’s amazing! But must be used with caution.
Agreed! So important to be careful when inserting and removing monofins. Good call and I'm glad your stitches held up!
An idea I had for drying my newly made tail is an ironing board. I set it up in the bath with a clean dry towel and it’s the perfect length for the full body and most of the fluke.
Thanks this was really helpful
I'm happy to hear that you found it helpful!
THis was so helpful! I will definatly invest in getting the pilling tool.
I'm happy to hear you found it helpful! The pilling tool is definitely super handy!
Totally random but I love those earrings... >.>
Thank you! They are by the Slug and Kraken on Etsy! ♥
I use Dawn dish soap to handwash my tail and it works amazingly
I’m NEVER bored because I watch your videos
This is great!

So true. Be gentle with your tail and I suggest the fin fun amp pro mono fin.
I know tails and fursuits are very different materials but could you speed up drying by putting it on a dry towel and gently rolling it up in the towel applying light pressure then unrolling it on a drying rack without the towel to dry the rest of the way.
I have a tip for the sharp mono fins if u get fleece or sheep skin and duck tape it on your sharp Finn

These tails are works of art and it's always a great reminder to take care of your investment
Thank you so much for the tips
Really helpfull...Even that I prefer to swim with only the monofin...

Okay, but I NEED mine to stretch, I've got long legs, but want a high waist, because I'm thick
I have the Aquarius Monofin you mentioned in the video, but the edges were rounded off so they wouldn’t poke through the tails. I thought that was pretty smart.
you're like a cool mermaid aunt i wish i always had
So useful thank you!
Hello from Van :D I'm so glad you made this video. I'm getting my tail in a few weeks!!!
i need a mermaid scale highlighter tutorial its so cute!!!
"but what do I know, I've only been doing this for 10+ years" OOF SIS THE SARCASM IS REAL😂
What type of fabric do you use for your tails?
Also, I was reading on MerNetwork and they did recommend using a drying rig with the fluke on top so that the waist is at the bottom and the tail is propped open to dry. Is that good for only, like, neoprene/neoprin and silicone?
i can litteraly see you having a mini panick attack every time your saying not to do something ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks this really helps me I've been doing everything wrong🐬
Did you glue the gems on Wanda yourself? I'm planning to get my first fabric tail soon and I can only afford a plain one, and I love the sparkles on Wanda!
Thank you for the tips! love ya vids!!💕
Dude I love your earrings!!! And your makeup!!!
Where can I get earrings like that?!! XD
Please do all of these
thanks this was really helpful I am getting a xonyicos mermaid tail!! I will do those
things.
Excellent! I'm glad you found it helpful!
Question: how do people actually do the designing process? Btw I love your tails and their colors!
My mermaid tails I got for Christmas come up to my mid ribcage, and I'm 5'4"
that awkward moment when you realize you have done all of the things she tells you not to do
Why is this so true 😭
Fin-tastic tips!!! ^U^
Thank you!
What causes seams to Frey?
Have you done a tutorial on your scale makeup? Please please do
I do have two of them up on my channel! czcams.com/video/592_uMU90bY/video.html
I know that this is probably not good... But after a swim I leave my tail out in a shared area outside so that the will dry quicker, but I only leave it out for about an hour. Does that damage it?
Is it ok to stand in a silicone tail?
In the pool can you stand on your tail?
At certain points if you need to
You can if you need to, but I don't recommend it as it damages your tail over time.
So here's a good question. My tails like to rip and tear where the top of the monofin meets the fabric. I'd there a way to avoid this???
If it’s not all the way dry can you still swim with it
can i hang it to dry on its side? switching sides each time? or will it widen it?? i dont have anywhere in my house to put it flat really
RaChEl tOrReS I just pat mine dry with a towel, use two clothing hangers putting the top of the tail through the first hanger and put the fluke around the pointed ends of the second hanger
And then hang in on the shower rod in my bathroom
Happily Twisted thats smart, thank you!!
RaChEl tOrReS happy to help!
I'm going to buy a mermaid tail should I get a suntail or a fin fun mermaid tail?
I like the finfun tails but thats just my opinion
I perfer the finfun but thats my opinion
What do you think about a swimtails mermaid tail???
I’ve never seen one up close so I couldn’t say.
Courtney Mermaid oh okay! I’ve seen people say they’re bad and cheap but I really like mine and I think they’re well made so I wanted a professionals opinion.
could you maybe do a review of a xonyicos mermaid tail please?
Thank you for watching! Because I make my own tails I don't typically do reviews on other companies tails. Maybe in the future when I can afford to, I will!
I have a question for you @courtneymermaid I got a fabric tail from finfolk production and its a little loose. Can a fabric tail be resized with a seamstress at all ?
I don't see why not since it is fabric. I would email FinFolk beforehand to make sure that's the best option.
Courtney Mermaid thanks already did just waiting for a response from them thanks !! I appreciate it 🧜🏼
Can you swim with a fabric tail in the sea??
What would you say is the best way to store a tail? I'm new to Mermaiding and I want to start with good habits! :)
I lay my tail on the ironing board to dry.
would scrunching a tail have the same effect as squeezing? and since i have an able ground pool, and the sides and bottom are soft, would my tail take less damage when standing in my pool ?
Yes! That is correct!
12
Did you make Wanda? I'm new haha. It's a gorgeous tail
Welcome to the pod! Yes! I make all of my tails myself and thank you!
Do you need to rinse your tail out if you're swimming in water that doesn't have salt or chlorine in it
Maybe u can answer a question for Me. I just got my first fabric tail (custome made on etsy) and when I swam in it the tail part (where the mahina monofin is) and there seems to be bouancy In it that is bringing me up to the surface and not letting me swim down beneath. The monofin is zippered in.. Air bubbles? Help?
I have a question, what if you put your fabric tail in the dryer?
I don't do that ever, I always lay mine out to dry on a drying rack after I wash them thoroughly.
@@CourtneyMermaid Thank you for letting me know. Love you and your vids.
Mine is so stretched out and my monifin is bent
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that!
Can you leave your mertailor monofin in the fabric tail while it's drying? It was really hard for me to get the monofin in the tail so I don't want to stretch it out trying to get the monofin out while it's drying.
Mine is permanently sewn in and I’ve never had an issue laying it out on my drying rack to dry.
I have the finis aquarius and it's terrible. What monofin will replace it in such a small area of this tail type
If you are still looking for a stiffer blade option my vote would be for the Linden monofin. It’s an exceptionally comfortable, durable monofin that doesn’t inflict the same damage to tails thanks to its rubber/rounded tips.
Can u stand in the water?
If you are in shallow enough water yes, but I don't recommend standing too much in your mermaid tail (you will damage it).
Courtney Mermaid OMG ILY SO MUCH TY
Omg 7:50 killed me
Oh no, my mom makes me hang my tail on a hanger after setting it out to dry (at night). 😥
Has anyone found a box able to hold/store a FinFun tail laying flat??
I love fabric tails because they are so light weight, and you can still get BEAUTIFUL designs (for example mertailor) but apparently you aren't an "official Mermaid" if you don't own a silicone 🙄
That's simply not true.
Mermaid Courtney I want to know if I can become a mermaid
I really bad about not washing my tails after I go swimming But I do it the next day because I usually go swimming right before bedtime
Honestly just get yourself in the routine, pool water can affect your tail in bad ways like colour fade and other bad things.
Happily Twisted I do have a routine washing it the next day
Kim Scott I understand that however it's best to wash it sooner rather then later :)
Mermaid Courtney I want to know how can I be a mermaid
I'm a rebel. I hang my tails!
And if you do have to stand in your mermaid tale you dont stand with the side of your body agensed the edge of the pool because you will wreck the fin
🇸🇦🇸🇦👋
😞😢😭 I want a mermaid tail but I can't bye it and I have no pool and I can't go anywhere
2:25 where can I get a monofin like that? I would love to get one for a size U.S. shoe soze 8.5 - 9
You can buy them from finisswim.com and if you do, be sure to use my special discount code "mermaidcourtney" to get 20% off your purchase!
Courtney Mermaid sweet! It's the one shown right? Do you remember what it's called? I don't want a monofin that may put holes in a future tail.
Why is my tail up to my boobs - Mermaid Courtney
LOL!!! I'm literally dying of laughter! IT'S A THING THOUGH SERIOUSLY! LOL!!! People pull way too hard on their tail haha! ♥
Courtney Mermaid haha I jus got a tail so this helped! Thank you and you are my favorite mermaid! And youtuber!
Who the hell would pin their tail to a wall to store it???
You would be surprised how many people do that...
Thanks so much this was very helpful!
