This is so labor intensive 😳 Procreate should think about updating with a feature that allows you to do this easier...
@@inkpearls3364 still lot of bugs, limits and missing features, although it has a great potential...
tabishrafiq Well Photoshop won’t let me add downloaded fonts from my iPad, and fonts added to my CC thru my computer don’t populate on Photoshop for iPad, so wtf do I do?
I want to cry, I’ve been working on my piece for 14 hours straight AND NOW I’VE REALIZED THIS FEATURE ISNT BUILT INNNN?!?😭😭😭😭😭
Although this is a superb tutorial, it’s unfortunate that Procreate isn’t more optimised for this kind of work. I hope over time they introduce more quality of life features similar to Align, pathfinder, envelope distort, shape builder etc. That would really put this app into a league of its own
the easier thing to do is send it to photoshop, create a circle and then do the type on a path command. super easy and quick. procreate needs to add this feature, would love to not have to use any adobe programs at all.
There must be an easier way. Are you joking???
She’s just trying to help no need to be harsh with her. Keep doing your thing queen
You can turn on a "perspective" radial drawing guide and drop it in the middle of your circle which will help aligning those letters a lot.
@@MrMentalmotionSo, to put it simply, go to drawing guide, choose Perspective, and add a point in the middle of a circle, then use the rays as a reference.
Okay so if you wanna do this with cursive text and have it attached the warp tool can be used with the circle template it’s a little janky but it works. Just finished my new logo. Would have never thought to use a guide till I saw this video 💕
I would gladly pay for a text upgrade. Just with all the nice text options like pathfinder and such.
How did I not think of this?! Thank you for the helpful video!
Thank you for this! It's really not that complicated of a process with practice and familiarity. I, too, hope that someday Procreate advances their text editing feature. But I think for now this works just as well! Thanks again!!
Oh, worth mentioning that if you just do the letters on by one, it's much more effective than rasterizing and clipping etc. Just make sure you have enough layers available before flattening and stuff haha!
This took me a little while, but was worth the effort. Thank you so much for the great tutorial!
this was SO SO SO SO SO helpful!! Thank you! Loved the pace you spoke at and everything!!!
absolutely insane that this program doesn't have a feature for curving text. what a long process this is to get curved text. might as well move your project to another editing software to add text.
procreate HAS TO add this feature in an update soon.
I find this distorts the text too much, but it's certainly worth a shot!
Labor intensive but how I (procreate newbie) figured this would need to be done. Adobe must have the rights to do simple shit like this the easy way, text to path..
Thanks for the video
Love this! Very helpful for me! Thanks. 🥰
Each time I need a tutorial, you appear. Your teaching style is exactly right for my learning style. You realistically consider how people actually think and see.
Oh wow, thank you Wally. That's such a nice comment and you've made my day 😀 So glad it's helpful
Thank you very much!!!
This is waaaay too complicated for its own good. Also, by rasterizing, moving and having the letters turn a bit, we can spot a bit of blurriness, which definitely makes this process feel a tad underwhelming considering the amount of work. Hoping an upcoming update can clear this because if we can't have crisp letters, even rasterized, then what's the point?
Yes Simon, not being able to type on a path as a feature makes it more laborious task. Some people really only want to use Procreate exclusively, so this is a workaround for them. If you have other software though, such as Affinity or Adobe, they are the way to go for this particular task. Re the blurring of the letters - there may be a slight loss in crispness when rotating, but it shouldn’t be too bad. Make sure your interpolation setting is ‘Bicubic’. You can change this by selecting your text with the arrow tool and it’s the 2nd icon from the right in the menu bar. (It might say ‘Nearest’ or ‘Bilinear’ depending on what it’s currently set to). Also try to get the rotation right in one go rather than redoing too many times. This will also help.

@@calliopelove I agree, they focused on 3D when we really need better text options, vector drawing/paths, and save selections once a path has been made. It would make life wayyyy more easier, even if I had to pay a small fee for it I would.
Great tutorial! Tedious work, but it works. Thank you🙏
Really helpful, thank you. But, yes, I do hope Procreate can do something with this.
I would have never thought of this, thanks
Thank you very much u rock!
good effort, thank for sharing
Excellent tutorial. Exactly what I was looking for. I think I would export it to Photoshop for this part to finish my work. But it was something I needed ATM. Thanks so much.
Muchas gracias por el video 🙌
Thank you so much for the video. I learned a lot and it’s worth watching it ❤️
I use this alternative app just for curved texts. It’s called phonto and it’s free. I wanted to see if procreate had this feature. But now i think I’m gonna stick with phonto. Great tutorial btw. Thanks alottt!
Thank you Queen
great. i will try this out. Thank you.
Thank you!
Excellent 🔥💯🔥
thanks used this to help me forge a parking pass for my school worked perfectly 👍
Having a hard time trying to find a tutorial on arched text. Can you do one of those?
Love the video 💕
I think I’ll just save my file and place it in a vector program like Affinity Designer and do it there - like I always used to between Photoshop and Illustrator.
Really helpful thank you
Thank you
Thank you! This is so simple. I tried using warp as someone suggested and that is an absolute nightmare. Well, unless you prefer your letters all different sizes. 😂
So glad it helped! Yes definitely, warp sounds like a nice shortcut, but doesn't produce very good results in this instance unfortunately.
How come even tho I rasterize the size still ends up changing around as I attempt to move the letter?
Thank you ! Very helpful .
Do I need the drawing tool to do this? Also, which app do I download in order to do this.? Thank you. This is all new to me even though I have had my iPad for going on three years.
Hi Evelyn. The app used for this tutorial is Procreate. If you wanted to achieve this 'text on a curved path' type effect, there are other apps that will do it a bit easier, such as Affinity Designer. It depends what you want to do
Hi! Thank you very much for your video, it helped me a lot. Where did you get that folder of shape brushes? Or did you create it yourself? I would like to have one like that, I do not like that procreate does not have a rule, I feel that it is much needed. Sorry if it's misspelled, I use a translator
Hey Romina, thanks for watching. The shape brushes are custom brushes of mine. They are available here - ipadcalligraphy.com/product/ornament-brushes/
Shortcut. Don’t watch. Just rasterize the text and drag each letter around a circle shape
Thanks for your feedback Honey Seals. It sounds like you've got a really good handle of using Procreate. Not everyone does and I try to help those that need instruction for each step. There's a load of other CZcams Channels with more advanced / fast paced tutorials - they might suit you better 👍
Thanks for the helpful video!!
Just download a clock and lay it over. Then put the letters where the marks are.
Is there really not an easier way of doing this? I thought the warp tool would work, but it’s too difficult to keep the text uniform
I think the consensus is that Procreate is not the ideal choice for text on a curve. Affinity Designer has it as a feature.
I did this too… thought there is way auto follow the curve
Why when I try to recreate this my letters get all pixilated and rough around the edges? Is there something I’m going wrong in setting or something?
Hey Emily, There can be a slight loss in crispness when rotating, but it shouldn't be too bad. Make sure your interpolation setting is 'Bicubic'. You can change it by selecting your text with the arrow tool and it's the 2nd icon from the right in the menu bar. (It might say 'Nearest' or 'Bilinear' depending on what it's currently set to). Also try to get the rotation right in one go rather than redoing too many times.

How do I get the shapes?
I’ve been wanted to edit something like this. But when I move my text it became blurry. Does it happen while you’re editing this?
Hi Daye. There's may be a slight loss in crispness when rotating, but it shouldn't be too bad. Make sure your interpolation setting is 'Bicubic'. iPad Calligraphy thank you so much! This is so helpful. Hopefully soon I will be able to understand all its features.
Has anyone experienced random font names being blank in their fonts list?
wish we could curve text like illustrator in procreate :(
This video is 2 years old and Procreate still doesn’t have this in the app.
As the letters are rotated they get more pixelated and lose their crisp edges. How can this be avoided, because I don’t want to lose the quality?
*I set my document to 300DPI.
Yes, unfortunately this will happen slightly, but there a few things you can check. 1. Try to minimise to one rotation for each lettering ie. don’t rotate and release then rotate again. 2. Make sure you don’t have ‘snapping’ turned on in the bottom menu 3. Make sure you have ‘Interpolation’ set as Bicubic (in the bottom menu)
Can’t wait to give this a try
Awesome Deborah. I'd love to see how you get on. I'm @nicolemauloni on insta if you decide to share 😀
This should be built in
Wooow super cool, thank you so much!
It's hardway manually cut one by one
Thank you. Too many steps. Procreate needs to arrive to 2023
Canva photo app can do similar thing.
The option to curve text is on Word ffs! How is it not on Procreate?!
Hi I’m new here! How do we get the shapes and ornament set?
Hi Vanessa, and welcome! The shapes and ornaments set is available here - ipadcalligraphy.com/product/ornament-brushes/
How do I find your Shapes brushes
Hi Cee, the shape & ornament brushes are available here - ipadcalligraphy.com/product/ornament-brushes/
Procreate get on a fix. This is ridiculous. But thanks for showing us how.
Why is this not a feature :/
I can't seem to move the letters without them resizing... Is there a way so keep them uniform while moving them around?
Lisa Reader when you rotating the text, press “uniform” button so the text doesn’t resizing. hope this helps
Use afinity designer for text work especially if you are using default fonts. It has a built in feature for text on a path...
You are moving to fast!, And Procreate is not letting me move the letters it duplicated my letters after I used the squiggly line to move it out of they way. It won’t let me adjust the letters. So frustrating I am brand new to procreate . Why can’ t the just add a easy feature to do this. OMG!
What about warp text?? I think that could work too right??
Yes, a lot of people are commenting that option. I've tried this though and it distorts the text too much
please god, procreate people, make text on a path a standard feature. My love hate relationship with procreate is real.
or you can use photoshop to do this part too :) If someone happens to have
Was this helpful? Yes. Was it an absolute pain in the ****? Also yes. 🌚
👌🏾🙏🏾
This is way too much work just to curve letters onto an arch. Procreate really needs to do something about this... And a few other things
Wow I just downloaded this $10 app just to watch this video and not know what the heck she’s talking about. Urghhhh was this video fast for u guys?
Thanks for watching and your feedback. The video is aimed at people who already have and use the app, and specifically want to align text to a path. Not really intended for anyone to purchase the app without knowing about it first! Apologies if the instructions were too fast, though it would probably feel that way if you're opening the app for the the first time. I have a lot of more 'beginner' style content on my website - ipadcalligraphy.com/blog
iPad Calligraphy you’re so sweet! I’m definitely going to take a look and I’m going to hit the bell so I can get updates on your future videos. 👍
Just mess around with the app and definitely watch a different “beginners” video! es yon that go over the basics for ya. She was just a tad quick because it’s such a specific question, her audience is assumed to know their way around the app already :)
This is probably tricky if you’re still new. There’s a bit of a learning curve!
I’ve been using procreate for over a year now and I didn’t know how to do this, I found the tutorial very easy to follow and only had to watch once to get the hang of it.
Definitely play around with the app firstly so you get to know all the different tools
ok so this is not for beginners at all!!
Thank you, advice, show each step calmly and speak slower, not everyone is as familiar as you are with procreate
Illustrator much easy way
She is using the move tool with a circle as a reference of where to move the letters.
There is no automatic cirkle text tool.
Also you talked to much instead of getting to the point.
Nightmare not one programe does this easily. I tried so many. All crap. Affinity is a nightmare.
Paid app and you have to do all this work to be able to get a design like that. No good . Nothing really special about this app compare to sketchbook wich is free . And also resolution is way better for doing tatto stencils.
That’s absolutely primitive, anyone who aims to work as a graphic designer must use a legit software like adobe illustrator
There has to be an easier way, this is too much and takes way too long, plus this person is the worst teacher, everything she did could of been said in much less time, lags for absolutely no reason
Thanks for your feedback. Pretty harsh. You are welcome to move on and watch something else.
