    An updated sample demo of the locomotion system I have been working on for Stormrite using Unreal Engine's motion-matching technology.
    Version 4 sees full replication and a lot of optimisation improvements. I will post videos about the optimisation and replication soon, but for reference, my system runs smoothly over 200fps with 20 fully-animated NPCs in the scene. For reference, ALS V4 runs around 120fps in the same conditions.
    I've also introduced sprinting, along with some improvements to aim & general smoothness tweaks.

    UPDATE!
    As promised, the locomotion system seen in this video can be found here on the Unreal Marketplace: www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/locomotion-matching

    I've been wanting to explore the MM system since I heard it released, just can't find any animation assets that look smooth like this does. Bravo.

      Thanks! I used Motorica animations for this, they're a great base for motion matching systems.
      I've released this locomotion system on the marketplace if you want to take a look! www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/locomotion-matching

    If you add mantling like in the game animation sample, this would be an instance purchase for me!

    absolutely amazing, are you currently just reusing animations for the motion matching system or are you creating them yourself? Thanks!

    Here's a question- how can an aiming pivot offset me be implemented? for example, when adding a rifle to the player's hands, I've had great difficulty getting it to rotate up or down based on the pitch of the camera. The weapon and head should point where the player is aiming, I have not found a solution yet... tough to research!

      I use a control rig for this. I've just released this locomotion system to the marketplace, and it features the aim offset for rifles & pistols, so feel free to go check it out!

    How well does it handle latency and packet loss compared to "traditional" character movement?

      you dont need its easily obtainable by just dragging a few animations to the container, i wouldnt suggest to use it since its not stable and not gives moch control on animations

      there is game ready asset with 500 animation by epic release, free

      @@faynkid
      - it's not replicated
      - it doesn't work for AI characters
      - it doesn't use thread safe updates, so optimisation could be improved
      - it doesn't allow for running arcs
      The epic sample project is a great resource, but my project and the sample project offer very different things, and different animation styles, but ultimately it's up to the end user to decide whether it's worth the value :)

      @faynkid Před 2 měsíci

      if anyone already knows those topics they can simply implement replication and lther stuffs too, i just said my opinion cause those people not even gonna build the project

    There is something wrong with the jump. I think it's lifting too late or it's lacking anticipation

    • @shoukaiser
      @shoukaiser Před 3 měsíci

      Were it a slower paced thing, video or slow paced game I would agree, but in slowing down and adding the expected anticipation and windup, it risks really killing gameplay responsiveness which generally will matter more to users.
