I don't believe I have heard this hymn before but I sure do enjoy it
Thanks Rhonda - it's quite a well known one if I'm not mistaken.
May we indeed stand on His promises and not worry, doubt or fear. He will never leave us nor forsake us. May we never rely on our works to save us but only on what He did to get us to heaven. Thank you for using your gifts to point us to the Saviour.
Thank you! :-)
1. Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
through eternal ages let his praises ring;
glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
standing on the promises of God.
Refrain:
Standing, standing,
standing on the promises of Christ my Savior;
standing, standing,
I'm standing on the promises of God.
2. Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
by the living Word of God I shall prevail,
standing on the promises of God.
(Refrain)
3. Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
bound to him eternally by love's strong cord,
overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword,
standing on the promises of God.
(Refrain)
4. Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
listening every moment to the Spirit's call,
resting in my Savior as my all in all,
standing on the promises of God.
(Refrain)
My grandma worships the the lord

Today I’ve been thinking of my very dear deceased mother feeling very sad and empty. Then I played this beautifully done hymn and I started crying but almost instantly feeling renewed. Thank you God for the promises you have made!

A fantastic hymn Rob 877 in the sacred songs and solos thanks for sharing your tlme and talent with us . I always think that sankey hymns bring out the talent of a good organ and organist Rob God Bless.

This is the Only Reason I joined the Catholic Church Because they use the organ Merry Christmas Rob and your family On this blessed Day
Many thanks Charlie!
Marvellous arrangement!! Just how I like it with the repeat on the chorus!!
+johnboytd many thanks!
Most other performances are saccharine sound, this performance was stunning in the wAy he progressively built the registration from Denver and fuller from stanza to stanza. Magnificent
Thanks!
Thank you. This is one of those hymns you just have to play "up," or with vivace, as they say. I love how you gave it a march feel. At times, the stanzas have a little similarity to The Battle Hymn of the Republic before the refrain.
Every time I hear this hymn, it just makes me want to sing boldly, and I smile doing it. It has that effect.
That's very right John many thanks! :-)
Excellent rendition!! One of the many great classic hymns. Great registration choices!
Thank you! :-)

Great, Rob. There's nothing to beat the Hymns which Sankey collected and set to Music. Charlie, Aberdeen.
Thanks very much Charlie! :o)

Beautiful. We sang this at church tonight and I couldn't wait to go on CZcams and see if you had done it, and you had! Thank you, brother.
Many thanks!
Now that's what I ca an organ. Could you play the whole hymnal. There are some I believe are missing, and I'd love to hear them in an orgam version.
Thanks - but not for now.
Ta Keith! :o)
Is this hymn of sankey or Russell Kelso carter (lyrics), mark e carver ( song)?
Still I love your bouncy style.
Cheers!
That's my style, also. Jesus is alive!
I have seen where Russell Clark Kelso was the writer and composer. Still it is Sankey's style.
stvandy1 Please read the history of Russell Clark Kelso. He was an outstanding Christian, Medical Doctor, and an outstanding American Collegiate Football Player, at the inception of the game!
Keith Kimmel Russell Kelso Carter did this song. My error. Thank You Keith Kimmel.
I think the organ has been serviced?..sounded very nice. :-)
Cheers Kent I don't think many thanks!
I'm sure Ira Sankey is smiling down on you, Rob. He wanted a "muscular" sound, which this certainly is. I think you have the making of a good Methodist revival musician. Shake things up a bit at All Saints?
Does this organ have a 32' reed?
Yes it does it's Digital By Phoenix Orgns UK.
RobCharles1981 Just needs a 64' Dulzian :)
Ooo yeah! :-)
Lovely hymn but who wrote the hymn
Ile check and find out.
R Kelso Carter (1849-1928) wrote both the words and tune.
R. Kelso Carter, a medical doctor, a theologian, a song writer, and one of the first people to play college football, wrote this most inspiring and beautiful hymn ~ both the music and lyrics.
This song richly conveys God's eternal love for us!
Will re-record this bass'y track...
+Arthur Dale You aint done a video upload of the requests I did for you either! ;o)
Difficult mate. Have to think of my near neighbours...
+Arthur Dale Do it when you can ;o)
