Three episodes in a week??!!!!!! The gods must be happy! Love your work!
Thanks!
Film Riot omg Ryan I have a few questions. no 1 I am trying to create a title panning down to a ship exiting light speed in front of a planet from the side view how do I do this. second do u have any tips for me I am a young filmmaker and I am only 14 how do I get people to notice me so yeah... please help!
BRICK MEDIA i can make that for you for a little fee.
ArshKFilms I'm only 14 and I am trying to learn how to do it because I am going to be doing this for my next film and never mind I don't want to do the screen crawl I got something else in mind
ArshKFilms PS I am doing stop motion and I am buying some equipment
Wow! I've worked with college film departments and always discuss with students the importance of building shots around actor's postitions, and setting exposure to skin tones, but I've never specifically thought about checking lenses to the shapes of actor's faces in quite this way before. Fantastic information in this one!
Loving the continual episodes for the "Sponsor Time" bit!
I love the color of the walls in the studio, especially with the red-brown of the wooden doors it gives it a really cinematic feel.
So EXCITED! Love you guys so much (Ryan, you've been such a source of knowledge to me and my filming). I look forward to even more videos from you guys!
Thank you Ryan!!!!!! Super excited for the CineSummit event now!
This info is inspiring yet stresses me out. Is that normal?
+SpinderManFilms Yes. Yes it is. Just means you understand it. Haha
And it also means you "Get it" - that these guys are good! Knowing good $#*% when you see it is a good start! :)
Film Riot please do a current video on screenwriting from books to workshops, contest, writers room to land a paying gig. even lectures. everything seen date or old or the speaker is hold back.
SpinderManFilms me too
The close up at 3:29 is perfect in every way. This guy is an inspiration. Thanks for the vid Ryan 😀
Wow. Thanks Ryan !
i have a screenshot from an image from Gill's workshop as my desktop image. he's amazazazing. great to refresh these amazing points. FR strikes again!
Thanks for the heads up!
I'm digging the dummy stuff with Justin...shit is hilarious lol
Awesome tip on lens length for face size and shape! Huge thanks for sharing this!
Awesome, big thanks!
I love cinematography tricks and big, story/mood-driven concepts like these. @cinematographydb I'd love to see some more stuff like this and your composition lessons.
Ooh this is very insightful. Thanks for the tips Film Riot!
Hell yea need more of these!
but is it free ?
I think it is? Wasn't clear enough.
Ren Deaust thought is was $10
It is on the date they said that I already forgot😂
+Ronald dela Vega Really? Damn I wish it is free.
April of some day it is free
This information is priceless!! Watched the first day of seminars.
Thanks for the heads up Ryan!
Greg - Hit me up using support@cinesummit.com (and remind me about your comment)
I love the sequence that appears before the sponsor time 😂
I have their last year's Cinesummit! Great stuff! i definitely recommend it
SIGNED UP!! THANKS FOR THE INFO
Ok, I just got a new monitor today, and Ryan looks stunning! I don't know if it's the monitor or what, but nice!
Love the running gag!
This looks like a great event. Thanks for the tip.
Can you guys do a test on the lens issue? It would have been informative if the differences were demonstrated of how a lens can make a person look photogenic/finding the "sweet spot"
Super insightful. Thanks guys :)
thanks so much
Great freaking video! Can't wait for to check out the free vids!
You'll love it. It's killer cinematographers teaching killer stuff!
amazing thanks
I signed up for cinesummit! Looks cool
Thanks Ryan☺
Cinesummit is incredible. I've been watching it since CS2 I think. Can't wait for this edition!! Aviv really gets incredible panels every single time!
If I had the time next week I definately would sign up. I've got 2 films in the works already and absolutely no time at all
Don't know what I'd do without you guys. Just when I wonder what a Cinematographer would do, a sweet video about Cinematography appears from the aether.
I'm thinking about trying Adobe Creative Cloud just saying.
Best. Outtake. Ever.
Three episodes in a row? What if Film Riot turns into a daily thing. Omg, I would be in heaven!
"Pierre Gill, who's DP'ed upside-down"
Yeah, but how's his cinematography?
MicronXD Well if he dp'ed then he's obviously going to be good at cinematography because that's his job!
MicronXD If his work can be cut with Roger Deakins's, pretty freaking good.
Whoosh for you, Daniel.
Daniel Hammett you look kind of silly right now lol. that joke flew right over your head. it was a sexual joke. lol. no one tell him.
JustinJames TV fam I know what double penetration is, I just thought you didn't know what the directed of photography did, my b 😂
Wow, awesome, again! The interlude with you yelling at the end was a hoot! BTW Thanks for the tip, even as a rank newbie, I have signed up for the Cine Summit, I even put down some cash; what's the worst that could happen? I just might learn a boat-load!!!! :0)
this really helped!
thanks for the tip film riot I just ordered the lifetime access.
As soon as I heard him talk I was like ''Yep, he totally is from Quebec''
My life would be meaningless without Film Riot
Thanks for the heads up about the free keynotes, will rsvp right now. Also, I laughed so hard when he killed that dummy, hahahaha
Superb
The blooper at the end was better than the entire episode. im choking my friend hhahaha
Hi Film Riot!
Have you ever tried compositing with a node based software? I am looking into switching to one and so I wonder what you think about it.
Thanks
For those still debating it... IT'S FREE...today and tomorrow. Get signed up and go watch!
thank you ...thank you very much ....i wouldn't even know about it .
Could you do a review on the Panasonic GH5?
awesome!!!🤓🤓🤓
Can you do some more 80s effects, please? Or how to do effects in Motion 5 (apple program)?
Omygod... I love this video.... Always wanted to ask why do we need different focal lengths
Hey Ryan !
How do you make POSTERS for your short films ?
Can you make a tutorial on the process ?
So I just signed up for that. Haha! God knows I need it.
This applies incredibly well to video games as well.
Do you guys use a lot of foley affects especially in action films? I know that punches are obviously separate, but what about like footsteps?
I'm not able to watch the event live and I'm very gutted about it. Don't really have the money to buy all of this either. Is there anyone who is going to record the event and is wanting to privately share it? That would be absolutely amazing. Honestly don't want to miss this.
Does anybody know what the first film Pierre Gill talked about in the video was?
Interesting!
the inmate dummy gag is brilliant
This was literally posted 4 seconds ago how does this happen to me every time. Love you
You guys should make a compilation of all of your funny scenes before your sponsored advertisements
Hey ry guy, I am wondering if you could cover how to do the jump scare in ghostbusters where the ghost is chilling then they go crazy like me when my mom makes me cookies
Ryan this seems like an awesome course to watch but I didn't realize it was free. Next time something like this comes out again can you please stress the FREE part a little more? Thanks. :-)~
+BM I knew I should have yelled it a least 5 more times. I have failed you.
I forgive you sir.
Last 10 secs are the best lol
I thought that post credit scene was going to be a funeral for the dummy... XD "Dearly beloved..."
Looks promising i am gonna buy this shit for 97$ my film school never teaches anything nevertheless.
ArshKFilms many people say they get more out of one of these events than a year of film school :-)
ArshKFilms If your film school doesn't teach anything... why are you paying to go?
Josh- " Dustin! Who's blood is this? What have you done?!" lolol
These add prerolls are the best! ahahaha
hey, can i ask about how to write a script for music video ?
I love you.
cool shirt where did u get it?
He guys i have subscribed on their website and a message appeared:
"Your request has been received and information has been sent to you" But I have not received an email or a link where to watch? help me out !!!
this dude on some bone thug level speech speed.. jeeze
So, we make short films. Do you think we should continue to make trailers for our films? Or are they unnecessary?
Cinesummit site went down the moment it launched :( . Refreshing like a BOSS waiting for it to be brought online again!
Its up now! Watching some free sweet cinematography tips. Thanks for informing me @filmriot!
it doesn't work for me...
We were sweating big time for those 15 or so minutes!
The skit with the bat looks like a reference to a really good scorsese movie that I've never seen or heard of. Immediately I felt Leonardo DiCaprio should be playing the part of the guy with the bat. Is this a reference to something? If not, please make it into something. That scene alone would be a showstopper.
Well, young Leonardo, like 10 years ago. He's a bit too old now.
Laughed uncontrollably here: 5:02
what movie is that? the one with diego luna
Casanova. It was a pilot that was never picked up.
ryan the shirt you are wearing i have it
Wait a moment! Did you say for free or for three?
I'm so confused
Anything for editors?
Is this the end of the Justin VS Bob sketches? D: (His name was Bob, right?)
HEY! RYAN! Would you ever consider remaking a short film of yours? ALSO! Will you ever try and create outsiders again?
Hey Ryan! Can't seem to access the free CineSummit. Am I the only one having this issue?
ViLITE, did you end up getting in? what was the issue? I'd like to tighten up any holes we have. Thanks!
Yes I did have a problem getting in. For some reason the link in my email was not responding correctly.
What's the name of that film at 7:52?
aye
How much is it?
Josh is a hilarious actor.
I'm just drooling for some of that cine knowledge. I reserved both days not going to leave my house and be stuck on my computer screen. So not that much different from usual.
That's it man! You'll need about 6 hours per day to catch it all :)
Poor Justin. Can't catch a break. 😂
0:09 anyone have their secret decoder ring handy?
5
_corset_ 😎
Are the free courses available in Europe?
It's online :) Anybody anywhere can pull it up and watch. Just register and you're in!
CineSummit Just because it is online it does not mean it will be available everywhere. Different countries can have different servers.
CineSummit can we attend the summit irl?
I'm not sure if it's free when off world.
"All I can say is we have not restricted it from our end from being viewable in any countries."
FILM RIOT one request.
pls do movie reviews! It'll be nice and useful if u do it in your channel!!!
They used to have a channel (FilmState) where they did movie reviews, but they stopped for reasons they've mentioned before.
Hahahaha! Missed it by that much!!! :-D
Do you know what specific times on April 4th and 5th? It doesn't say on the website.
Tommy Bowles Film Riot please answer!
Tommy Bowles - each day the new set of presentations begin at 8 AM Pacific time (United States/California time)
Ok, thanks!
