...... no it's not a Life Is Strange piece.
This piece was written and recorded in under 2 days during 'Storm Emma', hence the title. It's also my biggest use of production to date, I'm trying to get more into filming outdoors and this was difficult for a number of reasons... namely filming in -2C is not good for your or your violin's health.
Have to say, you're one of a very select few artists on this platform who's original scores vastly outshines their cover work. Keep doing your thing my friend.

Coming back to this 4 years later and seeing how much your channel has grown and the new direction you took with it, by the gods no matter how much I enjoy your recent works and covers I just can’t stop wanting to hear more of this style.
I had thought of a story where a town must prepare for a once in a lifetime destructive storm that may raze their entire town to the ground, and only their teamwork and their tolerance with each others can help them survive. This song helped make that story easier to convey

I have never gone back through and listened to every video put out by ANYONE on CZcams before. I have to say I should have done it with your work a long time ago. Amazing stuff, truly. Watching you grow in talent with each video is truly an incredible journey to watch.
I played violin when I was very young, and I have to say you're one of the few that truly inspires me to try and pick it up again all these years later.
Music makes me fall back to stories so to this peice here we go.
The trail over the mountain side was rough and covered in snow. Something they were growing ever familiar with as they had scaled the treacherous cliff side, but they knew the hardships they had faced to get this far were worth it. The trees split and the sky gave way as they crested the end of the trail and oh the world that opened infront of their eyes. The clouds moved slow over the painted white terrain the air ao cold not even the wind moved across this vast white plane, and small little lights dotted the scene. They gazed out from their mountain top and upon the town that laid ahead, for it had been maybe a decade or so since their eyes had graced this land. Be it nostalgia or something more they couldn't fight the smile that had worked its way onto their face, and as they took in the veiw a tear rolled down their check. "Welcome home weary traveler it's been quite some time, but I knew it would be worth even that climb" the poetic verse came from their lips as they straightened their pack, grabbed their hiking poles and began to work down the mountain side to the place they call home
What a hauntingly, beautiful piece. Your composition skills have me jealous. That was always my hardest subject at university.
Beautiful and haunting. One can sense the calm and anticipation before the "storm". I've been listening to it on repeat for a few hours now. It would make a great title piece for the introduction of a game or a trailer. Keep up the good work! :D

Wonderful. A curious question though: What is it about northern music that always makes it sound like there is a wide landscape that is hiding a mysterious and ancient secret that when discovered reveals something bittersweet? Is this an essential part of northern imagination or is it just me? This feeling just seems more predominant than in music of other hemispheres.
well it is something regional.. yes, it may come from the fact that we still have those wild landscapes with some mysterys hiding here and there ;D
But yeah it is basically a commonly shared national, and regional perception, we grow up with fairytales,stories, lullabies and sayings that all feature similar Motives. so it is widely percepted.

It could very well be that this is just because we've seen this music used so often with slow camera glides over exactly that sort of landscape, in exactly that sort of story. (And with either a woman with wind-blown hair somewhere to the side, or nine companions on a quest making their way through the landscape.)
@@Julia-lk8jn I understand what you mean, that our imagination is guided by suggestion and association and at least part of that is true - but I think there is a more poetic component involved as well - that musical perception is an intersensual expression from our subconscious which is guided not only by cultural association but by nature - even to a level that sounds can express deeper and more complex feelings hidden from our logic but very similar in everyones experience making them very present in certain situations or even landscapes

There’s Frostpunk’s “Into the Storm”, but it’s more of a buildup to “The City Must Survive”, the storm’s actual theme.

When the first break occurred, I would have suggested a gypsy like fast beat instead, like the blizzard of a storm (hence the lead into the storm) then the second break was perfect to show the land after it was snow covered (in the listener's head).
You are a huge inspiration for my work. I really want to learn composing better, get some new instruments (like the violin and maybe even a tunglharpa) and arrange it with other instruments.
