Stick with it Ken! I warned you! Learning to repair will be just as important as learning to fly. Huge learning curve!
Thank God I had a little bit of soldering experience before this.. soldering tiny whoops to fix antennas and other things is crazy. Pads r like 2mm.. had to replace and solder sma port on goggles twice. But now the repair and upgrade and learning half the fun. Frankensteined my cinecan to fix it. Removed tarsier 4k to go in better drone hopefully

If you're looking for insane freestyling skills, check out Mr Steele, he even did a shoot at Carraway Hospital a few years back...not my hero, but he's way better than I am. I'm more known in the community for building, troubleshooting, and 3D printing parts for quads...i'm an engineer's engineer..i fix things, i invent stuff, i solve problems, i keep evolving the things I make...but it's all the infrastructure needed to keep my birds in the air 🤘

I'd recommend one of the Bardwell kits, he picks the parts for you, and provides detailed walkthrough on how to build, setup, and fly. Since yoj build it, you can repair it (when you full throttle into a concrete column 🤣)

Just keep flying everyday, you'll get better fast, and confident in your gear. Might stick to open spaces with long grass to easy your "landings" until you've got acromode down pat and then add a couple trees...if you do it everyday it's quickly 2nd nature, just like driving a car

My other 2 quads were down...had that mid-air with Brian on the first pack....was working furiously to field repair it, cuz i knew i had to get the star later..the struggle is real man 🤣

Not much of a difference, these are Armattan Rooster, Armattan Marmotte, and Brian was flying the TBS Source One. I'd make sure the frame design meets your needs. Like racing frames are straight X with a little pod, freestyle/crusing frames are typically X or wider X, with a big long bus frame with lots of room and i'm a big fan of the Titanium camera cages on Armattan frame 👍

Ken, Did you ever practice with the smaller FPV setups? I went all in last year and the full size FPV had such a crazy learning curve it got stored away.... wanting to try it again
5 inchers are WAAAAAY easier to fly than tiny whoops.

Fly High FPV thanks man! Thinking of grabbing Velocidrone to practice before I pull out my Wizard X220s. What are your thoughts on simulators?
@@dronen00b91 mine are mixed. Sims are a great place to get that initial muscle memory, but they fly alot different than real life...so i prefer to train on the real thing...but i'm also willing to replace expensive parts everytime i crash...so it's all a balance

Best beginner drone is the one with lots of spare parts ;) We smash em alot ;) Check out Joshua Bardwell's Budget Builds for great parts lists and walkthroughs!
The tinyhawk 2 has a great RTF version with goggles. Obviously if you end up committing to the hobby and want to get bigger quads, you'll still need to buy a nice transmitter, and potentially a nice set of goggles if you don't like the RTF ones, but that comes much later.

Non profit is still considered "In furtherance of a business" by the FAA. However, you could most likely get away with it.

We had a mid-air once, my friend tried to pull a top gun move in front of me and I slammed right into him, knocked him out the sky because he only ever flew angle mode and so didn't know what to do when he got knocked upside down (I didn't even crash).
We thought it funny as shit but the old guys didn't and shortly after they kicked me out the club, even though they regularly flew into the side of the barn because they were so old and blind they couldn't see a five foot wide fixed wing plane right in front of them, but yeah, the quads were the danger and I was the irresponsible flyer. I've since found some new quad buddies, they're mad and think I'm the boring one, oh the irony lol
I wish we had derelict buildings like that over here in the UK but we don't, as soon as they become empty they get torn down.

Fly High FPV didn't quiet work out like that, he practically blackmailed the owner of the club into kicking me out, threaten to not help them run their business if I was allowed to stay being a member "I'm not coming if he is here, and I won't cut your grass for you either", quiet a low selfish thing to do to someone in a wheelchair at the time, but from what I hear, even his own kids don't much like him. Yeah, he'll be reading this comment cos I know he subs to Ken, LOL so I do like to stir things up a bit hehe.

Ok thanks! I’m not sure if you can help me with my problem but when I move my throttle up on the controller, (not plugged into the computer,) the motors start to spin but then they start going to a certain speed and I can’t control the throttle anymore! The motors keep going the same pace but when I move all of the other directions on the remote the correct motors are spinning. Only the throttle even when I move the throttle down fully and fully up! I don’t think it is turtle mode because the motors are spinning but I’m really not sure what to do.
@@dp4advanced234 wen the props are off the motors arent properly loaded and they do that. The FC is managing the motor speed based on the throttle you give it (and it's wonky because no props). I'd recommend testing them in BetaFlight on the motors tab, where you have direct control over each individual motor, instead of the gyro taking your inputs and the quad's position and then telling the motors what to do. My first hover test is in a big open space, I'll start with the right stick, tilt forward and back and left to right to be sure the props orientation is correct and it's properly leaning in each direction. If that goes well, I'll slowly throttle up and try a hover. After you land, check that the motors arent too hot. If all is well, keep stepping it up. If it passes the hover test, then you're ready for the goggles! Seriously, hit me up if you need help..we're all troubleshooting machines.
