The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is the premier late night talk show on CBS, airing at 11:35pm EST, streaming online via Paramount+, and delivered to the International Space Station on a USB drive taped to a weather balloon. Every night, viewers can expect: Comedy, humor, funny moments, witty interviews, celebrities, famous people, movie stars, bits, humorous celebrities doing bits, funny celebs, big group photos of every star from Hollywood, even the reclusive ones, plus also jokes.
I have a TS/SCI clearance (inactive) and it blows my mind that anyone thinks that’s just ok, or you can just toss holy water on them and say “you are declassified”.
That’s not how anything works for anyone, ever. It’s obscenely illegal.
Watch what William Barr (I know, but it is good)said about this. He said that blanket declassifying a box of documents that trump had no concept of what is contained is actually worse than just keeping the documents (he said there was no justification for that either) and is a gross abuse of power to even try to do that. When the former AG who lied repeatedly to help trump comes out and says trump's actions are flat out illegal that's pretty bad. I only had a secret clearance and when I worked in battalion S3 and typed up the unit status reports if I kept the carbons used for the typewritten copies (this was back in 1982) then I would have been quickly arrested and sent to Leavenworth. Those reports were a very small part of a secret level document that eventually goes slightly upstairs and nowhere near the White House so it's amazing to think of those level of documents just sitting around trump's office which cleaning staff, casual visitors and people who wandered in and wanted to see what was hidden down there could access.
It allows the USA not to face the problem. Which is that half their citizens are at a stage beyond reason. Either way this can only be solved by putting a lot of people away, which can only end in a blood bath. And unlike Republicans they shy away from that.

I think what has been absent is who enabled Trump to take the documents. He had to get them from somewhere by someone, and that someone should have taken it back to secure storage. It would be very interesting or extremely boring to find out who. Or if there were some actual orders in place to facilitate Trump's squirreling away of classified docs.

I dont understand how a judge appointed by a suspect can be allowed to make judgements on the suspect case...?that's worrisome...can this happen in canada?? I sure hope not.

In Canada, our parole board let out a guy with 59 criminal convictions, saying he was safe,and he and his brother just murdered 10 people by stabbing them to death, so our justice system is useless as well.

Alex Wagner hasn't and will probably never cover Julian Assange. That's the only story that should concern the press right now. Because if he's extradited here and jailed on BS charges it's the official end of the free press. Assange is a journalist with impeccable integrity. He published and reported leaked files from whistle-blower Chelsea Manning. Those files are proof of war crimes by the Bush and Obama administrations. Assange didn't hack or steal the files. He hasn't broken any laws. He's embarrassed powerful people and that's why he's being persecuted. End of the free press should concern Alex.
Life in prison is a better punishment and can be reversed if they're later found innocent.

As far as the citizenry, and not the political class, it doesn't seem to be a question of IQ (with the exception of those people Jordan Klepper quizzes 😂). I know a number of engineers, doctors, pilots and other solid citizens who bought into the charisma and mob hysteria of electing Trump and now seem to find it easier to drink another cup of KoolAid than to re-examine the foundation of their beliefs. Alex Wagner is an intelligent, tested and experienced journalist. as a TV presenter she has been around for awhile doing great work. MSNBC got lucky that she was available to take over the prime evening hour for Rachel.
