  • Oh Italy... every time I visit, you blow my mind! We had no expectations about Bari and the Puglia region in general, but we fell in love since the very first minute! This has to be one of Italy's most underestimated regions. I don't understand why more people don't come here!
    Did you know Italy is my favorite country? I have a weird connection with it. I don't know if it's the food, the language, the history, the sights, but it's a country I fell in love with since the first time I visited when I was 19... many many years ago!!! (I'm 35)
    We hope you enjoy this Bari Italy vlog! We didn't really have a plan here, but somehow we ended up trying all the best foods and it honestly felt like being on vacation. We can't wait to be back to Italy!
    Let us know if you have any questions and thanks so much for watching our videos :) We really, really appreciate it!!

      Hi, Our family of 4 is coming to the region in mid June. How many days do you recommend us staying in the Puglia region? Would 10 days be enough to spend there? And where should we split our time from Bari? To Lecce. We will pick up the car from ROME.

    • @waysoftheworld_
      @waysoftheworld_  Před rokem +1

      @@miavirginia7767 Hi :) There's so much to see in this region honestly, but it depends on what you like. 10 days with a car should be a great start to get a taste of it though! And about splitting your time in the region, we're not sure because we've only been to Bari and did a quick day trip to a nearby town. We would suggest pick 2-3 bigger cities as a base and then do day trips either by car or train ;) safe travels and enjoy your time in Italy!

    We just spent 11 days in Bari, taking day trips around Puglia by train. Your video brought back wonderful memories. Polignano a Mare was spectacular. You should check out Alberobello. After Bari we took a train north and spent 11 days in Pescara, in Abruzzo. More modern that Bari as it was rebuilt after WWII. The food is incredible and the city is vibrant, with beautiful beaches. It is very close to the Gran Sasso, but you really need a car to explore the region.

      @@waysoftheworld_ have been to Italy 3 times, unfortunately all on business so saw very little of the place in terms of taking a week or two to stroll around villages the likes of Bari. I live in New Zealand which although very nice and endowed with natural beauty, there’s nothing in the way of the extraordinary housing and village life that your video so beautifully shared with us. I love European culture where through so many parts of Europe it’s people can do genuine ‘village food and drink and celebration’ particularly in the balmy sunny evenings, like no other. It seems like they park their differences and share a meal together. Anyway, thanks again, wonderful video, you manage to capture so much, I can almost taste the food combinations

    just a heads-up for your next trip in italy: the classic italian gesture 🤌is basically a question mark. We use it when we say "what do you want?" or "what are you saying?" or even just "what?". And we use it more when we are angry. It doesnt make much sense with an affirmative sentence 👀
    The old man at the end is speaking Bari dialect and even thouhg I live one hour and a half away from the city I could only understand something about him being stronger than a young man.
    Next time you visit puglia I suggest Ostuni, Monopoli (very close to polignano), alberobello, and more to the south Lecce. Also Matera (oldest city in europe) is a must see in the near Basilicata region (just half an hour from bari)

      Hmmm, we were there in June, not sure why the train showed a different date 🤷🏻‍♀️ we were in that general area a couple of months ago and can say that it is definitely not warm enough to go in the water. May might be warm enough air temp, but I guess the sea would be chilly. Have so much fun in Bari - you will love it! The link to the sunnies is in the description, in case your interested 😎

      Hi! Yes, sorry, we didn't really plan this video as we usually do. The trip was last minute and we were just hanging out in Bari, and eating our way around because we love Italian food! To answer some of your questions: 1. Orecchiette was 2.5 EUR for 1/2 kg - 2. We visited a few churches, but we usually don't show that stuff in our videos. The St Nicholas church in particular was stunning! 3. We didn't spend much time on the seaside so we really don't know 🙈 - hope this helps! Have an amazing time in Bari. It's a beautiful city!!

    Nice video, a bit caricatural with the mandolin because the typical music of Puglia is the Pizzica... The orechiette which means "little ears" are eaten in Puglia with cime di rappa. And panzerotti are not a speciality of Bari but of the Apulian region ;-) PS : if you liked Bari, you would have loved Lecce (the Florence of the Baroque) so much ! And the beaches on the Ionian part of Salento are fabulous.
