  • If you close your eyes, can you tell the difference between the Taimane Signature Ukulele and the neya Feather? They look almost identical in body shape, but why is the Feather priced at $100 more? In this video, I'll be playing and comparing the Taimane and the Feather Enya Ukuleles so that if you're in the market for an Enya, you can choose the one that is right for you.

Thanks Katie. I’ve been waiting for this review. Very good. They both are very nice Hard to choose I like my pink concert nova. I wish they would consider making one like this in concert style. Maybe they will !

The Taimane Moon looks super and it’s a shame Enya didn’t see fit to include a better case for such a lovely instrument.

Great video as always. If you don't mind asking, what is this music that you play every time you review a ukulele?

This was a great review. I prefer the Feather for it's beauty and gloss finish. The model I own is the purple Pro Tenor that you also demonstrated. It is a fraction of the cost, weatherproof and appears to be an identical body type to the solid wood models. I had mine restrung for a lefty with Enya florocarbon strings. If you have any influence with Enya, please ask them to make left handed ukuleles. I have tried.

I'm considering one of these two ukulele's. I think, after listening to this several times, that the Feather does have a nicer overall sound when played acoustically, but trying to decide between the two is pretty hard. They're both great ukuleles! I will leave a comment when I figure out which one I want to get. Thanks for this really good review! It was the most helpful one I could find.

I ended up getting the same Taimane Moon that you used in this video - I love the blue. I love the look of the Feather a little better, but in your demo I liked the sound of the Moon better.

I think that the difference in tone is down to the soundholes, similar to the difference between the soundholes in Mandolins, F holes and O holes. Thanks so much for another great video. XX

    Great review.
Glossy versus satin. It's about the lacquer stickiness; BUT, once you play your satin neck regularly, it will become just as smooth as a lacquered neck. With regular playing, I have made two unfinished open pore mahogany necks become absolutely smooth and shiny. Which makes them play just about the same as a gloss lacquered neck, depending on the type of lacquer used.
These are out of my price range. What I really want in a ukulele is perfect intonation. It is super important to the functionality of an instrument. Yet few manufacturers really get it right on the low end instruments. I write this in many of my comments in the hope that manufacturers will get a clue and sell ukuleles with proper intonation on all of their models.

Hi! I'm not sure how often you take requests (or if you do) for ukulele tutorials, but would it be possible for you to do one for The Commission by CAIN??

I decided to go with the Taimane moon 5 string with the double low G. It was a toss up between that and the feather but I really liked the sound of the double low G. ❤❤❤😊😊😊 both are beautiful instruments. Great review 😊😊😊

👍 I think that the Taimane model has a brighter and more ‘brash’ tone; more volume, probably due to the larger sound hole. The feather has a mellower tone and a sound that lends itself to traditional island music. The Feather would do justice to Iz’s Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World or Na Leo’s Ave Maria, the Taimane would be well suited to the plethora of more modern ukulele styles that emphasize intricate strumming and picking styles.
