I've been using the Primos Trigger sticks (tripod version) for the past year and have developed an opinion on their usefulness as both a shooting rest and a miscellaneous tripod. As a shooting rest, they work every bit as well as you'd expect them too. They are expensive, yet, they are really your only option for something that is free standing and adjustable with one hand. As a miscellaneous tripod, I find them to work great for everything that would require a short tripod (self filming on the ground, glassing, etc). They would make an excellent option for shooting tight turkey patterns, helping out new shooters, or holding steady for longer shots.

Well done! Good job that someone has finally clearly explained what is allegedly the "problem on smooth surfaces" that the Primos Gen. 2 tripod is "supposed to have"....! As you have cleverly point it out, who is the weirdo who is going to use this tripod on a frozen lake...? Or even inside an indoor environment like a house floor with marble or laminate floor...? I guess only a sniper can face this sort of problems.... ;) I am glad I bought the Gen 2 and saved over £50...!

I have a Fourth Arrow fluid head. I know a lot of guys that use the smaller Manfrotto heads as well.

I did a review of the tall version of the Primos Tripod Sticks (Generation 2). If you are ever interested in a tall version for running & gunning, using in a blind, etc. you should check out my review of that particular tripod: czcams.com/video/ZBgT-O5CaN8/video.html
