Regarding the lyrics of this song... There was a presumptive view that BabyMonster, being mentored and being little sisters of BlackPink, that they would be following the BlackPink template. The pre-debut Batter Up did nothing to dispel this idea, as it did follow the traditional YG style. Some people instantly wanted to cage them as BlackPink clones and haters dream was that they would be stuck there. But "Don't get it twisted" BabyMonster will not conform. It is Bitter that your negative dream that they would be stuck under the shadow of BlackPink is broken, but its sweet because a new type of group is now revealed to the world. BabyMonster will "spread their wings" into genres you have not imagined before, so do not think you can lock them in. They will go on in their own dream and shine in their own way.
â@@KPopOnLock i wouldn't limit the message so hard to the blackpink context... i see it more like a general "coming of age" as a group song... it is them singing about having no worries, being confident about their talents and ability to keep following their dream... forever and yes they talk to anybody having doubts so also the ones that doomed them to remain in bp shadow... forever but it could be as well 2ne1 or any yge or other group, i mean blackpink themselves in this case are not that important.. it's not about them i mean framing it in such a way so hard ironically puts babymonster somewhat back in that shadow also just because most people associate this kind of style (speaking about batter up and sheesh) with blackpink, it doesn't mean it belongs to blackpink... it is yge style and babymonster hopefully will not try to avoid it by any means necessary that would be weird since they were introduced as babies with yge gene, they surely can find its own voice within this style i would say they already had but it will get crystallized even more with every new release... shit takes time... but yeah i don't think this song is about any relationship at all... in a way they got invitation to the huge career that is ahead of them and even the shoes they got with it are less about cinderella stuff and more about filling the shoes or rather about not filling anybody else shoes because they have their own that they are filling with flying colors :) i guess one could consider the huge heel in the mv as the blackpink's one... it is black after all but i am sure their silver ones one day will get as huge or maybe even bigger
I love your comment! I didn't even think of the giant heel! I honestly don't think they will have any problem getting out from under that shadow and to me they already have. BP is the reason we started this channel. BM was the first group we covered on this channel. I was late to the party with BP having only discovered them last year. Getting to know them has been a bright spot in my life to say the least and I'm thrilled to be with BM early on. I adore each member from both groups. I'm excited to learn more about 2NE1. Anyways Thank You for your insight and comments! (Guy in the glasses)
@@KPopOnLock glad u liked it... ngl kinda proud of myself about this shoe connection i made lol bp as for many was also my entry point to kpop... it is interesting how many people especially in murica are quick to discredit kpop as something manufactured and fake as if pop in the west wasn't or that it would take anything away from the whole experience that clearly have a very positive effect on so many people you and me included it seems...
Be proud! I'm kinda jealous I didn't think of it. I agree, it is interesting and my friend who fell in love with BP, I was surprised how long it took him to come around to other groups. He now loves BM, and others, like you said "shit takes time". I have been slowly introducing my friends to K-Pop being careful not to smother them too much. It is much harder to get my guy friends into it, they seem less receptive. I will say for me at first it was like an assault on my eyes and ears, I said to myself "What is going on here?". As time went on things started to click, and still when I hear new K-Pop songs they don't always hit on the first listen. K-Pop is all I want to talk about and listen to these days. I was never into western music much except for Reggae/oldies 60-80s and I think I can name more K-Pop artists than american artists at this point. Anyways I'll stop for now. Thanks again!
Don't forget the studio vocals is also organically tuned. The girls sing again and again in the studio booth until the producer gets the sound he wants. Not machine or AI tuned.
Great Reaction K-pop On Lock! Those lyrics you were singing are from The Human League! Donât You Want Me! Baby! All the women folks that were watching took off for the hills! Iâll use BlackPink as an example! If they just invited me for a cup of coffee! And then just left me with the bill I would consider it an honor! I watched BABYMONSTER last night Live on MBC Radio FM4U91.9 and it was a great vocal performance! And Ahyeon and Chiquita were sick and they still nailed their parts! Yâall Take Care! đ€đđ»

"u thought i was yours" can be a message to their haters as well because the haters think they can control em and they hv been getting hates since batter up release to the point that it was too forced and the haters said before that their song was a carbon copy of any BP song and then they released different concept like stuck in the middle like that and sheesh yet the haters still find a way to spread hates towards em saying they dont have their own identity yada yada so that's y i think the lyrics of this song was meant for the haters
No no no chime in. Don't even suggest backup vocals. Doubt your own eyes and ears. Baby Monster does not need any aids. The girls backup up vocal support each other live every time. Even their mv are organically tuned by singing again and again in the recording studio booth until the producer gets the sound he wants. It is not machine or AI tuned.
Maybe he has sensitivity to light and the studio lights give him a headache. I have a cousin with that and she has to put sunglasses on indoors sometimes because of harsh lighting.
