Find the belly useful so i don't mind the raised tip. I don't reach for a knife that size for puncture tasks. I do agree Kizer and CJRB both make good knives. I have the Kizer Genie in my top 5 atm. The Maileah is in the top 10.
Got mine a few weeks ago. After adjusting the lock bar tension the knife is now super easy to flip and is fairly drop-shutty, while having zero blade play. I totally agree about the jimping on the flipper. Also - the edge count have been a little thinner, plus it arrived with 20+ degrees per side, but that is an easy fix. In total - really cool, fun and functional little knife.

I have been looking for reviews of knives by a woman as I look for a budget knife to git my wife (as her first knife. Later I will gift her something more expensive). I will search through your channel for reviews that feature Kara's perspective (this is the first time I watch your channel, so I don't know if dual perspective reviews are your norm); but this is a fantastic dual-perspective review.
Just bought this on Amazon because i thought it looked dope. Thought i was buying a CRKT and had a mini heart attack when i saw after i bought it that it was a totally different brand that I'm not familiar with. Was worried it was some knock off bootleg Chinese brand but watching your video and seeing how much y'all praise this knife puts me at ease 🙏
😆 that's funny, nope you got lucky and got a good little knife, there's a large one coming soon as well. Swags is a cool chick that used to work at smoky mountain knives. And Artisan makes great knives cjrb is their budget line

I bought this knife to keep in my car in case of emergencies. It’s high quality, a great size
I really like the overall design. But it is just to small for my taste . If they made a larger version I would definitely get one.

I agree with almost everything your wife said. I would love a Wharncliffe version of the Maileah. And mine broke in pretty quickly and is easier to open now. I would love a jumbo version with a Wharncliffe blade near 4” as I can only get two full fingers on the Maileah.
A large version would be so badass! And i also disagree but thats the differences in hands i guess, but she loves it and loves using it

My detent was extremely tight when I got it making it very difficult to use the front flipper which was a bummer for me because front flippers are my favorite deployment method. Maybe I need to play with it more to get it broken in better
Yeah that always helps, week or so of fidget usually takes care of it

They are definitely fun, once you get used to them they are very easy to use

With the University having a 3" blade length limit this knife fits the bill wonderfully.
It's a good one to have, also check out the Kizer shard in micarta, and the Kizer Leib both are also fantastic
Little surprised on your edge retention comment,caedric and ada which I'm sure your familiar with had it pegged not far off of D2. Which for this price range with superior corrosion resistance think is fine. Even as someone who usually likes to settle for a minimum of S30v or D2 at worst.
For the record mines en route,who knows once I get my hands on it I could end up agreeing with you.
I know, but its what i was finding and remember i had great results from one of the knives, im also not doing controlled tests but i incourage you to go watch outpost76 controlled test, i didn't have as bad as issues as his, maybe they are still getting the ht right i honestly have no idea

I love my maileah I’m able to get a solid three finger grip it’s very fidgety that said the damned design Oni wins it’s the same size with thicker handle scale s35 front flipper with spidey hole and 80 bucks 🥳

2:58 I have to admit, I'm used to mainly being comfortable with knives that have a grip like a PM2 😂.
This is off topic but I was wondering if maybe you could do a video of the difference between a good sharpening choil vs a bad one and what makes them good or bad and how it effects sharpening. I looked through your sharpening videos and didn't see one. If you know of one where you talked about it already I'd be very interested in seeing it.
