- My cover of Brian May's arrangement of "God Save The Queen" from A Night At The Opera. Recorded using a Brian May Red Special guitar (using a sixpence as a pick) and Vox VBM1 amplifier.
Recorded direct using Shure SM57, no effects or post processing. Backing track created in Logic.
Thanks to Richard Boodell for lending me his Red Special to record this video.

Yes he does, and it makes a really noticeable difference to the tone. As the edge of a sixpence is serrated it adds a tiny 'scrape' onto the beginning of every note as well as giving them a real clarity.

Thanks, glad you liked it! Part of the reason I did this video was that I'd never seen anyone else do it before, plus the fact I couldn't find any accurate arrangements. I worked it out by ear and decided to film each part to demonstrate the way all the parts fit together.

I'm afraid I don't know what settings I had the amp set at. I can tell you it was definitely set with the gain switch set to "High" though. Just use your ears!
I believe the guitar was set to both the bridge and middle pickups on and in phase.

What were your VBM-1 setting for the tone? I've been using a Red Special and have been trying to adjust my VBM's settings but it's just a tad off...
