The Covid-19 pandemic created a fresh problem for our students to solve: how to build a functioning manufacturing workcell in a remote work environment. Thanks to the adoption of Rockwell’s Emulate 3D digital twin software, we were able to integrate fully functioning simulations of robot, plc, vision systems and so much more. The Ecospool team developed a system for recycling plastic bottles into ready to use 3D printer filament. This realistic simulation provided a great opportunity for the students to experience system design and debugging as a group while working in separate locations.
