Vicky Leandros or Vassiliki Papathanassiou (officially today Vassiliki, Baroness von Ruffin) was born in Corfu on August 23, 1949 and moved to Germany with her parents in 1959. She took guitar, vocal, ballet, dance and movement lessons since young age. Daughter of musician, composer, singer and producer Leandros Papathanassiou known as Leo Leandros who signed under the pseudonym Mario Panas. She started singing professionally in 1965. Her first song was recorded in 1965 in Germany and was a great success. However, she became better known two years later with L' Amour Est Bleu, with which she participated in the Eurovision Song Contest. In 1972 he entered the competition for the second time and won the first prize with the song Après Toi, which became a great success and set a sales record with 6 million singles worldwide. Dozens of records followed in English, French, German, Dutch, Japanese, Italian, Spanish and Greek. In 1986 she retired to raise her three children. In 1995 it reappeared in Germany and Central Europe with great success. Vicky Leandros is still singing.
