2021 Ducati Streetfighter V4S review - is it the best naked on sale?

  • The 2021 Ducati Streetfighter V4S is 208hp naked bike with wings for extra downforce - but you probably knew that. Join me for a ride on twisty roads, around town and on the motorway as I find out if the 2021 revisions (more mid-range torque!) have turned it into my favourite supernaked of all time - or is it just a bit too serious?

    Just shy of 6,000 miles since January on my Dark Stealth S.F. . Bike came alive after 3,500 miles. In track mode 90% of the time , wheelie control on 1 engine breaking 2 . I do have the Akra Exhaust map and air cleaner. NOTICEABLE difference. This is my every day means of transportation. Will get it dyno tested @ about 8,000 miles. WHAT a pleasure to ride this sleeper. Most people do not have any idea what this bike is capable of ! PLEASE try race mode, get the RPM'S up, let me know what you think..

    Not only is it informative but there's just the right amount of waffle to make it down to earth and "real world" unlike the typical reading off the press pack type of video you see loads of.
    Keep it up Tim!

    I’ve just got back from Yorkshire and done 1200 miles in 4days no problem with the comfort on my SF V4S , I’ve seen on here and other people saying no torque , it’s no different from my MT10SP, great bike that is as well, but I love my SF .

  • @Banditmanuk
    @Banditmanuk Před 3 lety +3

    £20,500! I definitely a rich man's play thing. I paid under £10,000 for my MT10 and guarantee that Ducati is not twice as good.
    A super naked should be a bit of a fun wheelie monster and some of that been dialled out with the Ducati. Never thought I would see a bike with worse fuel range that the 10 but think I see it here.
    Haha my Multistrada never did have a usable back brake.
    Nice honest review 👌

    I had the KTM SDR 1290 1.0.
    I loved it for about a year when I was constantly getting outdragged by Tuono's. The KTM would just wheelie for days instead of actually going forward. I hate to say it but it wore thin! Then the clutch exploded at 16k 🤬
    So 3 years ago I bought the 2018 68Reg Tuono v4 1100 Factory. Better in every single way to the KTM. Even better built. I tried the 21 Tuono and found it felt cheap and nasty in comparison to my 2018..... so only left the Ducati Street Fighter S. Then I heard that as you say they have the same torque but 2k lower in the rev range. I hope to pick my SFS on 1st September. I was also very impressed with the Triumph RS1200. Great bike. The thing that put me off was the linked tc and wheelie control.

      @@lordgibbness yes. Again Ducati were late with delivery. End of October was when I finally picked it up. I've since done 7500 miles on it and a few track days. Was perfect until 2 weeks ago where the water pump has failed so now I'm waiting once more on Ducati to get it in for warranty work. I have put a deposit down on the Streetfighter v4 SP that I was assured to be delivered in May..... Still waiting.....

      @TIMHARTTT yes I bought the 2021 V4S and did 10k miles on it the dreaded waterpump went at 6.5k. Fixed under warranty. Then a V4SP had a cancellation. Great bike. The dry clutch does not last long but everything else is absolutely spot on. No water pump issues as I think they finally sorted it. Coming upto 10k miles again 😊

    for what it's worth euro 5 is smoother and has a better throttle progression than euro 4. The torque at 9.500 rpm instead of 11.500 rpm is also a huge improvement for a naked. I own a MY2021 and tested a euro 4. Pity for those who bought the bike just 4 months before the release of the euro5 and understand their disappointment (also for the loss of value).

Still if you’ve got that sort of money you’d get a fully optioned Panigale non? Still doesn’t get me the way a 900SS with Conti Pipes grand old lumpy Vtwin did back in the 70s, 80s.

    Hello, for the little twisties, would you choose the Ducati Streetfighter V4S 2021 or the Triumph Speed Triple RS 2021 ? I have tried twice the Speed recently and should ride the Streetfighter next week and think of buying one of the 2 for the little curved roads back here in Britany France. Happy owner of a Triumph Rocket 3R, I would like to complete my fleet with a more joyfull bike dedicated to the little curves. And I already know it is going to be hard to decide of the 2. The way Torque and Power get delivered in 2nd and 3rd gears, mid range 5000 rpm++, the capacity to easily take the angle and also the engine sound involvement in that mid-range… So many questions but so little reviews of people who had the chance to try the 2 bikes as you did…. Any comments much appreciated ;-)

    • @timrodierides
      @timrodierides  Před 2 lety +1

      @maverickthepilotbiker2848 Před 2 lety +1

      @@timrodierides Thank’s for your constructive comment, I have tried the Streetfighter and again de Speed Triple and I cannot agree more with you. The Strreetfighter is coming from the Track DNA and is not as homogeneous as the Speed for the road. As you said, it is far better for the little twisties at legal speed. The Triumph dealership gave me the Speed for the week-end to try and explore deeper and so far I found nothing wrong to say about the Speed, an amazing bike to ride on the country side roads, an easy bike but very effective. Without any doubts, I will go for the Speed Triple, not the Streetfighter. Bravo Triumph !

    I love it but fail to see (or appreciate) why bikes have become so expensive. They are now comparatively priced with small cars where you get more cylinders, more seats, a roof, doors, aircon, power windows, HiFi, etc. What is it that makes bike manufacture sooooo expensive? Bikes cost five times more in dollars per kilogram (or pounds per pound for you UK peeps). I feel like I'm getting stitched up.

      Superbikes are much more than your every day bike - it’s about passion, precision, engineering and exclusivity. Things that you don’t get with “small cars”, the cars you get that same thing with cost over $100,000.

    • @CathodeRayNipplez
      @CathodeRayNipplez Před 3 lety

      @@AngelSapundzhiev You have totally missed the point. Try again.
      Passion costs nothing, CNC machining, casting and extrusion has made near everything precision (with the exception of Chinese crap), CAD and modelling had made engineering easy and cheap. Ducati make 50,000 bikes a year so there's nothing exclusive about that... What you're saying is milk from a hand raised cow costs five times the price of farm milk because the cow has a name and gets belly rubs?
      (Do you work in a marketing department by any chance?)

    • @AngelSapundzhiev
      @AngelSapundzhiev Před 3 lety +2

      @@CathodeRayNipplez it’s all about perception, my friend. If we are willing to pay for it, then what’s the problem? The price is determined by what the market is willing to pay for a certain product. And in all honesty, I ride and commute on a bike for 6 months out of the year (living in Chicago is hard to do more than that) and to me the cost is completely justified as these bikes give me the thrill, the adrenaline and the enjoyment no other car gives me, even my Benz ML350 with all the comfort and features it has. To me, having a beautiful bike that can be appreciated on a daily basis is priceless. And many others feel the same way, I’m sure. This is why we are willing to pay the asking price and it is what it is, has nothing to do with manufacturing and cost of production, in the big picture of things.
