I was a Girl Scout through 12th grade (1959) it is a wonderful program.
Purple is my most favorite, as it is a branch off blues which I've loved forever❤
What special gifts you made for your Girls Scouts, Jennifer! I was inspired by the one you stitched for your daughter and bought the pattern. I have a "secret pal" high school girl that I taught in 4th grade, so I am going to stitch it for her. It was a delight to see "the princess" and I wish her a wonderful experience at college.
DMC is still my favorite floss. Over the years, they have expanded their flosses to include different types as well as the tried and true single color skeins.
Venturing down the floss aisle in a Hobby Lobby still brings me joy! Hundreds of rich and luxurious colors! Someday I am going to inventory what I have in my stash and splurge on filling ones I don't have. DMC is truly a great thread for an affordable price.
Beautiful finishes!!! The bag is going to be gorgeous!!!
Carol, Jennifer, and Jenna...loved all you shared...congratulations on the ribbons...beautiful duffel bag...I am a DMC gal...best wishes to you all and happy stitching ❤❤
I am an Aida stitcher - I do like classic color works and DMC, thank you for pointing out that Aida projects won ribbons at the state fair - speaking of state fair Congratulations Jennifer on your ribbons !!!
The duffel bag is beautiful
Your daughters projects are also beautiful
Carol / I love your projects bags
I’m somewhat new to machine sewing and I want to try cork - thank you for the cork sewing tips
Safe Travels to New York!
Best wishesto your daughter/granddaughter. I teared up just listening to you talk about the bridging ceremony, I recall them very well😢. You are one of the truly gifted leaders, no wonder the ho e office grabbed you and not letting go! You are an amazing lady. And as for mom😂, what can I say,I could spend hrs just listening to her. Love you both. Hugs from the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. Linda
thank you for all you have done for the girl scouts. They have had a great leader.
Thank you 💗
I'm pretty much a DMC fan. I've always loved the colors, and it's been a consistently good floss for me for decades! 😂. All the best to Jenna as she heads off to school! Loved seeing all of your projects today. Jenn, the things you stitched for your girl scout troop were lovely!😊
I use DMC more than any other floss because its so economical. Jenna is a sweetheart and has her Mom's beautiful smile!
Thank you 😊
Congratulations on your winning stitcheries. So nice
Love the G. S. Quilt!
The duffel bag is amazing! Wow!! How exciting for Jenna starting a new adventure!! Her diamond pieces are so cheery! Wishing yoy a safe and fun trip dropping ger off at college.
Good luck to your daughter in college and safe travels. Love her diamond painting. I like stitching with classic color works. I also sometimes stitch with MO’s silk. I really love her silk. She sells on Saturdays on FB. Thank you for another great flosstube!
Always fun to see your projects! DMC is my favorite floss.
Love all the stitching. Congrats on the ribbons! The duffel bag turned out so cute, love her color choices. Good luck on the college drop off. Have fun at retreat. I love DMC colors are plentiful and can’t beat the price. The gentle art, simply shaker collection is my favorite fancy floss to use.
Enjoy your retreat, and the drive to college...that's a trip and a life transition your daughter will never forget!
My favorite cotton floss is DMC, my favorite silk is Hand Dyed Fibers by Victoria Clayton. Congrats on the State Fair ribbons!
Wishing Jenna a wonderful experience at college. I loved all of her diamond paintings. I have two 14 year old granddaughters that love to do those. My hands down favorite floss is Vikki Clayton’s Hand Dyed Fibers - a wonderful silk!!!
Congratulations on all your diamond painting Jen! and good luck on the start of your college years!
High ladies.😊 WOW WOW WOW, Ms. Jenna your kicking butt on those DPs. They look amazing so glad your enjoying them. Best of luck in school. See you next time kiddo. Jen and Carol, drop off will be hard be ready but you will get through it...Promise. 😊 Thanks again for another great video...
Congratulations on your fair entries! I'm so glad people still participate so we can enjoy the fair displays! What beautiful gifts you made for the troops! And the diamond paintings were amazing! I have only ever had DMC threads until this spring when I used Weeks Dye Works in a cross stitch and was not happy when I ran out of it, only to discover that I couldn't get an exact colour match. So I'm very happy to stay with my DMC collection!
Thank you for showing all your wonderful things. I love those mini bags you made. I am a DMC girl. Safe travels to college drop off.
Hi Carol. Great to see you on my phone!😮
I don't really have a favorite floss. It was nice to see Jenna again with her completed projects. Good luck in your next adventure Jenna. Happy 90th Birthday to your husband Carol. Jen I know all those girls will remember all the great memories with you. Congratulations on all your fair ribbons.
I enjoy stitching with Aurifloss thread even though I don't stitch with it as often as I would like to. Good luck to your daughter as she heads off to college. Thanks for sharing all your personal stories that went along with your stitching and quilting. Congrats on the fair ribbons!
This was a fun video and I always get excited I’m a see your new videos! I pray Jenna has a awesome new school year, God bless her and keep her safe!!!!!!! DMC. 💚
I love gentle art threads and dmc equally! Thanks for a great show, loved your bag!
Carol, the love for your granddaughter shows beautifully. Great episode as always. My favorite brand floss is Colour and Cotton, but probably use DMC more than any floss. 🪡🪡🪡
I loved seeing that beautiful t-shirt quilt & hearing about your love for the Girl Scouts! My favorite brand of floss is DMC.
Thanks so much for the shout out and I'm glad that we are Flosstube friends! Looking forward to meeting you both one day! Your Girl Scout troop Bridging to Adult Ceremony share was very touching. I do understand how you get attached to the girls as I was a troop leader for 11 years. It is bittersweet because you love to see them exploring new horizons, but will feel a void at meeting times for a bit. Cannot wait to see what you do with your free time now. You both had beautiful stitching this week. The National Park and the white one-color= floss on the red fabric was gorgeous! I prefer DMC to most others since I have stitched with it the most. Your Winter Scene FFO is beautiful also! Enjoy you retreat!
Thanks Dottie, it was such a great experience to be their leader!
Good luck with the college drop off. Projects are beautiful. I really like silk floss.
I saw your State Fair entry! Congratulations! I talked to a lady standing next to me and said”the person who stitched that is a flosstube friend of mine”! Then I had to explain what flosstube was! Great job!
Oh that’s so neat - thanks!
Wow! You're both going to be flat out for a while! Look after yourselves. ⚘️ Lovely finishes/progress as always. Thank you for filming. Enjoy your retreat! xx
My fave floss is The Gentle Art.
DMC is my favorite. As hard as it is to leave them at college, we found it harder to drop our son off at the airport for navy boot camp. You only get to talk to them once in that first 12 weeks. Our son is serving his ninth year and we have adapted to him living on the other side of the country and sometimes on the other side of the world. Thank goodness for FaceTime. Best of luck to your daughter at college and thanks for the video!
I love CCW’s floss but I stitch mostly with DMC , I love it and there is so much variety now❤ what a great video from that gorgeous quilt to the Princess and her lovely works of art to beautiful sewing and fabulous stitching! You ladies are super talented❤ have fun at retreat maybe next year I’ll make it up! Blessings ♥️💗❤️
I am a DMC only user. They are easy to find for purchasing and the color results are beautiful.
I so enjoy watching you both! What fun you have together. I LOVE stitching with Sulky. I only stitch on 14 count aida (old eyes) and it’s a pleasure to stitch with one thread! I’ve stitched with many other brands and they all seem the same to me, even the silks 🫎
Great video - I was a girl scout and loved it! What a thoughtful gift you made them they will treasure it I am sure. I really enjoy using Color & Cotton floss.
Wonderful video! I was happy to see Jenna as the special guest. I started a diamond painting project because of her. She showed or you showed a couple small projects she had completed a few months ago and I thought, okay, I would like to try that. Her projects on this video are fabulous. My favorite brand of floss is Classic Colorworks. I love the colors and the variegation. Blessings and take care.
DMC. Hands down it wins! But I also love Roxy Floss Co and Classic Colorworks. Beautiful diamond painting. I’m amazed at how fast she gets them done. Safe travels to New York.
Truly enjoyed your video. Your daughter/granddaughter is a sweetheart! Please wish her good luck in her endeavors. Great content, ladies! I think Weeks Dye Works has great variegation if that is what I need. However, I think DMC is my all-time favorite. I love the vibrancy of DMC colors. I haven’t used silks yet. Happy stitching! ❤
My favorite floss is DMC, because I know it is colorfast.
That's a gorgeous duffle you made! I also loved the smaller bags. So beautiful! Good luck to Jenna! My oldest went to college last year and it was rough on me. I loved the sweet inspirational stitches and notes. What a great gift. I love Weeks Dye Works floss because I can cut it any length and the dye lots stay pretty true. I love stitching with Cosmo Black and White floss over other brands.
Carol, it was nice meeting you at the store. I will be back! Jen, I saw your entries at the state fair. They were beautiful. I believe I like DMC the best, although I stitch with all kinds.
Enjoyed watching as usual. The duffle is beautiful. I mostly stitch with DMC but I’m liking the WDW on the spool. 😊
My fav floss is DMC. I began stitching in the 70s and 80s and DMC was pretty much all there was. So big stash of it. Then a friend quit stitching and gifted me all her DMC! So I have a double stash.
I have had my cats
Make a hammock of my quilts as I sewed.
Was just thinking of you yesterday and wondering when I would see you again, and voila. Always enjoy your videos.
When all is said and done I would have to say my favorite is DMC. I have been using it for 45 years and love it. I do use fancy floss and have a large collection of it but DMC usually wins out. You can't beat the price and the range of colors to choose from. :)
I love me some Sulky.
I hope Jenna has an amazing college experience! I like DMC or Gentle Arts.
Love that duffle bag!!! I'll buy supplies also if you make me one! LOL Good luck to your mini Me at collage and happy birthday to your husband/father! Luv ya! Terri
I only stitch with dmc and aida. Prayers for Maui
I worked at the Christmas Tree Shops for 12 years. A new owner closed all 84 stores down in 3 years. He closed other stores form in 2 years. We were a big business before he took over. As you spoke of separation bring sad, I thought of how we are all unemployed, but, most of all miss each other. Yes, we can get together but we won’t be working together daily.
Very very sad feelings. So, I understand your Girl Scout end sadness.
I love stitching with all flosses but my 2 favorites is Belle Soie and Vicki Clayton HDF threads-not that I stitch everything with these. Enjoyed the video! Love your stitching!
I know where Purchase is! I graduated from Manhattanville in the 60’s. I’ve been back for reunions - and it’s such a beautiful area! And it is close to NYC - she’ll have a great time! I have no real preference for threads - I usually use cotton- DMC or overdyed. I use silk occasionally and find that I like NPI better than A ver a soie. Have a great trip to New York! And congratulations on your dedication to Girl Scouting.
When you were talking about single color designs and mentioned that 321 was a beautiful red-I just happened to be stitching with that particular color at that moment and had to laugh. It was like you were looking at me through my IPad. My favorite thread that I just discovered is Cosmo 2500 which is a bright white. The coverage is great and the thread seems to be very nice. BTY if you want to stitch another navy on white design you showed, I’d be happy to put it in my home-lol. Or if you have too many of those little bags, again, I’d be happy to take one off your hand. Seriously, you ladies are just fun to watch. Chris
Having fun and being funny is a compliment for both of you! I smile a lot during your videos. This one was 1:20 long and it flew by. Good luck to you Jenna and have a wonderful year. Your big smile says it all! Your diamond paintings were gorgeous. Great wips and finishes gals. Although I use overdyed floss and I’ve used Sulky once, I still like my DMC’s the best. I get beautiful vibrant colors on my pieces. Safe travels Jen going to New York. 💕
Lovely channel. I love my dmc. Love the price because I need excesses of linen and patterns.
I have a stamped red table cloth I embroidered one wrestling season. Finished the whole thing; one color thread. My bottom still numb from the bleachers. Lol keep it simple for those sports.
I always enjoy your stitching.
Fav is DMC and Weeks
Very best wishes to your daughter/granddaughter! Sooo exciting. Thank you both for your volunteer work with Girl Scouts.❤️
Good luck at college.
I was a girl scout leader for my daughter from Daisy to Seniors, and she got her gold. Also did cubscouts and boy scouts to. The last quilt retreat I went on in the spring, we were to make a tabletop piece. I ran out of time and ended up making it the first couple of days on the retreat. I mostly use DMC for that's what I have, but I do like sulky.
I sew with DMC on Aida.
So fun to be with you two! Your videos are awesome and projects are superb! I have some very small diamond painting bookmarks I’m sending for Jenna. Maybe they will be quick for her to do!
Love you guys!
Thank you so much Karen!
Favorite-hmm. Love the color gradient on gentle arts. Thickness of classic color works. Price of dmc Stitching is like butter w silks. Least favorite is weeks-it is the thinnest of them all. I obviously am not a good student as I didn’t give you one specific answer. 😊. Jen you’ve come to mind lately. I have 4th projects to be framed and 7 smalls to be made into pillows. Normally I FFO things soon after finishing them. Love the fabric for your secret quilt project!
I know exactly where Purchase is! There is a needlepoint shop called Stitch By Stitch in Larchmont, just ten minutes from Harrison. They carry lots of fibers. Sadly there isn’t a cross stitch store that I know of in Westchester county but if you find one let me know.
Carol, I also never change needles unless one breaks. Well deserved ribbon for your beautiful piece Jennifer.
Weeks Dye Works is my favorite fiber.
Your videos alway make me feel good. I love that you have that mother daughter crafting together going on! Very best wishes to Jenna!!! How excited will this next chapter be in her life. Her Diamond painting is AMAZING. HOPEFULLY SHE WILL GET SOME OF THEM FRAMED. BEAUTIFUL KEEPSAKES💕.
I received a Diamond painting project at the last retreat I attended. Can’t wait to give it a try
Your daughter/granddaughter is an absolute doll! Looks just like her mother!
My favorite is dmc.
Thanks for sharing ❤ - best wishes to Jenna ! I love cotton flosses and cannot choose one - I do stitch with DMC, classic color works and Colour and cotton the most !
I don’t have a favorite floss. I use DMC, Weeks Dye Weeks, Gentle Arts & Classic Colorworks the most. I have stitched with silks and love them but don’t have very many colors. Have fun taking Jenna to college! it’s hard to say goodbye but also very exciting!
Make sure when you roll the paintings you finish , roll them with the drills out to avoid losing drills.
I am a DMC girl. Have not used anything else.
Love the stitch house FFO!!😍 I haven’t even ever tried silks (I’m too afraid I will love them and want to use them all the time! And when I first got back to stitching, I said I wouldn’t spend overdyed floss price on all my projects. 😂🤣😂) Overdyed cottons are my favorite - Classic Colorworks are my most favorite because generally speaking I like their colors best😊
Great video!! Princess is beautiful ! I use DMC only been stitching about two years on aida.
You two always have the most beautiful projects. Thank you for sharing them with us ❤
Beautiful duffel bag! Good luck Jenna! Don’t know about any shops near Harrison NY, but if you drive a bit further East, we have Thistle Needleworks in CT. Loved your Girl Scout quilt - great inspiration - I’m not a quilter, but I have a stack of t-shirts my dad has collected over the years with the Boy Scout troop. I’m hoping to make a lap quilt for him. He will be celebrating 55 years in scouting.
I was in Girl Scouts from Brownie to graduation. Such a great organization for young girls
I stitch with DMC the most, but I've gotten to where I like Classic Color works.
Thank you for your help. As Jen said, I will put on my big girl panties and pull it out and start. Thanks When we took our daughter to College my husband and I took aside and gave her some extra spending money at different times. After we left we decided to stop and get something to eat and we discovered that we didn't have any cash. That was before debit cards and I am sure Wendy's didn't take checks, not saying how long ago that was. Thanks again for your help with cork.
Haha, that’s a funny story!
I just started a sewing machine diamond painting and I love it.
Can't wait to see it at show and tell!
What beautiful work Jenna does. Guess it runs in the family. Best of luck to her.
Vicky Clayton silk!
Enjoy your college experience and we know you're going to do great. I think Hobby House Needleworks is in the neighborhood of Purchase College. Patricia
I use DMC on Aida and Lugana-- then I have more money to spend on charts😊
Congratulations on your ribbons!! So many milestones!!! I tend to use over dyed - Weeks, Color & Cotton, Gentle Arts - the most. DMC is fine I just like the shading effect of the over dyed. I use silk as well - MissesSeddus, silks4you, hand dyed by Rholanda- for one color stitching since it can be purchased easily in large hanks & looks great. I’ve also used Roxie FlossCo floss which is also really nice to use.
You have such a nice variety of projects that you share. I love Jen's temperature chart, and my favorite of Carol's is the white on blue Christmas scene.
Best of luck to Jenna for her college journey. Those are such great years.
Enjoy your upcoming retreat!
I always enjoy your videos. When I saw the beautiful, inspiring pieces you made for your girls scouts, I had tears in my eyes. What a beautiful gift they will always have to remember their years in scouting . I’m sure you were a wonderful leader and made such a difference in the lives of these girls. 😍
Jen, I think the National Park on your piece with the mountain goats is Glacier National Park. Loved all the one color pieces. I just finished a new Halloween one by Luminous Fiber Arts stitched in black. I like stitching with all floss. I'd have to say my least favorite is Aurafil. It seems to knot more than others.
I'm a DMC guy. The colors are so vivid, I think it's pretty lustrous, and I feel like I don't have to be so precious with it because it's affordable.
What a great flosstube. I so enjoy seeing your cross stitching and quilts as I do both also. And thanks for sharing your beautiful daughter/granddaughter’s talent with us as well. My favorite brand of floss is probably Classic Colorworks, although I mostly use DMC. And, Jennifer, congratulations on your fair ribbons!
DMC is for me. Mostly for the availability, I do not have an LNS. Good luck dropping off at college, we did it 3 times. We learned to bring a hand truck with us because you never know where you have to park and how many floors you have to go up.
When I dropped my son off at college 14 hours away, I could not talk for 36 hours. When I put my youngest on a plane to India for a year, same thing. We stopped at a quilt shop on the way home from the airport and she asked how much I wanted cut. I choked out the words and she looked at me funny. I choked out Put daughter on plane to India, and she understood. Once you get past those first emotions which could last a day or two, you will be fine. Give yourself grace for whatever reaction your heart will give you in the moment. 😊
Thank you 💗
Loved the daughter showing her diamond painting. Great work! Good luck in college.
Loved seeing your girl baby's diamond paintings! I love to do that as well; it feels like a cousin to cross stitch. The biggest problem with it is the amount of space it takes up.
If I may offer a suggestion, she should roll up with the drills out. Rolling with them on the inside puts pressure on them, and some may pop off. If you roll with them out, it gives the drills more room.
I don't think I have a favorite brand of floss. I'm a "follow the pattern" kinda girl, so I don't do a lot of conversions or swapping out. That also means I've not tried many brands since DMC, GAST, CCW, and WDW are typically used.
Thanks for the tip on rolling the diamond paintings!
Best of luck taking your daughter to college! She will do great! I can see it in her personality. Not to be argumentative but, there are live red crabs on Christmas Island which is a territory of Australia. There’s even a cross stitch graph of them called “Christmas Claws” by the Salty Stitcher.
Oh wow, I didn’t know that - now it will be my Australian crab dance!
Good Luck to Jenna. My daughter's best friend is a graduate of Purchase, along with a few of her dance friends. I also think a friend's daughter is starting Purchase this year in the dance program. So I know where Purchase is.
Oh how neat!
I've been thinking about doing a temperature chart, however, I would use the 'Feels Like' temperature because it can get quite muggy here in Minnesota.
