We were just in York. Its our favorite place in England so far. Such a gorgeous place. There are so many great free tours offered in York. Be sure if you go there to take a tour to appreciate the city and its history.

Very nice. It's interesting that all the largest viking get-togethers are outside of Scandinavia. We don't really have anything like that here in Sweden... I think. We have the "gotland medieval week" in the summer, but that's portrays a few hundred years after the viking age. We do have a very nice viking restaurant though in Stockholm called Aifur and there's of course the viking island of Birka.
You guys really captured it! Excellent work shooting, editing, and, of course, beer drinking! Lots of fun to watch this episode!

Ahhhhh, York, my old haunting ground, I lived there for a year and worked there doing a live gig once a week at big nightclub there called The Gallery, when it still existed. In fact, the radio station i was on was called Viking :-)

You guys should check out what we call the west country here, Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset, go in the summer really is beautiful and has lots of history like the north.

We were in York in December,, amazing ole English town. There was a fantastic gastropub pub there " the house of trembling maddness" awesome brews and grub !!

the Northern accent is different because we're more rough around the edges than the south, less soft; and we take pride in that!
I learned a few things about the Vikings in the last months during a Germanic Philology course at Uni, where we studied Old Norse - the Vikings' language. It's striking and it was very surprising for me to find out how much Norse influenced the English language and therefore the culture!

+Akeem Lawanson we had some delicious ales, all of them viking themed. Can't remember the names of the top of our heads but I'm pretty sure there is a shot of the beer in the pub scene, says the name of the ale and brewery. It was something Nordic themed.

Ugh! People seem to forget that Saxon warriors fought with swords called the Saex and spears were only really used by the lower classes of men. Also it was the Saxons who invented the sheildwall. Hardly any reenactors use the Saex anymore! I think a lot of that is over-empethsis on the spear which is stressed by scholars who can't tell the difference between a Celtic warrior and a Germanic one.

As a joke I used to say my partner was a Viking from his appearance ( we are British) so he did a DNA test. He is over a third Scandinavian. We modern British are a real mix of peoples.
