Bro Alycia through less and landed more at a higher %. Alycia literally landed double the power punches(The more noticeable more damaging punches). Mayer had a steady jab and solid pressure but other than that Alycia outboxed her and landed the more significant shots. Was counter punching nicely, moving well etc. Watching live I had it 7-3 Baum giving her rounds 1-3 and 7-10, then I rewatched it and still have Baum winning 6-4 giving her rounds 1-3,7,8,10. Honestly the judge who saw 97-93 Mayer needs to be checked🫣. Well deserved win from Baumgardner!!!

This was a really good fight. And I agree, going into 10, Mayer had to win the tenth for a draw in my eyes. I too scored, 1-3, 7, 8, 10 for Baumgardner. It was even through 6 but it changed in a major way after that. I would love to see a rematch between these two. I hope it happens.
AB was mostly circling and was the one getting backed up…most of AB’s punches were lesser effective as a result…mostly pot shots..it was a bad decision. I wouldn’t have had a problem with a draw, but AB didnt do enough to win it.

Watched it live. Great atmosphere. Well done to both warriors! From row L, I thought Meyer's jab was effective and Baumgardner seemed a little tentative in breaking it down. Meyer's height, flicking jab and bright colours may have swayed the crowd as she seemed busier but looking closer from my home screen, I can see why Baumgardner was favoured. Jabs are nice but power, excites. Baumgardenr was def more powerful. Beat up faces don't lie. A draw, although not great, could have also been possible. Very close. A rematch would be good but sometimes its best to take the belts n run...
Baumgardner landed the "cleaner effective" punches and according to boxing rules the winner is chosen based upon that, Mayer landed but lacked the effective and decisive contact. She lost!
Boxing rules are not based exclusively off that, fights are scored round by round and on clean punching, effective aggression, ring generalship and defence. Mayer dictated the pace of the fight, had a higher work rate, constantly measured with the jab and controlled the distance. Baumgardner just waited and tried to catch MM with a big punch, constantly telegraphing the right hand. Baumgardner had the occasional eye catching flurry but fights are scored round by round and MM took over after the 3rd, accumulating points, with AB maybe winning some of the championship rounds. The closest you could score it was 96-94 to Mayer, but more realistically it was 7 rounds to 3 in her favour. Competitive but clear decision.

Exactly! This fight is not even a robbery but a close fight. Even the Taylor Serrano fight was closer than this but Amanda just accepted that she lost the decision and didn't moan.
Yeah mayers kinda let those first 3 rounds go. Baumgardner capitalized off the first 3 rounds. I scored it 6-4 Baumgardner. And mayers faced looks like she was in a fight. Baumgardners face didn't have any real blemishes.
Tough good fight. I thought Mayer nicked it by a round. Could've been a draw at the worst. I think in some rounds Baumgardner outhustled Mayer. Kinda reminds of Mosley/Delahoya 1. Mosley looser and sharper but Delahoya more precise with good basic technique. Difference was in footwork - Baumgardner moves just that little bit better to give her better angles. I liked Mayers solid work in the middle rounds. Straight jab, feint , long right hand and finish off with the hook. Mayer usually throws more body punches. She also took her foot off the gas pedal in the last round. That cost her. I'll say this - these girls can fight! I'll pony up the $$ to watch them any day. Great TV too - great looking and great for women's boxing. Loved it!
Sad to say but after watching that fight, Alycia had a better posture and swinging technique, you did good but overall Alycias performance was outstanding

@@alalston4252 The way she answered in the immediate aftermath, it sounded like she was never going to fight Mayer again. However I did see another article somewhere yesterday saying that she thinks her and Mayer will meet somewhere again down the line maybe at 135lbs. I guess it's true though that if the decision had gone the other way Mayer would've gone for undisputed too. TBH I thought the Hamadouche fight was closer than the scorecards had it & Hamadouche deserved a rematch.

96-95 made sense. Alycia is very skillful and fast so next time Mayer will have to start better and then I feel she could've gone for it more in the 10th. Let's hope we get the rematch at some point.

I thought this match would be the fight of the night due to the animosity and tension but it didn’t really reach the expectations.
Ab boxed MUCH better than I had expected. I’m many ways she looked more seasoned than Meyer. My prediction was Meyer on points. Ab won the fight but 2-3 rounds.
Meyer needs to accept the loss otherwise she won’t learn from it. IMO she was tentative the whole fight, like she was cautious of an power she felt.

Great fight they made a fan out of me now I know there names and these women plus the Shields fight has me excited about the future of women's boxing my 5 year old daughter asked if she can box now, that's a negative or no but when she gets older if she still desires to box I will support her. Sustainability is crucial and this momentum shouldn't be squandered.

AB landed some eye catching shots but Mayer outboxed her for long periods throughout and I think she deserved the decision.
Mayer won by 1-2 rounds. Very close fight but Mayer nicked it. Alicia landed the harder and cleaner shots but landing 3-4 clean punches per round doesn't deserve you a win when your face is jabbed off and hit with straight rights.
This fight could have gone either way. Mayer did not look like her normal self. Was Mayer off this night or was it Baumgardner being a step up in talent........

Looking at Mayer's face vs Baumgardner its clear that fight wasn't a draw.
I want to be gracious in knowing that fighters are emotionally charged after a fight. Also that they may feel differently in the ring vs observing it from outside. But this just seemed a little classless. I felt AB won clearly. While Marshall in the main event was in a closer fight was classy in her loss.
I do hope that AB and MM rematch. It was a close enough fight even though I favored AB cleaner punches

I was rooting for AB, but I completely disagree with you. This fighter was closer than Shields vs Marshall. AB won this fight clearly enough tho. This girl is just bitter and entitlement, I saw it through the whole build up.
@@tokelopitso1700 what I mean is this. Shields got tired and loss some pretty clear rounds. I would even say that Marshall dominated those mid/late rounds with Shields on the ropes. But even still Shields won the clear majority IMHO. I never felt like Mayer dominated rounds. Maybe 1, maybe. Won? Yes. But dominated? Not close to the point where she should be this indignant. It does come across as entitlement
@@ApologistInDetroit in scoring, even if you dominate a round, you're getting 10-9 scores without a KD. Shields did gas, but still controlled most of the exchanges despite being on the ropes. AB didn't separate herself clearly or dominate and one judge even thought MM edged it and I agree with all 3 cards.
The Marshall fight was not closer. The Mayer fight actually was closer.

This is not a situation where the judges scored it wrong or where Mayer could not have potentially won the fight if she had fought the later rounds differently. Her corner convinced her she was way ahead. So she went into those final rounds to avoid being knocked out instead of trying to win the rounds... after having given up the first three rounds. That's five rounds given up and at least one toss up round between 4 and 8. That's on her corner and her for deciding she had it in the bag and could coast. Everyone saying the commentators were saying Mayer won, during the final round they were saying both fighters needed to try to win the round because it was too close. And Mayer was the one smiling like she already won.
