    I never drove this series but my 79yr old mom in the UK still drives a 100% original 2001 WRX with approx 70,000 miles on it, FSH etc. She's 80 this year and we're flying over from Aus in July to give it a decent run again, (and of course to celebrate her Birthday too I suppose). Last time was a road trip through Scotland in 2019 with a very memorable run across Skye for a ferry.... Sadly she only drives about 500/1000 miles per year now but then again we're considering moving back to the UK in a couple of years so you never know where it might end up?

      Keeping them well undersealed is a must. I don't use my car when there's salt on the road.
      They also depending on the car usually are in as new condition, my 21 Crown is an example, you can eat your dinner off the underside. Their Shakken test means their vehicles are held to a higher standard than ours

    I'll never forget when I took my eldest a driving experience soon after he passed his test. It included a 'hot lap' which was in an Impreza driven by a professional. I was offered a seat in the back along with my younger boy, which we gladly took. Hammering round the course and into the bends I thought we were going to crash! The seat belt was the only thing keeping me from being thrown abound, how that car stayed on the track I'll never know! Afterwards my legs felt like rubber....

    I actually had the pleasure of filming a few weeks ago at a Subaru themed cars and coffee event at The Motorist. Sadly no two door versions though there were a few MK1 cars including a JDM STI.
    The wide bodied 22b are said to change hands fir serious money these days.

    That looks like fantastic fun. I had had one, it wouldn't get used all that often, but each time it came out it would most definitely be used illicitly. Far cry from the 83 Subaru GL hardtop I drove part of high school. Had a washing machine motor, with about has much horsepower with the vaguest 5 speed I've ever driven. (Give credit though, I taught myself stick on that car with no instruction and it was reasonably forgiving)

    Gotta love these scoobies, driving the classic is so more raw than the newage impreza. I imported my type R v5 limited 2 years ago before the boom in prices. These are the closest car you're going to get to a 22b without the £200,000 price tag.. I would have a fresh imported type R over the p1 as British weather and salty roads have taken its toll on majority of them.

Me,,,i have not tried it..but if the original ground system on a car is in perfect condition...there is no need for an additional ground.Though the japanese cars may suffer from poor ground systemst from car to car.Eitherway ..thanx for lovely video ;) You are welcome to nerd out to my channel aswell.Though not as varied,as i only do videos of my cars.Greetings from Norway ,Stefan :)And oh...A Norwegian flag sticker on the driverside rear window :)

      @TassieLorenzo Před 2 lety +2

      22B is the rarest, it is a modified version of this STi Type R with bespoke bodywork and of course the 2.2L stoker engine (the suspension and brakes are actually identical though, the wider track of the 22B compared to the STi Type R is just done via the offset of the wheels). Matt didn't mention it, but these STi Type R (and 22B as well as Type RA four doors) have not just the electronic centre differential & intercooler water spray which he mentioned but also a 13:1 quick ratio steering rack which you didn't get on normal Impreza WRXs. Prodrive P1 is not all that rare AFAIK.

    Don't knock the beetle, Emile Porsche worked for VW before setting up on his own and apart from the bodyshell raided the VW parts bin for his first car.
    Impreza's rare, thank the boy racers who've stuffed them in the past and those seized by the Police and found the road to the crusher as had little value then.

      @@furiousdriving the earthing kit definitely isn’t standard, it’s a very popular modification in Japan so a previous owner probably fitted it.
