The story behind the song is that from ancient China and of a beautiful Chinese girl, Lian -Hua or Lotus Blossom who at 12 summers, was kidnapped by another clan. It was the Chinese ambassadors son, Chin Win who was much older and first lay eyes on her while she traveled with her family to his lands in the east to trade. Lian’s father, Cho, a musician and instrument maker had traveled there to sell the flutes and ruans he crafted, in the Great Emperors court.
Upon her return home, Chin ordered a faction of the Great Emperors army to escort Lian -Hua and her family back to their lands in the west. As honored as Lian's family was for the kind gesture, little did they know Chin's real motive. By sunrise Lian had vanished and was nowhere in sight. Under the cover of night a few of Chin’s men gagged and tied her and rode away eastward.
For days her family searched and mourned for Lian -Hua with the help of Chin's men, who only pretended to help as they knew all too well of her disappearance. Not fully knowing what happened to Lian -Hua, they feared she was dead and with that, many years passed. In those years, Lian -Hua had grown more beautiful than when she first arrived to the house of Chin.
Chin tried for many years to win the love of Lian -Hua, but knowing of her abduction, she rejected him and thought only of her family and the lands to the west she so desperately missed. Chin grew frustrated with Lian -Hua and imprisoned her as punishment. Chin so loved Lian -Hua but her affection he could not have. As such, he became embittered and drank heavily and with Lian -Hua being held captive, he visited her one night, drunk and furious.
"I bring you to this land in the hopes of making a better life for you and making you my wife and yet -you are ungrateful!" Chin said furiously while reaching for his knife as if to strike her. Lian -Hua, chained to the ground below slowly looked up at Chin. Her beautiful face radiated with the light of the fool moon shining through the window.
-“Wait!” Lian cried.
-“Know now that I came here captured by your will. My home, my family is beyond the mountains to the west, not here with you, yet you imprison me like a caged bird that I may someday love you.” Chin raised his head higher still holding his knife as Lian -Hua went on.
-“It is you Chin, who is a prisoner among yourself. For as long as I am held here, I will never love you…never.” Tears swelled her eyes. It was these very words that Lian -Hua spoke that further enraged Chin.
“Then if you can never love me, no one ever will!” With that, Chin took his knife and cut the right side of Lian’s beautiful face. A struggle ensued as Chin tried to have his way with Lian -Hua. She tried desperately to fight him off -only to feel the blade of his knife strike her in the chest. In her struggle, Lian -Hua let out a gasp and slowly fell to the ground.
That same night Lian -Hua’s mother Mei awoke from a dream she had. In her dream she heard Lian -Hua call to her and felt she was near. Mei rose and went outside and looked around calling to her daughter.
“Lian -Hua, Lian -Hua, where are you?” She cried running, looking. “I am here my beautiful daughter, I am here.” The old woman cried. Now exhausted she fell to her knees weeping. Then realizing it was just a dream, she looked up to the heavens and prayed to the spirits for acting foolish. To her amazement, Mei noticed a shooting star flying westward leaving a slight glimmering trail that slowly dissipated in the sky above her. In old China, this is known as “A Trail of Angels.” Somehow Lian -Hua’s mother knew that her daughter had returned to her that night but was now in the spirit world. Revealing this dream to Cho the next day, Cho picked up a flute and played this very song to the memory of Lian -Hua, a lotus that forever blossoms.

If everyone just keeps that thought in the back of their mind, then even our kids would be able to see the unsoiled beauty of our nature. One of the most beautiful things, besides nature in itself, is see the touch of humanity in the landscape. A few years ago, I was walking through untouched jungle, for hours I saw nothing but unspoiled nature, wilderness growing all around me, but the moment I felt at easy with the wilderness around me, I came upon a great cliff that split the jungle in two, only bound by a bridge engraved with beautiful pictures carved into the wood. I felt truly spellbound by the experience, the moist air, the dampness of the fog that surrounded this place left me breathless.

Travel while you're young, don't get caught by society's pressure for materialistic riches, they will only give you a false taste of life. I've been alive for quite a while now, and I've lived many days striving for the best society had to offer me, as those days vanished into the past, I kept pouring my time, my life, into these things. Now that I look back, none of my earthly possessions gave me anything that rivaled the value of the time, the life, I spend gathering them. I'm not trying to suggest that you turn away from society, that would be unreasonable. It's our duty as humans to become the best we can, for ourselves, and those people that live their lives in our presence. Work hard on your education, but don't solely do it with your own goals in mind, instead, work hard for others so that your flame illuminates the distance between your soul, and another's. I hope you take my words to heart, and learns from the mistakes that I committed, however, in short, I wish you to live your life according to your own heart.

It will be tough traveling while young without the necessary funds. So, I think studying is essential but, so is experience. Thanks a lot for your perspective. You're right, in the end all earthly possessions are of no use unless meant for someone, or by someone. I used to follow groups but now, I love to wander off on my own and see the world I want to see and not the society. I learnt about materialistic richness at a pretty young age, thanks to my father. I'm lucky I had a great role model to learn from him and his mistakes. So much has happened in my life and that's made me who I am, both good and bad. Although my life isn't that great, there are millions who wish they had the same. So, I do what I do for those who can't, the unfortunate and disabled. Everyone has their own life stories and no one should compare themselves. There's a saying, if you can be truly happy alone, you can be happy with anyone. Having self-awareness and being really comfortable with who you are. Something so simple, it will make you and your life better. I don't consider myself as an introvert because, I can speak if I want to but, just not a fan of the pointless drama people create. Also being manipulated by someone else, I would never want to experience that. I tend to work harder for someone else and I feel much happier in the end. I still have a long way to go in life and I hope I meet more people like you along the way. I will keep what you said in mind. In ancient China, a beautiful girl named Lian-Hua, or Lotus Blossom, was kidnapped at 12 summers by an older boy named Chin Win, the Chinese high ambassadors son. Lians father, Cho, had traveled with her east to trade his bamboo flutes in the Emperors court. Infatuated with her beauty, Chin began hatching a plan to kidnap her from the moment he saw her.
In a clever ruse, the ambassador's son ordered that Lians family be escorted back to their home in the west by a contingent of the Emperors army. Unable to refuse such a generous and kind offer, her father accepted. This was a great honor for Lian's family, but little did they know the dubious nature of the gesture. Under the cover of darkness, the soldiers had Lian gagged, bound, and dragged off back East to court and when the family awoke the next day she was nowhere to be found. The other soldiers pretended to search the countryside for many days, hiding the knowledge of the kidnapping the whole time.
Her family, not knowing if she was dead or alive, mourned the loss of their daughter for years after the incident. For her part, Lian-Hua had only grown more beautiful in this time since arriving at the house of Chin.
Chin had continuously tried to win Lian's affection with luxuries and gifts, but being aware of her abduction she continuously rejected him, thinking only of her family and lands to the West that she so desperately missed. Chin became frustrated with Lian Hua and had her imprisoned as punishment. He may truly have indeed loved her, but her affection was something he could not have. As such, he became embittered and took to drinking heavily.
One night, he visted her dungeon drunk and furious with a knife drawn. "YOU UNGRATEFUL WRETCH. I have brought you here to give you a better life! To make you a noble in marriage!".
Chained to the wall, Lian gently raised her beautiful face so that it shone in the faint light of the moon. "You have brought me here against my will and taken me from my family. You have caged me like a bird so that I may someday love you. It is YOU who are a prisoner of your own delusions. For as long as I remain here, I shall never love you."
This enraged Chin. "Then if I cannot love you, nobody shall!" He yelled before slicing her cheek with his daggar and forcing himself upon her. Lian Hua fought him off defiantly in a final rejection...eventually feeling the daggar plunge into her chest. She let out a gasp before slumping to the floor, freed from her chains by death.
That same night, Lian's mother, Mei, awoke from a dream where she could hear her daughter calling out to her and feel her daughter near. She arose and ran outside, calling into the night, "Lian Hua! Lian Hua! Im here my precious girl!". The old woman wept as she fell to her knees. She lifted her head to face the night sky so she could pray to the ancestors for strength but to her surprise, she saw a glimmering shooting star steaking across the sky from East to West.
In old China, this was known as a "trail of angels". In this moment, Mei knew her daughter had finally returned to her that night but was now entering the realm of spirits and ancestors. Upon telling her husband this, Cho picked up one of his flutes and played this very song in memory of his daughter Lian Hua- the lotus that forever blossoms.

One day in Spain I met a Chinese grandpa. He plays the instrument erhu and that was so emotional for me that I gave him money and he was so happy about it. That really made me very happy that a person is so peaceful. He got up and he asks me if I want to play, but I said no, I do not know why I said no, but I'm so sad that I said no. He inspired me to get to know the cultures of another country. I love it, it's a really relaxing song.

i am literally crying rn. and i can't stop. i feel so sad, remembering everything that happened this 2020. i even suddenly remembered those happy memories i had with my grandma when she was still alive, she was the best, she was always with me everytime i had problems and had to talk to someone. she was my bestfriend. i miss her so much. i had regrets, i should've been there when she was in her last moments. but i had to let her go when she rested last august 18, 7:32 am. i miss you lola, i love you so much.

I've been listening to this for almost 2 years now. I'll never ever forget this music, it was my bestfriend throughout those sleepless nights during my hardest days.
Last year was the worst year of my life. A friend left me and I realized she was only using me for grades and then I had a bestfriend who had to go through mental illness and watching her is really torturing coz you can only watch her. I was blaming myself coz I was there with her all the time yet she still got a disorder which saddened me even more.
My mother was scolding me all the time coz I coulnd't cope up in school. My mother is a perfectionist, she always say do this, do that and always compare me to others like "why can't you be like her?!" "why can't you do it?!". For years, that happened which made me believed that I wasn't worth any. That led me into depression coz I believed I didn't have anyone to talk to.
I always had suicidal thoughts coming every now and then so I had to do something to distract me from actually doing it. I've attempted suicide twice and looking back now, that was a stupid move. I've always had trouble sleeping at night then I stumbled upon some sleep music but this was the only sleep music that I loved and will always love.
There's just something about the melody that makes you at peace yet leaves you questioning about life. That makes you go back to the past. That makes you restart all over again.
Thinking back now for my actions, I just laugh it off. I sometimes wonder, why the hell did I even cut myself? I sometimes recall those days and asked about how it felt but It doesn't feel any. I was walking numb through the corridors. It actually give me chills how much I changed as a person.
Yes, this helped me with my depression but someone else also helped me. But I am still thankful for the uploader for uploading this music. Thank you.

ps im crying right now my one friend is in the hospitable and my grandfather is losing his memory. also im losing my mind over my friends. I lost almost all my friends because my grade only go's up to 6th grade and the new school that i am at is ripping all of my friends away, and the saddest thing i am going through is my bestfriend isn't returning my text or calls he keeps denineing he even knows me. it gets to the point I don't want to live at all what do i do.
