Hey boss, I saw your removed the dowel pin from the trans. Did you have to also remove the 2 dowel pins on the 2gr block?

I still had 2 dowl pins in the block. IDK if you have seen this video where I finished the mounting of this trans. czcams.com/video/BFSi0ATsBh0/video.htmlsi=KbqrHPVlTXSkKKfc

Thank you for the followup. I remember watching that video when you published but will go back again and see.

Nice fab work on the motor mount! Also great idea to tap the engine block hole with 1/2" instead of drilling out and helicoiling. Much simpler approach. And if anybody ever wants to swap out the odd bolt in the future, then can just drill it out later.
When you get towards axles, are you planning on using the OEM MR2 S54 right-side axle or swapping to the MR-S gen3 2000-2002 axle with the bearing thingy pressed onto the axle? I think it would be great to do the upgrade to the MR-S style axle which has readily available replacements, is stronger, and is equal length to the left-side for less "torque steer". The only catch with this approach would be the bearing carrier. I don't think the Celica 1998 bearing , MR-S style, nor the MR2/E153 carrier will fit (different size bearing OD and ID). But given your fab work on the motor mount, I bet you could fab something up!
Have you fitted the MR-S limited slip differential into the S54? Or changed the gearing to the Camry S51 gears? I reckon both would be better suited to the 2GR power and is something I would like to do if/when I do my swap.

Plan for now is to use the stock axles if possible. And leave the open diff for now. I have spent way more money that I was planning, so I'm just wanting to finish it and get it going for now. There are much bigger plans for the future. On is a long travel suspension, which might require some longer axles

Great video and thanks for the 1/2 hole drill idea! What have you done to mount the s54 right axle? Or did you end up taking a different route?

I just used the stock S54 axles. They bolted right in.

I was worried about the clearance with the axle carrier bearing. Thanks

@@puppet015 S54 axles don't have a carrier bearing. I ended up blowing up the S54 in the dunes, but to be fair I just hammer the car until something breaks most of the time. And that turned out to be the weakest link. Went with e153 after that

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll see what I can do with the s54. Looking for street use only.

What flywheel and clutch did you use?

I have the Fidanza Aluminum flywheel. I need to look and see what clutch I ended up using.

This is the clutch install video. I ended up switching the the ACT 6 pick clutch in a later video after I blew up the S54 and switched to an E153
