Best Buy bundles free steelbooks for video games for certain preorders. However after the preorder window closes they end up selling the steelbooks separately. Hence the reason you got the steelbook and nothing else lol. It shouldn’t have been in movie section though.

I love the steelbooks Best Buy has for their video games, they make for excellent pre-order incentives since they are free with the order. I've got the Kobe 2k21 steel, Avengers, Cyberpunk, Prey, among others and they are usually amazing. But for some reason they give you the regular copy of the game in its standard case *and* a copy of the empty steelbook when you order online or pick-ip in the store. So that explains why they had excess inventory of the steelbooks available, I really wish they'd just have an inventory of games already in the steelbook. Regardless, it should not have been that expensive nor on the shelf where it was located. It should have been with the video games next to NBA 2K21 and marked for much cheaper, as the video game steelbooks have a retail value of 20 dollars. Sorry you had that whole experience, it was on Best Buy for poorly advertising what that was or where it should be located.

So the deal with that Kobe steelbook was that sometimes best buy has exclusive video game steelbooks they as extras, they're usually 10 bucks but don't have the game included, it's just if you wanted a steelbook instead for the copy you already own. I guess because a lot of the time when you get collector editions of games that have a steelbook they still have the regular case too so you get to pick. It's weird. The Doom Eternal steelbook is cool tho.

The Halloween (1978) steelbook from Best Buy got Re issued today. The one with the PET slip that came out a month or so ago. Of the 2 stores by me, I checked online and 1 did not get any, the other had 2. But when I went, they were nowhere t be found. Had to ask, they were in back. Did not stock them.
