Nice! Thanks for sharing
Looks like this is the best Homekit camera.
Check out G3H too - it's pretty cool
How do they work with the Zigbee hub and multiple cameras? Usually Zigbee can only have one co-ordinator per mesh network.
Also, are you sure this does not have a cloud storage? I think Paul Hibbert reviewed this recently and noted he found a free cloud storage on a different TAB on the app when he removed the SD Card. Is this something available more with the Homekit / iCloud integration or is this something provided by Aqara but maybe not implemented when you reviewed it?
Apparently it integrates with homekit plans. I'm not an apple person so I'm not sure how this works precisely but no cloud options to subscribe at the time of the release. I removed the sc dard on mine but I didn't see anything where I could subscribe.
You bind devices in aqara directly to specific devices which they integrate into cloud ecosystem. So you end up with nicely distributed ZigBee network if your subdevices are added to corresponding cameras
Good video. You say no cloud storage, however the video doesnât mention that this camera is apple HomeKit compatible. For many people their icloud plan will include free storage for such a a camera at no additional cost, this and its integration into the apple HomeKit app are two of its biggest appeals to me
Sadly I never used the homekit so I wasn't being aware if this. Thanks for the insight
Hi! Thank you for the video! Can you disable the 'hub' feature? I use home assistant and node-red and have linked all my Zigbee devices to a ConBee II-stick. Can I add my camera like a Zigbee device? Or do I need another method?
There is no "disable" option but it's only in pairing mode when you are actively adding devices so it shouldn't cause much havoc. I used my ZigBee network while playing with the camera and I haven't noticed anything out of ordinary during that time . Just bear in mind the camera works as coordinator so you can't add it to your conbee based network
When you add child devices, the app asks you what hub do you want to connect it to, so just pick the hub you want.
I'm trying to upload recordings to my NAS (Qnap). One or two files 1 minute long are saved on the NAS and that's it. Nothing else can be transferred to the NAS although saving to the SD card still works. When you stop recording and restart, only one short file is transferred to the NAS. Does anyone have an idea why this isn't working properly?
How long did you leave it on? Maybe there are some transfer limits for example when csmera is in use and detects movement.. I don't have an answer I'm just guessing
Nice review! You mention human detection, how do you setup that? I couldn't see it anywhere in the settings menus.
Hey, I might have overstated this, looking back a the options I can't see this either. I check multiple cameras I own when going through the review process and probably looked at another one and associated the feature with this camera by mistake. I'm sorry about it
@@notenoughtech No reason to apologize :) It's a shame though that the g2h pro doesn't have that option. I would love to bd able to get a notification on movement, only if there's a person in the view. Maybe the g3h can do that, i'll have to check that one out.
Still. I'm glad I get corrected as I like to be factual with things :)
Human detection works in HomeKit.
Can you explain how to connect I to a NS panel please ?! (I donât find the RTSP address. Where can we find it ? Or is it and other solution to see my camera on the NS panel ? )
It's not using RSTP, the only option to share it is via cloud skill or to sync up card storage with nas
too bad ! But how to do that?
When card is inserted you have options to add your nas
Hello. Can you add the camera directly to HomeKit without using Aqara app? Thanks
Unfortunately I'm not sure as I never used HomeKit myself.
Can one add a Zigbee 3.0 smart LED light or only Aqara products?
Adding 3rd party can be hit or miss. If you want to mix ecosystems I'd suggest custom coordinator like zzh Sonoff dongle or zigstar
I would be very interested in the Nas settings section. Where can I get detailed information?
The settings for nas are bare. Just a network path to mirror files over to.
â @@notenoughtech thanks great video. I would like more information too. Specifically if you use NAS Drive and SD card can you delete any days or hours not required from NAS and permanently store the recordings and that way leave the SD recording 24hrs a day and that way up to NAS and delete whatâs not required? Thanks for your insights.
Can the IR lights be turned off? Thanks.
Yes
Hmm, I get motion detection notifications showing in the app but I dont get an audible alert to the phone, is there a setting for this that I have missed? Thanks.
Is it just sound? There is a option for push notifications in the app to get that enabled. Notifications sounds are usually managed by your OS.
Yes its just sound that is not working. I can see motion detection notices in the app and I have notifications enabled for the app in my OS settings but I just dont get a notification sound when motion is detected.
Are you on Android or iOS?
@@notenoughtech I am on Android.
Can you long press the notification and see if "allowed playing sounds" is selected?
Would it work with true nas?
Internet says that trueNAS support 1.0 as well. Not sure if that's a config setting but according to the post I read it should be fine.
What about RTSP? That is typically the missing link when it comes to Xiaomi/Aqara cameras
For now only NAS mirror
No offense, but itâs just weird not to mention HomeKit just because youâre not âan apple personâ. This review is for other people, not for you, right?
None taken. But you wouldn't expect me to buy the whole apple system just to give it a go? I'm sure there is someone with apple ecosystem that did their take on the camera. As much as I would like to, makes no financial sense to buy a phone or a speaker just so do that for this product.
@@notenoughtech okay, so the review is just for you and other ânon-apple peopleâ? Still worth mentioning that, donât you think? HomeKit compatibility is printed on the packaging in large print. Kinda noticeable. The public donât have to be aware of your your personal preferences, youâre a tech reviewer. So Iâm planning on using the camera in my HomeKit setup, so I just wasted my time watching your video with zero useful information for me. It would be a good idea to mention that youâre in a ânon-apple cultâ in the beginning, wouldâve saved me a few minutes of my life. Again, no offense, it was your choice to make public tech reviews, those are the opinions.
