    Just got done building a sm465. Using the Novak kit adapting to a dana 20 everything went fine I followed your videos step by step. Thanks for a well put together video series very helpful. Anyone attempting doing a rebuild I suggest you have a press or access to one. I have a small 12 ton press worked great. Thanks again.

    Hey Brian, I’m new to watching your channel but just wanted to say that I can’t thank you enough for the work and detail you put into your videos. These videos help and save guys/gals like me all kinds of time and from making serious mistakes that would ruin and halt project progress. So again I thank you for your wisdom and making these videos! Keep up the great work and looking forward to learning all I can from you. Cheers from Canada!!

    I used 2 screw drivers and pried the front counter shaft bearing off. 77 chevy C10. It came off relatively easy. Regardless great set of videos, very helpful, thanks for making them.

    Great video as always. Cool you have those Kent moore tools. I tried to get the thrust yoke tool for the Warner 3 speeds like the t 14 a. I called who made the tool but no luck. Can't remember if it was Kent moore. Would be nice to find a retiring trans guy. The only guy I know now is still going.

      When you can't find the tool you need best to make it yourself. I have many transmission tools that are home made and work great.

    Is there any difference in the input shafts between the 2x4 and 4x4 sm465 transmission as I have a 4x4 with a worn input shaft and some parts 2x4 transmissions?

  • @prospector7777
    @prospector7777 Před 2 lety

    Had a leak via the front seal and screwed the clutch. At least I learned again the seals suck. Not taking the top off and gonna feel for the flot spot to pull the input shaft. Mine seems a tad loose.

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  Před 2 lety

      you have to drop the cluster gear to the bottom of the case to remove the input shaft. If the seal is bad just pull the front bearing retainer cover and change to a new seal and you should be fine.

    • @prospector7777
      @prospector7777 Před 2 lety

      @@metalshaperJeep unsatisfied from last clutch and seal job . Not many miles and blew that clutch on a long haul , thanks to the seal blowing almost asap. The bearing is sloppy. I was overloaded too much. the pilot bushing must have got hot too as the bushing started to disintegrate. I should have stopped and adjusted the clutch fork as the wear increased possibly from that too. Most slippage was the oil . I only use the truck to move almost every year because of our crappy , stupid world. Then I have to fix it all the time. Very pissed that it is made to wear out, just like everything else.

    Is it possible to install the 465 in my 62 4 cyl cj 5 ?

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  Před 6 měsíci

      Anything is possible. You will need an adapter to attach to your engine. then an adapter to attach the dana 18 transfer case. Driveshafts will need to be lengthened in the front, shortened in the rear. You will have a very short driveshaft in the back. Your clutch linkage will need to be modified and a variety of other things will need to be addressed. Mounting, floor modifications, etc.... Make sure you are up to the task before you start, a lot of people start swaps like this and never finish.
