Just made the same Home Depot purchase....thanks much for taking the time to do this....I'm convinced this whacker will be perfect for my small yard. And seeing how simple it is to assemble makes me embarrassed I had to CZcams it! HAAA!
You are very good with directions. Thank You! My husband died and I am elderly but I have to learn how to do all of these things now like weed wacking. I bought the 3 replacement cartridges and I was wondering if you had a video putting those in. I just know I would still do it wrong no matter how simple it might be. Maybe there is a video and I missed it.
Hi Debra. Sorry to hear about your husband. May he RIP. I didn't make a how to video so I'll direct you to this CZcams video: czcams.com/video/-D_SmGB352M/video.html&ab_channel=JohnDufresne
Life saver, thank you! Couldn’t figure out how to set up by the diagrams alone. I can’t believe they didn’t have a video with instructions on the Home Depot website. You should be getting paid for this video in all honesty.
Hey Pablo, every time you release trigger the line is extended a quarter inch. The feed is controlled either manually or by releasing trigger. I suggest trigger on until done walking the weeds, otherwise string replacement will be soon. I removed the guard and never take my finger from trigger til entire yard is complete, hope this helps money wise. You know they made it with revenue in mind,
This worked well for me this season. I love how it feels and is long enough to not hurt my back. Only downside is since this video, HD increased the price $20. It’s now $49. Thanks for the video!
These weed wackers are made to get the areas the lawnmowers can’t get not made to cut knee high grass! Only issue I have with this trimmer is that it’s kinda short it needs to extend for taller people like me
Good music for this would be guns and roses “welcome to the jungle” By brother in law has one like this , he hates it because of the line breaks too fast and too difficult to re-string. He ended up now with a gas one m2500 ( hyper tough) that edgers better and line doesn’t break as fast Since it’s 0.080 vs 0.065 And s bump feed system What ever works for u. I used a corded black and decker for 15 years like that one before moving to gas
Great review! I just wish you had shown a video of your yard completely done after using it so one can measure the kind of results we can expect from using this particular equipment. Nonetheless Im going to give it a try... Thanks!
Thanks, I used it a year ago and just recently had my fiance put more thread in. The weed eater as a whole looks backwards to me and I kept trying to turn it around by the knobs. Finally I thought I would hope on you tube to see. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hey, love your video! I have the same model for 3 years...and it's great. About the connection, where did you buy the connection cord? With that cilindrical form? Sorry my English 🤭 greetings from México!
thanks. I'm looking for a simple trimmer for my small yard instead of a bulky mower. plus my backyard has large above ground roots so mower won't work. this will get me started until I can invest in a better trimmer
This may be late but I use a 100ft 12 gauge grounded extension cord for mine. It can circle the perimeter of my backyard and out the gate. It has lighted ends. Got at Wal Mart on clearance for $60, retail $95. I have tried some lower gauge extension cords (and they are less expensive and will work just fine) but I always feel safer outside with the 12 gauge. As long as it’s specific as says outdoor extension cord it’ll work. Hope that helps a bit
Thank you so much for this video. I was so confused with their unclear directions. What's the purpose of the blue string thingy on the bottom, i think you called it the line feed? I wasn't sure if it needs to come out so I pulled it a bit on both sides and now its longer on both ends. How do I retract it and what is it called. It didn't show the name in the part section on fig. 2 :( thank you again.
what does the 13" mean? Mine says 15". Also, I don't understand people buying a $30 unit to do anything but a small yard which is what we have. We have 2 patches, one on the left and another on the right and a walkway in the middle (deck) and this has been just perfect for the two of us. We don't let the grass get any higher than I don't know 7 inches? So the machine doesn't have to do a hard job. For a bigger job get something powerful like a gas trimmer.
5:37 I mostly use cordless tools and I brought a Worx TriVac leaf vacuum corded and forgot why I only brought cordless tools. So now that happens to me 100’s of times while using my TriVac. It’s frustrating!
Yes cordless tools are convenient but they don't last as long and needs to be always recharged. As technology gets better, I'm sure they will be longer lasting as time goes by.
You too will be disappointed with this thing. The string it comes with keeps breaking, thus you will have to keep opening the spooler to re-thread. In addition the "automatic" feeder does nothing.
Looks like this unit finally quit on me after 4 heavy duty uses as the weeds were pretty tall. I'm planning on purchasing this electric mower from Home Depot which is on sale: www.homedepot.com/p/Sun-Joe-14-in-12-Amp-Lawn-Mower-Electric-MJ401E/202554772
The reason the line keeps "breaking" is because every time you let off the trigger, it auto-feeds more line and cuts the excess. what a waste! buy a new trimmer
All you do is keep the trigger pressed while you go from spot to spot. Only release the trigger to let more line out. Buy a spool of replacement line, and reload it yourself. This is much cheaper than buying pre-loaded spools.
The blue line on one side of the tool is chewed up almost immediately. Then the blue line is only sticking out on one side. Am I loading it incorrectly?
Much like a printer... they practically give you the unit, but then kill you on ink cartridges. This trimmer is inexpensive, but be prepared to overpay on rapid use replacement line. Avoid this trimmer.
They tell you to trim taller weeds from the top down,I have an older Homelite 15'' auto feed I think it sucks and is a line hog. It's like buying an HP printer the lines cost almost what the printer does. I wish my step son hadn't burned up the 10 year old Craftsman single line unit.
If any one can give me a answer I bought one of these at Home Depot and had it for tow weeks and it burn out it just stop working wtf and I'd not get my money back
Candice Galvan why wouldn't you have gotten your money back? home depot has a 90 day return policy. Take it back, say you paid cash and lost receipt, find SKU # for them if possible(its faster- if its like mine and his the SKU # is 669-580) and see if you can get credit. but will only get credit if you say you bought it within last 90 days.

I hope it works out for you. That is what CZcams is for and why I created this channel. Don't forget to subscribe : )
You're a doll! thank you, I will!
Thanks for watching and good luck
Deenie H. Just got this last week. Got the job done without any problem!
Don't feel bad Deenie. I had to do the same thing

This is great I was trying to find one affordable to help out my mom because her backyard is a mess, I think this will do just fine
thank you your instructions were easy to follow! my biggest problem in re stringing.
Glad it helped and that is why I CZcams
Life saver, thank you! Couldn’t figure out how to set up by the diagrams alone. I can’t believe they didn’t have a video with instructions on the Home Depot website. You should be getting paid for this video in all honesty.
This is one of the reasons why I started my CZcams channel: to help people

I don't like that design
@@Jay_Rule ok, designed for revenue... Remove guard have larger cut zone, never release trigger til done and save spool line, luck with👌
That is just piss poor design as you will have to rest and also untangle the wire. Nobody does a whole yard in one run without stopping.
This worked well for me this season. I love how it feels and is long enough to not hurt my back. Only downside is since this video, HD increased the price $20. It’s now $49. Thanks for the video!
Inflation has been crazy

It was quite a bit of work but it did the job. I now prefer to use an electric mower: czcams.com/video/LoXTOsJizQc/video.html
The first brand new weed wacker for the household after many years of buying used weed wackers that lasted well over 20yrs.
How do you like it so far?
Thanks, I used it a year ago and just recently had my fiance put more thread in. The weed eater as a whole looks backwards to me and I kept trying to turn it around by the knobs. Finally I thought I would hope on you tube to see. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Mine is a POS I think the strings are being fed thru wrong
It has the annoying auto feed function
Thanks dude. I just purchased one and the instructions were not so clear. so i turned to you.
YW
Best one I've obtained so far the one's sold at Walmart are a failure🥴🤣...
Hey, love your video! I have the same model for 3 years...and it's great. About the connection, where did you buy the connection cord? With that cilindrical form? Sorry my English 🤭 greetings from México!
Thanks so much for watching. The cord was purchased separately from a hardware store known as Home Depot but you can buy that online.
Weak motor? Bro, it’s under $30 bucks. Plus that jungle probably voided the warranty. ✌️
lol good one
Thank you!
thanks. I'm looking for a simple trimmer for my small yard instead of a bulky mower. plus my backyard has large above ground roots so mower won't work. this will get me started until I can invest in a better trimmer
+Ro Steve Make sure to keep your receipt in case you want to return it.
Great job jay!
Thanks so much for watching
Jay how to I load the spool? Can you do a video. My first time using a weed wacker. And I love this little guy
Thank you for making this video, I sincerely appreciate it.
np
I know the motor is smaller but I can't retract the length more. I'm a tall guy so this the only thing I didn't like. Works great for small trim jobs.
I wish I had your height issue lol
Just what I needed 04:05 Thanks.
Thanks for watching. Please subscribe to help us reach 100K
Nice review!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Please subscribe to help me reach 100K : )
@@Jay_Rule Sure! I love helping!! You got an subscriber!!
My mom bought this a couple of months ago, still works BUT every 10 minutes the string always pops ot
Most frustrating and no easy way to restring
I don't like auto feed as it's a waste of string
What kind of cord do I need? Sorry it’s my first time getting this

It's auto feed I think and quite annoying.

13 in. cutting width
How to change the line I cannot open the bottom
Use a screwdriver or resort to the manual

san jose damn, I just bought the same one last night. Maybe I'll return it within 90 days for my money back.
I'm having the same exact issues. I just found my receipt and I'm taking it back in an hour
I really appreciate it
Thanks for watching.

Yes, I hate this stupid auto feed function or maybe it's just poorly executed.
All you do is keep the trigger pressed while you go from spot to spot. Only release the trigger to let more line out. Buy a spool of replacement line, and reload it yourself. This is much cheaper than buying pre-loaded spools.
What kind of replacement cartridge does it take?

I think this model has the auto feed which I don't like because it uses up the spool too fast.
Hi there, does it come with the power cord ? I got mine but there’s no power cord ... :(
Unfortunately no. You have to buy your own.
I still use the black and decker one I have to get used to it hurts
If it works and it's past return period then you're stuck with it
It has the annoying auto feed. Return yours and buy one without an auto feed.
What about release the trigger?
Then it won't trim
You did not have the electrical cord anchored like the instructions show. Your cord would not have popped out.
Thanks for the tip
Much like a printer... they practically give you the unit, but then kill you on ink cartridges. This trimmer is inexpensive, but be prepared to overpay on rapid use replacement line. Avoid this trimmer.
You put it in the best of words lol
low amp is just for trimming.....ive killed 2 low amps trimmers.....if you want to cut grass with a trimmer i think its better to use the 10amps ones
I didn't realize there are different types of trimmers. Thanks for the tip.
these machines only last a year and it is difficult to find who will repair them
Thanks beautiful
Poor design
Dude! Its a string trimmer, not a brush cutter. It wasnt intended for jungle use.
They tell you to trim taller weeds from the top down,I have an older Homelite 15'' auto feed I think it sucks and is a line hog. It's like buying an HP printer the lines cost almost what the printer does. I wish my step son hadn't burned up the 10 year old Craftsman single line unit.
LMAO, yeah I need to trim more often
Now I just use an electric mower
If any one can give me a answer I bought one of these at Home Depot and had it for tow weeks and it burn out it just stop working wtf and I'd not get my money back

Hate it. The blue lie breaks tooooo fast. I'm shopping now
What did you end up doing with it?
.......................did that come with fries............Pepsi or Coke...............!!!!
larry ehret Not for that cheap price. LOL!
Just bought one. It won't turn on
return it
Mine is not turning on. Witf
How old is yours? Clean the bottom out. The dried grass or weed should make the motor stuck so it won't spin.
Ve al grano.
