  • Listen in as I share some thoughts about how baptism and salvation are linked together. I do not believe that baptism saves you, but that being said, baptism is a MUST for the believer! Listen in as I share some thoughts!

    It is fascinating how, throughout history, God has used H20-physical water-for spiritual purposes. He used the water of the Flood to cleanse the Earth of spiritual corruption (Genesis 6:11-13). As the Israelites were fleeing from Egypt and Pharaoh, He used the water of the Red Sea as their escape route. But He also used that occasion to baptize the children of Israel into the relationship that He would have with them through Moses (1 Corinthians 10:2). They were immersed in water-walls of water on their left and right, and water in the cloud that hovered above them. God used the waters of the Jordan River to cleanse the leprosy of Naaman, the Syrian military commander (2 Kings 5:14). The event caused him to declare: “Indeed, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel” (vs. 15).
    Jesus used water to restore sight to the blind man. He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva. He then anointed the eyes of the blind man with the muddy mixture, and told him to go to the pool of Siloam and to wash the clay off his eyes. Having done so, the man could see for the first time in his life. When the Jewish leaders refused to believe this miraculous use of water-and the identity of the One who used it to heal the blind man-he answered them: “Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes! Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind. If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing” (John 9:30,32-33).
    The crowning masterpiece of Jesus’ use of water for spiritual purposes is seen in His conversation with Nicodemus. To enter into the kingdom of God, Jesus said one must be “born of water and the Spirit” (John 3:5). He meant that a person must be immersed in water in accordance with the Spirit’s instructions given in the Gospel. As Paul explained, to contact Christ’s death and blood, a person must be “buried with Him through baptism” (Romans 6:4). No wonder Peter announced to those who suddenly realized that Gentiles had the right to become Christians: “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized…?” (Acts 10:47). And no wonder Peter declared that baptism “now saves us” (1 Peter 3:21). He meant that Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection do not save a person until he or she is baptized.
    Praise God for His amazing use of water!

    Biblical theology: water+baptism=salvation;
    "And when all the people heard Him,(Jesus) even the tax collectors justified God having been baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected The Will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him Luke 7:29,30
    What do you think will happen to those who reject The Will of God to be immersed in water 'for the remission of their sins' in The Baptism of Christ. There is only one baptism necessary for salvation in the Bible. One example prove text 1 Peter 3:21. He who has an ear let him hear says the Lord.

    Short answer: Absolutely not. Longer answer: Absolutely not. Baptism is a celebration, much like is communion, a birthday, an anniversary, etc. Makes one wonder about that penitent theif on one of those other crosses. As if he told everyone, "Hold on a sec...I wanna go to Heaven. I need to get baptized. I'll be right back..." Umm...He was...like...ohh, I dunno...DYING at the moment.
    Makes one think about Jesus: He was baptized. Did He need saving? Obviously not. That "Church of Christ" denomination (whatever a "denomination" is...)...bizarre. Some of those congregations are Scripturally spot on, some are borderling cult like while some are a denomination in the "church" of Mormon (Whitmerite movement people).
    Psalm 118:8 is at the center of The Word for a reason. Will cheerfully do what The Lord says instead. Feel free to take matters up with The Author if there’s some “problem” with how He writes His Own Book. That 1-on-1 with The Lord happens with 100% of everyone whether he or she “believes that way or not” (see Hebrews 9:27-28). Confidence on the Day of Judgment is critical. Praying. 💥

      @@devokyle3773 They're The Lord's. Just a human spokeperson here.
      Praying this all helps. If there’s any “ammo” here that’s either wanted or needed, go for it. As The Word implies: “Freely you have received, freely give”:
      Over the years, there has been quite a lot taught about Christianity in the proverbial “Bible Belt”. The problem is, many of those things simply are not in The Bible. Sad, huh?
      Everything ALWAYS needs to be, “Thus sayeth The Lord,” and never, “Thus sayeth the so-and-so,” to take precedence. It’s that dot in the middle of a sheet of paper which is known as the absolute truth in every circumstance. Only The Lord can live there. Mankind cannot. Isaiah 55:8-9, for example, is what it is. But...then again...He’s The Lord and we humans are...well...humans.
      Always state Biblical truth. The results are between the recipient and the Holy Spirit. Make sure what’s stated is Biblical truth, however. If it is not, fix it so it is.
      It’s only The Holy Spirit Who can guide into all truth (John 4:34-38, John 14:26, John 16:13, 1 Corinthians 3:5-9).
      While STUDYING Scripture, reading AROUND a passage finds context. Context is ALWAYS emphasized.
      When QUOTING Scripture, please keep comments in proper Biblical context for everyone else since Social Media Land is a public setting. Thanks. Should a particular comment not be in proper Biblical context, either fix it so it is or kindly do not post it.
      Merely an individual trying to grasp the concepts of Isaiah 55:8-9, the Trinity, the manifold (multifaceted) wisdom of The Lord, Jesus being the “Alpha and Omega”, and so on...Mysteries, perhaps, but that type of stuff IS worship. Without attributes such as those, The Lord would cease to be The Lord.
