I love watching all your Sonlight videos. Even though we use it and know how it works I still love all the walkthroughs. Sonlight can be so intimidating when looking at it as a whole, but it is very manageable when you break it down! Great video. Again, I am so glad Sonlight partnered with you. You are definitely a great asset for them. Your videos really help explain Sonlight
Haha, I’m the same way - I watch all the Sonlight videos even if we’ve already done that program! Thank you so much for your encouragement!!
Thank you for giving us a peek into the HBL and Science lessons! Very helpful.
We had so much fun doing HBL B and Science B a few years ago!!!!
Me too!! She’s a year or two ahead of us but I still watch even the kinder and preschool videos ❤
So glad you enjoy the videos 😊
This level looks so fun!
Hello, I have been watching your videos lately to figure out what curriculum I want to use. Do you have an Instagram by any chance? Also, what math curriculum do you use? I can’t seem to find anything about math on your page ❤
I do have an instagram (angiesciencemama) but I'm not the best at posting over there! We use Saxon and love it. I talk the most about it in my monthly wrap-ups :)
Thanks for sharing but I am patiently waiting for you LOE Essentials video...lol!
Haha, I am currently editing that beast of a video … clearly I wanted to share all the details 🤣. That one should be up on Thursday!
I cant remember if you mentioned how old your children were when you completed this. I have two six olds, so they will be almost seven years if we decide to use this next year.
I had a 7 and 8.5 year old when I started with these programs - the 8 year old retained more but it probably depends on your kids!
What is above the dates you wrote on the instructor guides?
Haha, I had to go back and look at the video … but if you are referring to the C/P I write above the dates, those are the initials of my 2 big kids! And then when I go back through with my twins I will write their initials 😊
Does HBL have any worksheets or is it just the book reading plan? And where do all of those Sonlight readers fit it...are those just read alouds you go through during the year or are there any scheduled independent reading? Really helpful! I'm always so confused about SL.
Hi Julie! Sonlight can definitely be confusing at first - I think I’m going to make a video with tips on that! As for worksheets - there are activity sheets (found within a new instructors guide or you can order separately) for science and for language arts but not for the HBL.
The Sonlight readers are scheduled for the kids to read themselves and they are scheduled with the language arts or if you don’t use the language arts they have their own readers instructors guide.
The read alouds are scheduled with the HBL and the parents read those for all levels except for high school.
@@sciencemama ok! Do you use the Language Arts as well or just the readers & guide?
@@juliequates9529 We use the LA as well as the HBL and Science! And once you get to the Level D and higher programs, the schedule for the ind. readers will be in the HBL (as well as the LA) because the readers start tying in with the history - its so cool!
How long does an average day of SL take? I know you showed the pages but realistically, length of time? The HBL & Science readings?
I would say they take around 45-60 minutes depending on the discussions. That would be for the HBL and Science. But not the LA or independent readers!
@@juliequates9529 LA is another instructors guide!
Wow , just 45-60 minutes. That's definitely doable, and I could possibly continue with some other resources I have been using and love. Thanks for sharing.
