You started the video in my old stompin' grounds. First moved to Elyria in 1960. Grew up on Quincy St near Ridgelawn Cemetery. And the old sandstone building is the original EHS that my wife and I knew. Founded 1851 & the first high school west of the Alleghanies. All the old mom & pop shops are gone now that we shopped in. So much has changed in the ensuing decades! It lives now...only in my memories.

I grew up on Columbus and ridge lawn was in my backyard mom still lives there. Spent many a day playing / riding my bike respectfully in that cemetery with friends and now I go there a few times a year to clean up. My great grandma is buried there

Thank you for your videos on Elyria and Lorain. Greatly appreciated.
I share your love and you mentioned your Father’s love for Elyria. I feel the exact same way about Lorain too.
Both my parents were born and then married in Lorain. Moved to Southern California in 1946. Just before I was born. Mom was pregnant with me when her and my Dad headed West.
The happiest times of my life were my trips to Ohio. Both my parents had big families. Lots of friends. Priceless and unforgettable.
Traveled to Ohio on the Santa Fe Railroad from Los Angeles to Chicago. Then New York Central to Cleveland and on to Elyria and Lorain. Later on when I was older went by Airplane.
Made a total of seventeen trips. From 1948 until 1978. When the last of my Grandparents passed away.
Thank you again Andrew for bringing back great memories.

I just stumbled upon your video of downtown Elyria. I've lived here my entire life, 59 years now, East side. 1983 EHS grad. I'm happy to hear your dad loved Elyria and had a great job here. I choked up when you pulled into Wesleyan Village. My mom was there and passed away in 2020 from Covid. Thanks for showcasing downtown Elyria.

I lived in Elyria for five years back in the early 80s. Best little town I ever lived in. The night life was great back then, Uncle Vic's and Mardi Gras used to bring in people from Cleveland. Sad to see burned down.

I was born 1965 and grew up here, still live in Elyria, sad what has happened to this city. No more mall, hardly any businesses, restaraunts all but gone. New highschool opened when my son started there, the only new thing built.😢

City overall was a great city to live in. There are some wonderful people here. However there is some really bad ones there also. I pray that people can find there way!
