This Adagio doesn't need any other symphony movements
to be the greatest symphony ever composed on this planet !
I still remember the moment when i heard first time this shocking climax
after lull 17:15 before this storm 18:08 18:52
and when he looks back to the introducing theme 22:48
it takes my breath every time when i hear this
    - but he transforms the traumatic moment into deliverance
in the end of this incredible work ... :)
Thank you for uploading this phantastic version !

Incdredible! the genius of Mahler how in the 28:52 more less, when the cluster begins with tremendous sonority and a heartbreaking chord , i've heard some musician say that cannot stand listening this chord for a long time because it is irresistible . You can see in the score how Mahler arrived to the dodecaphonic harmony , only 3 notes were missing ,E natural,A sharp and C , and it is more , it was totally natural harmony from his personal painfull , he was not looking for the "dodecaphonism", that is why yhe "Vienna group" had the first inspiration in Gustav Mahler. Thanks Jakob BRAVO!

Sure you do, just give them more than a try, I used to not like Mahler, even the Adagietto wasn't so special for me, till I've tried to understand and study his music and now my life have been changed because of his music, There is so much emotion and beauty in Mahler's music that I can't describe in words, just give it more tries

@@rezam5993 ' just give it more tries' may seem like rudimentary advice and yet this is the key to so much art, and easily overlooked. For example, I remember being perplexed by Berg's Chamber Concerto when i first encountered it but listened repeatedly until i grew to have a liking/understanding. The easy availability on youtube can mitigate against this approach but important to resist :)

An F# major 9 chord with similar voicing and orchestration would actually make a satisfying cadence, of course this would completely destroy the point and impact of the chord, but it would at least make harmonic sense.
