  • Cascades is a botanical film that serves as both a celebration and a reminder. Cascades offers viewers a glimpse at the botanical treasures that make the Cascade Mountain Range so special. It also puts these species in context of the environment that has shaped them. Cascades is also a reminder of the ways we are changing this ecosystem. Join In Defense of Plants for a botanical adventure made possible by a wonderfully generous group of people who donated to our Kickstarter. We thank each and every one of you for making this film a reality.

    This is wonderful.

Fantastic! Thank you so much for making this. I live in the cascades and was excited to see so much familiar flora. That being said, basically all the facts were new knowledge! Very awesome :)

A wonderful production from the entire crew. A good introduction to the species and forest ecology of this rich and varied area. I especially liked the discussion of the alpine plants present and their environs.

Lots of plants I didn't know were in my neck of the woods. I had no idea there was an orchid in the Cascades! And I am very glad to know about those giant leaved maples. Their leaves are truly magnificent in person.
I'm glad you got to visit some sword ferns. I didn't realize they don't grow everywhere. There are many parks in Washington where it's just ferns and conifers. Very peaceful.

7:55 Your music selection has gotten much better. It is no longer hard rock! Many plants have a hard time growing on those.
Seriously your older 2017 videos had this jarring electric guitar that was conflicting with the peaceful nature of your plants.
Your videos have been much improved now. Great work Man!

We pick music that we like plain and simple. Sometimes its hard other times its soft. I recommend researching plants and music a bit more (www.indefenseofplants.com/blog/2016/12/5/plants-and-music?rq=music). My plant collection is living (and thriving) proof that plants don't mind heavy music. We humans just like to project our own feelings on the natural world. Regardless, we are glad to hear you enjoyed the video!

Excellent information. The title sequence in fake vhs filter and its accompanying music was totally out of place and jarring, especially considering the serene intro. Most of the upbeat music doesn't fit with the content.
