It’s been a few weeks since I have watched . What a delightful way for me to come back. Loved “Homer”. Nice piece.
Glad you enjoyed it, Stewart, thank you! 😊
Joel Hansell here. Phil, it's fantastic!! Thank you so much for such a beautiful design -- I love the high peak of the bowl and your decision to offset the center. The bark and the grain are wonderful. That piece sat in the shop for so long because I couldn't decide on the orientation. You nailed it!! I knew you would do it justice. Thank you, Sir!
It was a tough decision, Joel. It would have been great either way, I think, but I am happy with the outcome. Thanks again for sending it along! 😊
Nice!!
An excellent piece! I see a man with a big nose and beard. Thanks for the privilege of watching you.
Thanks for watching! 😊
Absolutely gorgeous! I saw Groot but once you said Homer he stood right out! Well done Phil! Well done
😊
I like how you explain your thought processes when you decide how you'll turn a piece.
I appreciate that, Dave, thank you! 😃
Well, I thought I saw a dragon until you told me it was Homer. I can see Homer, too.
Thanks, Phil! As well as something beautiful, you always give us tips and advice.
😊
First thing that came to mind when I saw it was a Mountain Dwarf with a flowing beard. Another great looking piece. Thank you.
😊
Beautiful piece Phil. That Homer would certainly scare the kids! Love it.
BOO! 😊
All Homer needs is a donut with pink frosting with sprinkles! LOL, I see him too, as plain as day!🍩
Yay! 😊
Another beautiful piece of art Phil. Looks like Homer Simpson with a beard
Okey-dokey, then, Doug, thank you! 😊
SUPER DUPER in my book!!
Would look terrific on my coffee table!!
Perfect! 😊
Homer it is!!
As you were holding the finished bowl, all I could think of was, Phil turned a bowl out of an alligator head😂 The bark reminds me of an alligator’s skin,. In true fashion you have created another beautiful piece!!
You are not wrong, Dale. It did look like an alligator head in the beginning. Thanks, glad you like it! 😊
Phil you can always take a chunk of wood and make something nice and beautiful out of it.
Thank you, Ronnie! 😊
Fantastic. All tracks in the burl it's just wonderful, nature is wonderful, no artist can accomplish something like that.
Carsten
True enough! 😊
Just love the Homer Simpson bowl Phil. Well done.
Thanks, Jack! 😊

Homer Simpson is proud to be part of your art. Very nice piece. There is a cardinal sitting on top of what was the tenon.
😊
Thanks for describing your detail. Knowing that the same thoughts of doubt go through other woodworkers helps.
You bet! Thank you for watching! 😊
The “Homer bowl”! Very nice Phil
Yeah, I got Homer and Bart mixed up, Kandie! Haven't watched the show for years! 😃
The bottom looks like a marine chart showing tidal streams 👍 love it
It does! 😊
Hi 👋, Phil from Phil, It just amazes me how you can turn a scruffy piece of wood into a lovely piece of art.
And Yes that is a mean looking Homer Simpson , Great looking peaceful Phil. And you have been a busy boy laser engraving one day lathe turning the next, I look forward to your next piece of art. PHIL FROM THE QUIET SIDE OF THE MOULIN,
I'm looking forward to getting the reviews out of the way for more time in the shop, Phil! 😊
I agree with Bruno. You made the right choice! Very beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Chris! 😊
No doubt about it Phil you made the right decision. The bowl is very cool looking and one of your best of this style. I love everything you did with it.
Lots of fun watching this one.
Take care,
Gary
Thank you, Gary! We need to have a conversation some time about why the softer wood is so difficult to turn compared to the harder heartwood. 😊
Phil nature rewards the master turner 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
😊
Yes, you just took A piece of fire pit wood and made a work of art.
Thanks for explaining and the tools used in your process.

Killer, Phil! I could NOT hv gotten anything out of that wood like u did! 👍👍👏👏👌👌❤️❤️

You alway pull the best possible bowel out of a piece of wood. You have a great eye. And I really like that you almost never use epoxies and you still make it look great. Thanks for sharing 👍.
Thanks, Garet! 👍 😊

Another beauty, but by now I would expect nothing less. Thanks once more for your time and skill. If I could stand for more than two minutes at a time I'd be trying some of these things on my own lathe. Oh well, this is the road the Lord laid out for me so I try not to complain. Best to you and yours.
Thank you, Carson! 😊 Cheers!
That's some really pretty wood, Phil, and I definitely see Homer in there :D Keep up the good work!
😊
and again another piece of art Phil, you continue to amaze me, really beautiful. Grtz from the Netherlands 😘
Thank you, Piet! 😊
That is beautiful! It's a tough decision how to turn a piece like this. I'm glad it was not up to me! I always learn something new watching your videos. They inspire me what can be done with an unusual shape of wood and give me encouragement to try it myself. I'm often surprised (amazed even) how well these can turn out, even for a novice like myself. Thanks!
Thank you very much, Paul! I'm glad you are finding some of the information to be useful! 😊
What a beautiful dilemma!!!
Thank you for watching, Marty! 😃
That is a beautiful piece. Great work as always Phil
Thanks, Jiggsy! 😃
Your work is allways an inspiration for me! Thank you for sharing :)

Thank you, Jerry for your very kind comment! 😊
Yet another great piece of work Phil
😊
Looks good Phil it almost reminds me of a shoe for a large gentleman 👍👍
😊
Phil , I have seen you make the right decision on which way you will be turning the wood, many,
Many times ! Once again you chose the most Beautiful side ! Plus you also saved Homer's likeness !
Take Care and Be Safe
Homer is, I'm sure, grateful, Larry! 😊
I'd say it was a good decision! I never did see Homer Simpson but I sort of saw Groot and the Tasmanian Devil.
😊
Yes I see Homer. Nice job
😊
Dont know how i missed this a year ago...ive been subed longer than that...looks great...stay safe...press on 😎 Joe
Looks more like an evil Marge or Bart😮
All good, I'm so glad you are still with me! 😊
Beautiful Phil.
I saw Homer as well.
The piece reminds me of the mouth of a volcano as well.
Great video as ever my friend.
Take care Phil.
Cheers, Huw
Thank you, Huw, I'm glad you could see him! 😊
Nice Phil!! I didn't think that gnarly bark would work out that well. Who knew? I just brought home some chestnut from a tree that fell during a recent storm and it has a very similar chunky bark. Seeing what you did with that burl has given me again a different perspective on what's possible! Thank you. Cheers, Rick
Sounds great, Rick! Have fun with it! 😊
I may have been tempted to just make slices of this on the band saw and use them for wall art or centerpieces for hot items on the dinner table. Good job working this out.
😊
Phil, I’m much more of a loyal watcher than you might think. I suggest considering a small card that you place next to your finished piece at the very end of each video that has an episode # - that way, old guys like myself will have an episode # that I can more easily look up and comment on. Currently (which is most of the time) your episode is finished and I had not yet commented. With an episode #, I think I could google Phil Anderson episode# - and give you a proper response. I think it would work. We love your work (wife Kathie & myself)
I appreciate your loyalty more than you might imagine, Richard and Kathie! Thank you! Well, I've never kept track of the episodes. No idea of the numbers. Also, most people (including me) comment after the video. You might be thinking of LIVE videos where there is an ongoing conversation during the video. Mine are all prerecorded. If I may, let me instruct you on how to handle my video library and that of all other creators. If you go to my channel czcams.com/channels/hnrYga7SuRvCngBRTVX-vQ.html you will see several tabs at the top of the page. One of them is Videos. Click on that www.youtube.com/@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop/videos and you will see every video I've ever uploaded. Right above the first video listed are three butttons, Latest, Popular and Oldest. Clicking any of them will result in sorting of my videos in the order you want. So, just click Latest to comment on the one you just watched, assuming it was the last one I uploaded. Or, just do like I do. When the video is over, simply look below the video window and there are all the comments and a place for you to make your own comment. You will also see my replies and replies of anyone else. If this isn't clear, just ask me and I'll try to do better! Also, in your own settings on CZcams, be sure you have them set to alert you when a reply has been made to one of your comments.
Phil, that burl is really something! It's kind of like finding shapes in clouds, there is so much to see; the figure is amazing. You had quite a dilemma in deciding the design. It's one of those things where there was no bad decision, any of the choices you made would have turned out fantastic. The decision you made turned out great. Thanks also to Joel for providing this wonderful burl.
We are so fortunate to be provided with great woods from all over, for all to enjoy, Mark! 😊
gosh you did a good job on it i really like it!!!!!!!!!!! later buddy
Thank you, Don! 😊
Phil, if it would have been me, I probably would have done it in the opposite orientation (do what you see versus what you don’t see). That would have been a mistake. You are able to to use your X - ray vision and bring out the beauty in most of your pieces. You are truly an amazing master wood turner.
I wanted to, so bad, Doug! But, truth is, I think it would have looked good either way. 😊
I think you mean Bart Simpson? Nice one, Phil!
😊
Well done, sir, well done!
😊
wow Phil u definitey know how to bring out the beauty in wood thanks.
You bet 😊
What a cool piece. You did the right decision to keep the bark side up, this is what gives the piece character. Especially with the really impressive wood structure in the centre. Well done Phil,
Thank you, Bruno! 😊
Absolutely gorgeous Phil.
😊
I see Bart Simpson. I like the overall look, well done.
Bart with a big nose and a beard
😊
Beautiful, Phil! The orientation you chose was the right one, for sure. So enjoy hearing you talk through the options the wood offers and your rationale for the one you choose. Always educational. Thanks!
Thanks a lot, Greg! 😊
