    We loved this renovated resort. The architecture is so palatial, One thing we REALLY love about this resort is the beach - when it's not covered in seaweed!!

The beaches look fine here, so that’s a plus for sure. Been to RIU Properties before, but not this side of the ocean. It’s indeed a large corporate company where you get perks . Awesome! When you get a wristband there, is it just one, or is there different ones/upgrades for more premium things, like liquor, etc?

      You do not need to do a test prior to travelling to Mexico. Testing is based one where you are travelling back to as well. For Canada, it’s a PCR test and for US, it’s antigen. The resort has on-site testing available that you can organize through the front desk 👍🏻

      Both RIU and BP do such a great job. The food, rooms, grounds, etc are exceptional at both. One thing we noticed at BP is the entertainment was far superior to RIU. Would recommend BP if you enjoy the nightlife.

    I do have a questions; is there only one pool with a swim up bar? Is there a bar that's close to the pool that don't have one and is the service good around the pools where they ask if you want drinks? Also is the water always darker throughout the whole year?

    • @WherewegoingNext
      @WherewegoingNext  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi there! Yes, there is only one swim up bar. Yes, there’s a walk-up bar on the other side of the swim-up bar, that is right beside one of the main pools. The drink service around the pools is excellent. They are constantly walking around making sure everyone has a drink! We felt so bad for them bc it’s so hot and they work so hard - yet are still very nice to you. Are you referring to the dark water in the ocean? If so, that’s the sea grass that washes up on shore due to the tide and is based on the time of year… it’s very hard to predict but it can clear up quickly. Hope that helps!

    1. Would you recommend traveling to Mexico in July? Since it’s supposed to be rain season there.
    2. Which hotel is better for a young couple? I’ve heard that the food is supposed to be better at Riu but the entertainment is better at BP?

      @WherewegoingNext  Před 2 lety +1

      Both Mexico and DR are in hurricane season from July to November. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Since the weather is so unpredictable, I wouldn’t base my decision on that. Instead, try to find a resort that hits most of your criteria. From our experience, we find Mexico to hit most things on our checklist - excellent service, excellent food, great culture and history, lots of fun things to do… it all depends on the type of vacation that you want. Since you said you’re a young couple, I think Mexico would be a good fit. Playa del Carmen and Tulum are very popular and trendy destinations for young people, and they are both easily accessible by bus, taxi, or Uber from either the RIUs or the Bahia Principes in the Mayan Riviera. Again, Bahia does have better entertainment- but you can find great nightlife in nearby Tulum or Playa del Carmen if that’s what your looking for.
      Sorry if this isn’t the answer you were looking for - I just don’t want to tell u to go to one place bc of the weather and when u go there it rains all week. 🤷🏼‍♀️

      Yes, the RIUs offer excursions as well! I would say that the RIU was pretty quiet when we visited a few years ago. There are other RIUs you can visit for more entertainment but they are a bit of a walk. The Barcelós are all next to one another and have a nice family atmosphere. The RIU has a nicer beach, but it’s full of seaweed around now. The Barcelo does not have a swimmable beach (it’s all rocks right in front), but you can walk down a bit to any other Barcelo and use their beach. It also might have a bunch of seaweed right now 🤷🏼‍♀️ the RIU has been recently renovated, with nicer rooms and a bit better food.

Pools are all basic, no slides for bigger kids, etc. my travel agent sent about 9 all inclusives to choose from. Several Dreams locations, Riu's and the BP which I actually really like even more thab the pricier options. But that brings the question, why is the BP on the less expensive side?
