O God, do Thou sustain me,
In grief and sore duress
Pride counter which disdains Thee

O Lord let me find mercy

WRONG! Christ is not God's only Son. refer to Luke 3:38 where it clearly says in the word of God (king james Bible) and even in the perversions that adam is the son of God too. God had 2 sons. 1 he created, and the other he begot. also refer to 1Corinthians 15:45-49 where it talks about there was 2 adams where the first was made a living soul and the last adam a quickening Spirit (Jesus Christ of course) and we have bore the image of the earthy (adam) so shall we bear the image of the heavenly. (only applies to us who are truly saved. the false converts and wicked people of this world will bear the image of there father the devil)

Christ is God's only begotten son, you know what the songwriter meant. It is pretty hard to fit the word begotten in a hymn. Stop straining the gnats.
