I would just like to update you guys: today, the day after this video came out, we have just been struck by a magnitude 6 earthquake. Had a panic attack, but I came down from it and we hid in the bathroom. Can confirm, the earthquake proof stuff helped a lot. Some figures and other items did fall and break, but overall, we good.

Anyone know of a good alternative to hanging paintings up without using nails? Maybe I can use thumbtacks since they're tiny but any other options that don't rip up paint? Really want to ensure I get my security deposit back from my apartment :)
Edit: I'm needing to hang up canvas prints and a large painting my mom hated but I loved, lol (she tried one of those acrylic painting tutorials where you pour multiple colors into a cup and then pour them on the canvas and it makes a ripple effect. Hers ended up wavy all over, lol. With the colors black, blue, tan and purple, it to me now gives vibes of a cave with a river running through it and stalagmites. She didn't see it that way so she let me have it :)
Her painting will be the largest of the canvases (the others will be a print that you can get in five different pieces and sizes that will complement her abstract art), though I don't know hers exact size. I'd estimate about four feet tall and three and a half feet wide, perhaps. Again, I'm hoping thumb tacks might work. Really needing to avoid nails or ripping the paint off the walls.

Great video! Two tips on the fire extinguisher:
If you're only going to own or have 1. it should be a mid to large Powder-extinguisher in the bedroom. Reason being that if there is a fire in the night you should not have to look in the dark for it and if it happens at night the fire is probably going to be more extensive.
If you're going to have more then one I would recommend Powder for the bedroom (good against most if not all fires) and Carbon dioxide for kitchen (Will not require sanitation after use).

a few things i do recommend for your emergency storage in your house:
    1st: an uninterruptible power supply
-prevents you PC from suddenly powering down during a power outage, giving you time to save your stuff before you power down.
-lets you charge your phone so you can make a call in an emergency during longer power outages.
-you can use it to power your water cooker for a while.
2nd: a battery powered radio and batteries
-most governments use the radio to mass inform citizens during big catastrophies, also keeps you up to date about what's going on outside.
3rd: a big COPPER container full of water
-replace the water regularly so you always have fresh water on hand.
-copper chemically destroys cell walls on contact, making it lethal to plants, fungi and bacteria, but not to animals, including humans, thus it keeps the water fresh for longer even when refrigeration is unavailable.

Seeing this is another of those rare instances where my miserable unpatriotic self is actually grateful to have been born English. We live in such a geologically uneventful sectionof the world, resulting in so few truly devastating natural disasters. We don't know how lucky we are. Of course there are parts of the country that are prone to flooding, the kind of thing that can endanger and ruin peoples lives. But clearly many of the problems caused by flooding can be mitigated by land and water management, it's not nearly in the same category of a goddamn EARTHQUAKE.
      Stay safe Aki! :D

The bathroom is indeed the safest room in the house to hide in during an earthquake! Partly because there's not much in there, but bathroom walls usually have extra piping or infrastructure inside them, reinforcing the wall strength. Its recommended for you to hide in a bathroom in earthquakes or other emergencies because of this reason.
