If Mary was any kind of journalist, she would have known that revenge pornography has been an illegal offence since 2015. All she had to do was take her phone to the police and show them what Faye send her and what she planned to do with the picture. Also, Mary didn't give her consent to take the nude picture of her in the first place. Knowing how simple it is to get out of this blackmail, I am Emmerdale will no doubt drag this storyline out.
Just because it’s illegal doesn’t stop it happening. Even if faye posts the picture, and Mary went to the police, that picture is still out there and it would still have an effect on Mary’s life.

I am sure Mary's friends & family would support her, as for Faye the consquences would be far worse given that stoled, assaulted Mary and using blackmail & intimidation. It wouldn't look good for her in court.
