Yeah that old performance also just wasn’t the strongest. I remember listening to it in high school and being super unimpressed after the hype
I love how Tony always finds a way to sneak humming the next note into the long pauses
I think it’s actually pretty normal, the lead of the quartet I sing for does this as well, he is very good at it tho lol

This was the highlight of the week for me personally, because one of these lovely gentlemen gave me their ticket to the show that evening and I was delighted the whole time because of them. Their talent is only outshone by their kindness, and I'm dearly grateful 'cause of that.

I think it's hilarious how Gary Lewis won with his new quartet the next day and Tony competed with his son in his new quartet and hasn't won yet. In the words on Tony himself "So what you're saying is.... You haven't won yet?" LMAO Love these guys

Like a fine wine, Max Q have grown on me as a quartet simply because they look to sing for fun and pass that on and I feel that's important to an audience.
Jesus Christ. This is so good. A weird (in a good way) blast from the past but with some sass built in. I'll be watching this for the next fifty years if CZcams is around, watch for my comments. Fantastic, thank you Max Q you anbsolute legends!

Big applause for praising the 139th Street Quartet! Such an awesome quartet for so long, with so many medals. When I got their cassette tapes in college, I nearly wore them out from how good and how fun they were. 👏👏👏👏
