Gotta love how he said Russia attacks civilian targets, what about Nato and America in Iraq, Yugoslavia etc? Next Simon will say how deplated uranium ammunition and bombs are not a health hazard, just go and see ex Yugoslaviab rate of cancer on territory bombed by Nato with same bombs during 1999, if you insist on painting one side as evil don't ignore same things from other side.

Whataboutism... The difference is that American war crimes are investigated, criminals get their own. Has one Russian been punished for crimes in Ukraine for the whole year ?

Given Putin has gone on to use the same basic playbook in Georgia and Ukraine, I think it's safe to say Putin considers the tactics and methods used in Chechnya to be perfectly justifiable. In hindsight, looking at Chechnya and Georgia, Putin's true nature is rather obvious and the so-called Peace-Dividend was always going to be something of a fallacy.

I grew up in the US so I really don’t know much about this. Very interesting ironic this was going on while the Balkan wars were happening.
