    This week I compare the depth performance of ALL FIVE currently available coils for the Nokta Legend! How do the new elliptical coils stack up against the circular ones? Is the LG30 deeper than the LG28 stock coil?

    LG15 is perfect for trashy parks. The LG28 is good for depth in fields and beaches. I could see buying the LG24 as an all around coil, but the advantages of the larger coils aren’t so great considering the extra cost imo. If I could trade for the LG30 I would, but I won’t buy a new coil just to replace my factory. Thanks for the great test.

    I have very osteoarthritic shoulders and swinging the stock 11 inch coil for several hours got quite uncomfortable. Today I used the LG 24 for the first time on the beach, found two rings, and a bunch of trash, but overall was very impressed with the performance of the coil and the fact that it was significantly lighter and easier to swing. Thanks for the info! 👍

    Just ran across this, and it really is very well executed and helpful. I doubt I would have or ever will get the 24 or 30, but it is a perfect demonstration of why a serious detectorist may want to own a small 6”, medium sized, and a large size coil for their use in various situations. You have also shown the relative “depths” to expect with each very clearly. Great job!

    Great Video, I loved the morphing between coil results (I can see your video ediding skills here). It is very clear. I see that the LG24 is an averege 2inches less deep than the stock, sounds fair, while i don't get the LG30 results against the stock coil, almost the same depth as the stock, only advantage would be 100g less weight, at least on air tests. The results for the LG28 and LG30 were identical. My thoughts on that are as follows.
      The LG30 is slightly bigger than the LG28 which would usually make it deeper, however it is elliptical. Elliptical coils tend to be shallower than their circular counterparts.
      The two aspects cancel each other out.

    • @gabyspan940
      @gabyspan940 Před rokem +4

      the advantage for the lg30 is the better separation of targets in the soil that it can give you compared to the stock coil, think about having an iron infested area to detect, the edge will go to the lg 30 being slim in the waist unlike the fat stock coil

      @@gabyspan940 Thamks, for the info, I wonder if having a better target separation coil it is possible to scan with a lower recovery speed compared to the one we set when on the stock coil. • @gabyspan940
      @gabyspan940 Před rokem +1

      @@italiametal482 I understand what you said but you didnt understand very well what recovery is, recovery is the reset speed of the detector, to put it easier to understand. So, if the ground is clear of iron or trash targets then you can lower the recovery to 2-3, otherwise there is no sense to lower recovery since you cant go deeper bevause of the iron/trash masking lair. So on a trashy field no detector can really go so deep no matter the recovery speed

  • @diemaschine2287

    I know it’s not the deepest one but I love the little 28 sniper coil. The only beach close to me is very trashy. The hurricane Maria that hit this side really messed up the beach area so not many swimmers. The 28 helps me snipe around the 10’s of thousands of pull tabs and bottle caps. And I’m not joking. I should load a video of a walk around the tree and bench areas every swing gives 5-10 hits it’s absurd the number of pull tabs. With the smaller I can snipe out the coins and such better.

      Hi!
      It is a fair bit heavier. The balance of the machine still feels fine...it's a lightweight machine...but after a few hours I do tend to have to take short breaks here and there to rest the arm.

      @@DTEKTSUSSEX thanks for the quick response! I use the AT Pro as my dedicated water hunting machine, and it has done brilliantly for me over many years. I have all the latest and greatest, but that machine combined with the NEL 15" coil has done amazingly well for me in the water, so much that even after purchasing the Manticore and getting the Legend, I'm considering returning to the water with the AT Pro. After seeing this video, I may give the Legend a go in the water with the LG35, so I'm not sure if this is a fair ask, but I didn't find the need for a sling with the AT Pro and NEL combo, I'd imagine if I can swing that in the water (and to some degree on land) then I'll be fine. But I went through three NEL's, two just stopped working on me over the last 10 years, the last one I bought was phenomenally light in comparison, and that made a huge difference. It depends on where you're hunting.

    • @kody3377

      @@DTEKTSUSSEX my only concern with the LG 30 is the depth is exactly the same. I know it does separate better & that’s a bonus, but is it worth the money for the slight more separation rather then being able to go a couple inches deeper to get those targets that are out of range.
      I don’t hunt many farm fields, but would like to take it to a few places that I’ve been over many times & just see if I could pull a few deep targets out. I guess I could sell my LG 28. They still bring about $60-$70 on eBay & get the LG 30. Then eventually get the 35.
      My Legend has a bad battery & when the ground freezes I’m going to ship it to them to fix it. I just hope they don’t charge me.
      It will be at full charge & about 1 hour it will start shutting down every 15-20 min. I use the external battery a lot! If I want to hunt for 3 hours or so I have to have the external battery plugged in.
      It sucks because it weighs to much.

    • @DTEKTSUSSEX
      @DTEKTSUSSEX  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Battery thing does sound like a fault. Make sure you report it ASAP even if you don't send it back yet.
      In terms of the coil if it's more depth you're after the LG35 will give you that. Just be aware that you'll be missing targets in trashy areas.
      Depth isn't the be all and end all. It's all about getting the best possible combination of coil and settings for the specific environment you're in. And sometimes that means better separation and unmasking rather than depth.

      Depending on the beach, either the LG24 or the LG30.
      LG24 if you have lots of obstacles, sea defences, rocks etc to get around.
      LG30 if you have large areas of open space 👍

    Why make the 30 the same as the 28. The bigger coils don't pass the pub test. I'll stick to my three smaller coils.

      They're not the same.
      They have about the same depth performance but the 30 is more precise and better at unmasking. Being narrower it's also better at getting in closer to obstacles like trees and rocks. The extra length also means better coverage.
      Small coils are great for areas with lots of obstacles and/or high levels of trash. The larger coils are better for areas with less dense targets and wide open areas.
      It's simply a case of using the best tool for the specific land you're on 😊👍

      @@DTEKTSUSSEX But is it worth shelling out $350 ..?

      If it's the right coil for your application then yes. If it's more than you're happy to spend the other coils will be fine, just not quite as suited.

      It will vary depending on where you are in the world. Contact a metal detector shop in your country and they will be able to let you know 😊👍
