14:33 Day Two
I celebrated my 37th birthday weekend with Rob out on the Deschutes River trail. I've lost count of the number of times that I've been on this trail, but it's been a lot. This weekend, we didn't camp out, and got a room in Maupin instead. You'll notice I am schlepping a bunch of gear in the video though... I am testing out a few new pieces of kit that I got which ill be using in an upcoming trip to AZ in May. This ride was a shakedown for my ultralight(ish) kit... Despite being a bit hungover and I got sick at the end of the trip, we had a great time! Hope you guys enjoy.
The old married couple, back out on the trail.
How do these not have a million views? WTF
These vids are GREAT! Keep it up.
You guys are just a kick! I only started watching your adventures recently and I love ‘em! Fun times, upbeat music (that’s not too loud) and adventure. Keep on havin fun!
Thanks Larry!!!!
You guys are funny bastard's....love it guys😂
Thanks for watching!
If it wasn't for the fact that I am just now planning my first bikepacking trip and I'm likely to be at novice level for a year or two, I would absolutely invite myself to follow you guys around. What a good vibe you give off. So much fun to go along with all of the work. Kudos, fellas
How was your first bikepacking ride, I do my first bikepacking ride this weekend?
FUN GUYS. WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE SCENIC SHOTS AND A MAP OF WHERE YOU ARE AND GOING
Glad you guys are back! Funny and motivating! Awesome job...
Thanks Barry! Good weather is right around the corner… hope to be doing more trips soon!!
Glad to hear that! Look forward to future videos!
What a touring team you guys make. Awesome! Sometimes you're even friendly to each other! Lots of laughs and plenty of fun adventures. Keep up the cycling camaraderie. Very entertaining!
Thanks Bill! Glad the video kept you entertained! We can’t wait to go on another ride!!!
You guys are cool AF! hahaha always a laugh. Cheers
Thank you!! ❤️
That was great fun to watch. You gents always entertain and you get along so well, more rare than you realize. Happy Birthday Chris and keep these coming.
Thanks Jason!!!
Always enjoy your videos, I rode abit of that trail today. Such a beautiful spot.
Yeah! If you haven't ventured past the first trestle, i'd highly recommend it!
Trips are made by relationships like this one. Bravo to you guys, these are great videos and a nice reminder about the people we want to be around.
Thanks Keith!!
The meta humor and fourth walk break humor is just awesome.
Must have just missed you on the trail! First time out there the other week, so gorgeous.
One of the downsides of moving back to Seattle is missing the easy access to this area. I have many fond memories and appreciate you sharing yours.
Happy Belated Birthday Chris, you guys always have fun . And of course there will be shenanigans 🤣
Always shenanigans ! Thanks chuck!
Drooling is a sign of complete and utter relaxation; well done! Happy BDay Chris!
Fun!
Favorite Bikepacking duo! Cheers from Norway 🇳🇴
Fantastic!
Thanks bruh!
The drool!
My wife's first bikepack . Thanks for the memories.
That is awesome! This is such a great first bikepacking route!
Happy Belated Birthday Chris, and thanks for giving us the gift of another video...... burn the pillow !!!!!
Thanks Scott! Yeah that drool made it to the core of the pillow… burning it is a must!
This trip looks like it was so much fun! What a way to spend a birthday. You and rob are fun to listen to.
I don’t live far from deschutes, i might have to give the trail a try this summer… as long as there’s no smoke.
Im curious about the bike you are using? I have a checkpoint, which is great for the road and light gravel, but y’all’s bike holds up to a beating.
Looks like a cool and challenging ride - glad you guys had a good ride. Sorry you got sick at the end - that sucks.
Nicely done and thanks for sharing, sir!
Love the videos man! Such a fun vibe watching you guys
Appreciate it!!
Parker is fired up on this one!
Yeah. We haven’t been getting out much this time of year so he was grumpy 😅
😂 I laughed so much while watching. So glad to see you fellas back out there!
Glad you enjoyed
You two have just too much fun......
Parker.... I'm getting off the couch dude!
You guys keep em comin
Thanks! Ahhh I need to get off the couch too!! Good weather is just around the corner!!!
You guys never fail to make me smile!
Thanks dude, I am always happy to hear that!
Hey guys! Love the vid! New PNW video day is one of our favorite days! Love that you make even type 2 fun look... well, Fun!! Montana is not quite into biking weather yet but hopefully soon! Keep on pedalin!
Thanks Dena! Soon!!! That’s what we are telling ourselves every weekend!!! This weekend could be the one! Oof Montana… would love to go back, but I’ve always got grizzlies on the mind while riding out there! Low grade stress the entire time!!!
You guys are hilarious! Good to see you're all doing well! Happy belated Birthday Chris!
Thanks so much!! Hope you and your family are scheming some fun trips this summer!!!
You guys are so entertaining thanks for another bikepacking adventure I can’t wait to get back out
Thanks!! Me too!! The weather is about to turn for the better!!!
Woo! New video! Great job as usual.
Thanks Joe!
Love the videos, you guys having a great time and so funny 😂😂
Thanks Julie!!
Yes! another trip my from fav duo!
Thanks Georgia!!
Happy Birthday.
This was such a fun video to watch. Two good friends celebrating.
I really like that trail.
Glad you enjoyed it! It’s a great trail for so many reasons!
Happy Belated Birthday, Chris! Glad to see you guys out having fun again. Ready for gravel but it's still snowing up here in the far north so we are still on fat bikes. Sigh. . . I'm sure spring is just around the corner.
We just got a 1Up Rack and really like it, too.
Yeah, that’s what we keep telling ourselves. It’s been pretty wet out here and low snow levels so we haven’t gotten out much… I need to get a fat bike and harden up!!!! Fingers crossed for some good weather this weekend for both of us!!! Hell yeah on the 1up!! Rob and I have been talking about an Alaska trip, do you have any beta / ideas for 150-300 mile routes? Gravel, singletrack, tarmac, packraft, bushwhacking… we’ll take it all!!!
What a fun video. I just completed my first bikepacking trip along the first bit of that trail myself so it was fun to see the trail again.
Hell yeah Mike! That is awesome way to get out there! Have anything in mind for your second route?
@@pnwbikepacking I've not quite figured out a second route. As the weather improves maybe something up on Mt. Hood.
Your trips are always so much fun! It'd be cool to see you head by Leavenworth, WA some day. it's always a nifty town to visit!
I’d love to come out by Leavenworth… lots of cool peaks and climbing out there too which we could potentially link up. We’ve talked about it, but haven’t put anything on paper. You have any beta on routes out there?
Chris your production quality is incredible and I admire your eye for great cinematography and excellent story telling. Do you have a background in video production and do you do it for a living? Also wondering do you write a script first then go bikepacking or compose the story after you've completed a trip?
Thanks Dylan, I appreciate that. I do not have a background in this, just a hobby. No scripting or storyboarding... I am too lazy for that. I just get a ton of footage, then piece it all together and write some narration to help tell the story! I just finished my Pinyons and Pines video, thanks for helping to organize that route, I wouldn't go on all these amazing adventures without people like you and Dana!
Happy birthday!🍻 Looked like a great getaway.
FYI the Monumental Loop went great. Crazy, we were out there for 5 days and Anton Krupicka set a new fkt and finished in 23 hours!🤯 Wild. I did film some so maybe I’ll throw a video up at some point. I wasn’t completely motivated since my friends weren’t interested to be on camera much but I’m sure I could make something out of the footage. Reach out if you want to know more info on it 🙌🏼
Thanks! Glad to hear the monumental loop went well!!! Those FKTs are mind boggling…. I’d love to watch some of your footage!!! How can I get a hold of you guys I never saw an email come through?!
Great video guys! How did the Ripsey work out for you? It would also be great to hear a comparison between your new and old bike, including why you made the switch. Thanks and Happy belated birthday!
Hey Eric! Thanks for watching. Ripsey worked out so well! I've taken it on a handful of trips now and it delivers! I am a short guy riding 29ers and a dropper post... This is the perfect bag for me! No wagging, plenty of room, and easy to take the dry bag on and off!
Hey bro in Spokane just got bikes looking to hit some sick trail. U and Rob inspired my wife and I to go out and get it man...much love dude and cheers
Nice! Super stoked to hear that! I’ve got some friends out in Spokane that are starting to get into bikepacking, you have any route beta out that way?
@@pnwbikepacking no real big trails or anything just local spots. But dude the mt Spokane trail looks hella sick
Hey Chris, what kind of bike rack are you using?
That Gordon Ridge sure is a bitch, but it's a lot of fun coming down the other side! Loved that Oregon Stampede route and want to go back and explore more of the White River Wildlife Area one of these years.
Haha I’m glad someone else recognizes Gordon ridge is a bitch! There is also a fake Gordon ridge on the route… it’s like a false summit…. But you’re right that descent is like… in my top 10. Super fun!
17:24. This!
You guys need to quit being so uptight. Have some fun once and awhile!! Awesome video
Yeah tell that to Parker! If he doesn’t have his wine he gets all grumpy and ruins the whole trip!!! We never have fun anymore!
Hi, Chris! Could you make the review of your bike? What are the frame, fork, rims and so on? Thank you.
That was a good trip and some fun. Trail looked a little narrow by the river. Like watching two brothers. I can't remember if you ever mentioned but what brand is your bike rack. Looking for a new rack to hold my wife's e-bike and my fat bike. Thanks and take care, Al
Thanks Al! The bike rack is made by a company called 1up. It’s expensive but I really like it. Would recommend!
15:34 on video-was that Bigfoot running down the trail under the trestle brah?
I feel like both of you were having type one AND type two fun at the same time.
Haha yeah sometimes on our trips those lines get pretty blurry!!!
Amazing video - you guys are really funny. I have a quick question ? where did you get your hitch bike rack from ? or what is the brand? thanks
Hi! Thanks for watching. My bike rack is made by a company called 1 up. These are pricy racks, but I have never regretted it! 1up-usa.com/product-category/bike-racks/
@@pnwbikepacking thanks for the info - happy bikepacking
Parker, your fly is down.
Yep. Typical Parker.
What seatpack are you using to have the dropper post work that well?
This is a fairly new seatpack to me called the Ripsey, made by Rogue Panda. So far, I love it! It even works on my full suspension mtb and I can drop my seat all the way with no rubbing!
What brand model is the bike rack? It appears slim but sturdy. You make it all look fun.
Bike rack on the car? It’s made by a company called 1up. It’s great! Expensive but it’s been super solid and worth every penny in my experience!
@pnwbikepacking thank you for responding planning to purchase one the look really solid
Hey Chris, what backpack are you using?
What backpack are you using in this video?
Is y’all’s route posted somewhere?
Bro! Chalk ain’t cheap! 😂
Right?!? What the hell was that move from Parker anyway? No one chalks up like that😖
When’s your birthday, Chris??? Mine was on the 6th.
Happy late birthday Alec! Mine was on March 17th!
So Deschutes is not just a beer?
It’s a river in Oregon. Presumably the beer is named after it.
Indeed. I've drunk both. I prefer the beer
new hardtail?
Newish. Have had it since Novemberish!
Would be nice to see a map of the route
Always with the map Dietz! Just call up Parker and have him explain to you where we were! 🤣. Send me a video where they did a good job with a map and I’ll give it the ole college try!
I subscribed due to the bullying and shenanigans.
haha thanks!
micro-aggression😂
Sooooo many micro aggressions.
Boys, wear your helmets. You make me nervous.
